A Psychic's Troubles-A Saiki K Work

Summary:

So Saiki basically just tries to live like normal but his friends constantly get him in trouble. For my own sanity, in this work, Saiki is aromantic asexual cause I am too and it makes life a lot easier here. He's constantly dodging Aiura and Teruhashi's attempts to make him love them.

This is paced a lot like the anime where things can build but they don't often build so there will be separators to differentiate the scenes or whatever those are called.

Also, everything Saiki says will be both italicized and bolded so its different from the thoughts he keeps to himself. Whatever anyone else is thinking is underlined. Enjoy!

Chapter Text

"Kusuo!" My father's voice greets me yet again, he's late for work. What do you want? I already know his response.

"Please teleport me to work, Kusuo," he begs pitifully enough for my mother to shed a tear. Thank god she's not here right now. I've always had a soft spot for my mother, often complying with what she says. However with my father...

No. I sit down, beginning to eat the breakfast my mother so carefully prepared. Pancakes, delicious as always. They would be better if this insolent creature wasn't groveling at my feet for mercy. "Please, Kusuo, I'll buy you coffee jelly for a month, I promise."

If there's two things money can buy, it's my sanity and coffee jelly. Technically that's one thing. I begrudgingly teleport my useless bum of a father to his office building, dropping him off at the roof. Done, now you owe me two months of coffee jelly. "What! I promised you one month's worth," he complains.

Yeah, but now I have to risk not being caught on this rooftop, three minutes until I can teleport back remember? If they catch me up here in my school uniform, they'll call the school. "Fine," my father groans, muttering something about ungratefulness.

I could technically just fly off the building, but that's be too much of a risk given my bright pink hair and obvious school crest. So I lean up against the rooftop access, waiting for the three minutes to be up. Yare yare. I stare at the seconds ticking away on my watch. It might be a couple minutes slow but I'm too lazy to fix it.

I teleport back after the three minutes is over. I'm still not done with my breakfast but I'm short on time. I leave the plate of pancakes in the fridge, hoping to get to it later. I leave the house, already knowing who's waiting outside.

"You didn't answer when I knocked on the door earlier," he follows me. My attempts to ignore him only make him more agitated. "Buddy, hey, buddy. Were you brushing your teeth? My mother says you have to brush for two minutes or the tooth fairy won't come," he pokes at my back. I contemplate teleporting away since Nendou probably won't even realize it but it's too risky with the number of people around.

"Hey Saiki," I recognize that voice. "I found more abandoned buildings, let's search them for the Dark Reunion after school." His hand is bandaged as always, he covers his left eye, murmuring something about the power having spread. So it's like cancer?

Nendou laughs, but it sounds more like a rabid dog barking. "You still believe in that crap?!" Kaidou's face flushes a shade of crimson I didn't believe to be humanly possible until today. I hate to admit it, but Nendou's right. "S-Shut up!" Kaidou's voice cracks. He's like a little girl.

I'm busy today, go with Kuboyasu. Without another word, I stride ahead. Nendou follows close behind, Kaidou sulking behind him. "Hey buddy," he pokes me again. "Why do you reply to Kaidou and not me? Wanna get ramen after school?" No, I'm busy.

Truthfully, I have nothing to do after school, but anything's better than hanging with these two dingbats. Here comes Annoyance 3. The "oh"s and "ah"s greet me as I watch Teruhashi strut into school. She wouldn't be so popular if they knew what she was thinking.

Look at all these morons, thinking they can have me. My heart belongs to only one person. "Saiki!" She's right behind me isn't she? "I was thinking, we should go to the beach it's almost summer after-" No, I'm busy.

"Oh, well, then maybe tomorrow?" Her usual glow seems to diminish a little. Still busy. "When are you not busy?" She whines. It gets her way with most people, but I'm not most people. I'm busy all month.

"But..." She trails off as I walk up to my shoe locker. "Saiki!" The unmistakable purple hair and pervy attitude. Toritsuka. Yare yare, what now?

"I need you to check if this girl likes-" Absolutely not. "Why not? I'll lend you my porno magazines for free." That makes it worse.

I just need to get to class. I shut the sliding door on Toritsuka's face as always, relieved to get away from the perv. There's two minutes to the bell. Great. I set my bag down, ready to be as average as possible. We have a quiz on geography today. While I could ace it with my powers, it would draw too much attention.

The bell chimes, I hear Toritsuka groan from across the hallway. I can only assume he's late to class(or I could check with clairvoyance but that's too much of a hassle. "Quiz everybody," Ms Kyouka's voice is the most normal thing of today. Everyone collectively sighs as she begins handing out the papers. To be average, I have to be 18th to hand in my paper. That won't be too difficult.

I can barely hear the timer start in the jumble of thoughts in everyone's heads. I start by looking in Kuboyasu's head. Why are you thinking of motorcycles? That's no use. I move on to Teruhashi's vain thoughts about herself. Then to Kaidou's answers, half of which are incoherent. All of them are going to fail.

The bell chimes again. I'd turned in my paper exactly twenty minutes ago. "Class dismissed," Ms Kyouka tries to snatch the test from a pleading Kaidou. How is he not done? "That was such an easy test," Nendou smirks. "Right buddy?"

Yare yare, I have a feeling he got them all wrong.
