“WE ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER!”
Sehun keeps his head down and walks faster away from the BIOL student who came dressed as a fortune teller for Halloween and has been spewing out nonsense predictions all day long in the university’s cafeteria. He’d seen the young man before, hanging out with Baekhyun and his friends, and pinned him as a nice sort.
Until today.
Laughter follows Sehun down the hallway, but luckily stops once he exits out to the courtyard. “God, this world is full of crazies.”
Shaking his head, he makes his way back to the dorms. Next class isn’t until the afternoon, so he’s got a good chunk of time to waste and the new Zelda game is calling him. But just as Sehun walks into the dorm building, he runs into Jongdae.
“Bro!”
“Hey, dude,” Sehun says. “Where you headed?”
“CHEM midterm.” Chen grins. “Gonna bomb that shit so hard.”
Sehun snorts.
“How about we grab some pizza and beer after I exit that hell?”
“Sure, thing.” Sehun claps in on the shoulder. “Call me when you get out and I’ll pick you up.”
“Perfect!” Chen waves and opens the door to head out, but stumbles against a tall body.
Sehun’s eyes widen. He quickly turns and dashes away, but the booming voice still reaches him.
“OH SEHUN, DO NOT RUN FROM YOUR DESTINY!”
Skipping the elevator, Sehun takes the god damned stairs and races to the fourth floor. He’s heaving and sweating like a pig when he reaches the top, but at least he’s far away with the crazy “fortune teller” moron.
Sehun glares at the driver and slightly panics when the window rolls down. And then he panics for a whole other reason, because the person inside is none other than…
“WE BELONG AT EACH OTHER’S SIDE! LET US UNITE!”
Gunning it out of the parking lot, Sehun drops a barrage of curses all the way to picking up Jongdae. Seriously, how the fuck was he going to survive two more days until Halloween with this idiot screaming fortunes about them at every chance encounter?
Jongdae is waiting at the bus stop near the CHEM building, and he jumps inside Sehun’s car with a stressed-out groan. “Food. Now.”
Sehun chuckles. “That bad, huh?”
“Actually, no.” Jongdae runs a hand down his face. “A buddy let me copy some answers off his test before he handed in, but bro, trying not to get caught was even more stressful!”
“Maybe try studying next time?”
Jongdae pauses, and then grins. “Nah! Gotta live life on the edge! Stress, bombing tests, cheating—it’s all part of uni life.” His phone chimes. “Oh, yeah. I invited the dude to come with us for pizza. That okay?”
“Sure.” Sehun wasn’t particularly fond of socializing, but he didn’t mind it. Besides, with Jongdae with him, all the talk time would be manipulated by him.
The pizza place is full when they arrive, nothing surprising considering it was midterm week. As the tallest one, it’s up to Sehun to spot them a seat, but what he spots makes him recoil.
“Yo! Jongdae!” The fortune teller dude waves excitedly at them from a table, pointing to the free seats across from him.
Jongdae waves back, giving him a thumbs up.
“Is this who we’re meeting?” Sehun squeaks out.
“Yeah, that’s the dude to let me cheat off his test,” Jongdae says. “Go ahead and sit. I need to take a leak.” His friend disappears to the bathroom.
A glance back at the table shows the fortune teller is still grinning and waving.
“For fucks sake,” Sehun mutters, but heads over to the table anyways. He plops down across from the young man and glares. “Listen, could you drop the whole fortune telling thing? It’s fucking embarrassing.”
The fortune teller grins wider. “Sure thing! All you had to do was ask, not run away like a possessed chicken.”
Sehun rolls his eyes.
A hearty laugh. “Look, I’m sorry if I really bothered you,” he says, ruffling his curly red mop and looking quite adorable doing it. “I’m Chanyeol by the way.”
“Sehun,” he says reluctantly when he sees the other waiting.
“I’ve seen you around uni before,” Chanyeol says. “Hanging out with Jongdae and Baekhyun. And…I think you’re very cute. So, I’d like to take you out on a date and find out?”
Startled out of his anger, Sehun gapes. No one’s ever been that direct with him before. Also, how dare this asshole turn out to be so handsome up close? He clears his throat. “Find out what?”
“If we really belong together,” Chanyeol says, a teasing smile curling up one side of his mouth, and man, is that charming as all hell or what.
Sehun crosses his arms. “I’m picking the place.”
Chanyeol thumps the table in triumph. “Deal!”
