Chapter Text
Chat Noir yells out in pain as he gets slammed against a brick wall by Desperada.
“You'll never beat me!”
Desperada shouted.
“Chat Noir! Are you okay?”
Ladybug shouted while running and swinging her yoyo, worried for her partner.
“I'm fine.. M’lady.”
He grunted as he got back on his feet, picking up his metal staff that had fallen on the floor.
This was the first time they had ever fought a villain they felt like they couldn't win against.
Desperada left the boy alone to go after his partner.
“Come here you cockroach!”
Desperada yelled, while running after Ladybug in the middle of the bridge near the eiffel tower.
“Getting frustrated? Maybe you should take a swim!”
Ladybug backed up, to make sure she wasn't on the bridge. Then she wrapped her yoyo up around it and pulled until it started to crumble. The bridge cracked as Desperada looked down in confusion and fell through the brick bridge while screaming.
Chat Noir finally managed to catch up with his partner, landing beside her on the concrete road with a thump.
“I guess that'll buy us some time?”
“Cmon!”
The girl wrapped her yoyo around a random building and swung away.
“Wait! Where are we going? Ladybug!”
Chat Noir pulled his staff out and launched up into the air as he followed.
They both landed on the top of an apartment building.
“So M’lady, what's your plan?”
“Thats the thing, I don't have a plan this time! My lucky charm isn't very helpful either.”
She looked down at the flute covered in red with black polka dots.
“I mean seriously! What am I supposed to do with a flute!”
“Maybe you could play some lullabies?”
Chat Noir joked playfully.
“This is no time for jokes, kitty! I don't know what to do.. I feel like im failing-”
Ladybug was interrupted by a thump beside her. She swiftly turned her head around to see a girl wearing an orange and white suit. The skintight latex suit reminded Ladybug of a fox, She had green piercing eyes and long brown hair that stopped at her waist. Her hair had orange near the ends, and then white which blended nicely with the brown. There was a wide belt that hugged her hips, connected to a cape that hung nicely down to her feet. Ladybug looked at her necklace. It was a shiny gold chain that had a charm shaped like a fox tail with different shades of orange and some white. Where has she seen that before? As she was trying to remember where the necklace could possibly be from, the girl spoke up.
“Need some help?”
She asked, confidently stepping forward.
“Who are you?”
Ladybug said.
“I'm Volpina. I was sent to help you and Chat Noir out!”
“Nice to meet you.” Chat Noir said, teasing. He playfully walked around her.
Volpina smirked as she played with Chat Noir's bell.
“Nice tail, cat man.”
She giggled.
“We don't need any help, Volpina. We were doing perfectly fine.”
Ladybug said, crossing her arms and turning her head to the side while pouting.
After seeing Volpina flirt with Chat Noir, she felt fire in her heart, a pit in her stomach, disappointment. She couldn't put her finger on what emotion it was. Jealousy? She thought. No! I'm not jealous.
“I wouldn't say that, I mean.. you can’t even defeat Desperada.”
Volpina chuckled.
“It's funny to see how hard you're trying.”
Ladybug growled.
“Who even sent you here to help us?”
“Master Fu, of course. He was just so worried that you guys were struggling, so he gave me the fox miraculous to help make it easier!”
She held her fox necklace.
“So Volpina, what's our plan to take down Desperada?”
Chat Noir questioned.
“I say I should make an illusion of Jagged Stone, since he's the reason she got akumatized. She'll be so angered and focused on him that it'll give us time for Chat Noir to sneak behind her and cataclysm the ground beneath her. And then we can break her guitar case. Which is her akumatized object, am I right?”
Volpina said.
“Yeah whatever. Lets just get this over with already.”
Ladybug huffed.
I don't like this “Volpina.” She thought. She came out of nowhere! Why would Master Fu even send her? How does he know to trust her?
What if she's not even a real superhero and she stole the miraculous from him? Me and Chat were doing perfectly fine without her!
“Great! Nice to meet you two.”
Volpina smiled.
“Come on, we don't have much time before she finds us!”
Volpina leaped away.
Ladybug hesitated to follow her, Its risky. Although, I don't have a choice. I have to defeat Desperada. Before she could follow Volpina she heard a voice behind her.
“M'lady? Is everything alright?”
Chat Noir asked. He had noticed Ladybug acting off when Volpina had showed up.
“I'm fine.”
She said as she pulled her yoyo out, hooking it around the building nearest to Volpina and left.
Ladybug landed right next to Volpina on a small building, watching Desperada look for the 2 superheros.
“I'm going to find you one way or another Ladybug and Chat Noir. You can't hide forever!”
Desperada exclaimed.
“I'll make the illusion now. Chat Noir you stay ready, got it?”
Volpina said, putting her flute against her mouth.
“Got it!”
Chat Noir replied.
“And you Ladybug, just grab the guitar case before she falls through.”
Volpina said.
Ladybug fumed. Seriously, what is this girl's problem? Acting like she's above me? Acting like she's the leader!
Volpina closed her eyes, playing her flute. She created a glowing orb then yelled “Mirage!” and threw the orb right on the road, in front of Desperada creating an exact look alike of Jagged Stone.
Ladybug just watched in boredom.
“Chat Noir you're on!”
Volpina whispered.
Desperada looked in front of her and yelled out of anger.
“You're dead Jagged!”
But before she could get to him she heard a voice behind her.
“Cataclysm!” Chat Noir yelled.
He took his hand and pressed it against the concrete floor beneath the villain, causing it to crack.
As Desperada fell through ladybug grabbed her guitar case with her yoyo and ripped it in half. She captured the akuma quickly, too annoyed to do her sequence.
She tapped her yoyo and said
“Bye bye little butterfly.”
She watched as the now purified akuma flew away.
She took out her lucky charm that was in her pocket, to throw it up in the air and put everything back to normal but before she did she stared at it with confusion.
It had nothing to do with how we defeated the villain, but how is that possible? My lucky charm always plays a part.
She didn't want to think too much about it so she threw it up in the air and yelled
“Miraculous Ladybug!”
as she watched thousands of ladybugs swarm around Paris, fixing all the damage Desperada caused.
Ladybug looked over to her side to see Chat Noir and Volpina holding their fists out waiting for her.
Ladybug looked at Volpina's mouth and rolled her eyes as she saw her smile. The annoyed girl bumped her fists with the other 2.
“Pound it.”
She said with a cold voice.
“How'd I do, Bug?”
Volpina smirked as she drew closer to Ladybug
She could feel Volpina's breath on her face, smell her orange scented lipgloss. She yelped as she jerked back.
“Uh- Not bad for your first day. I guess!”
Her cheeks went pink. Why is she so touchy!
“I look forward to seeing you again. And you too Chat Noir. Fox out!”
Ladybug watched as Volpina leaped away.
“She even stole my line!”
Ladybug growled.
“I know you might not like her M'lady, but aren't you happy to have more help on the team? I think we could use it.”
Chat Noir said, attempting to comfort his partner. He didn't really understand why Ladybug was so mad. Sure Volpina was a bit.. cheeky. But she still was a nice person.
“Are you kidding me? All she could do was flirt with you the entire time! Shes not even that good.”
Ladybug crossed her arms.
“She did help us defeat Desperada, you cant deny that. It would have been harder if she didn't show up.”
“But shes-”
Chat Noir cut off Ladybug
“You know I'm always on your side, I always will be. But let's just give her a chance?”
“Whatever.”
“Gotta go, don't want my dad to notice I'm gone.”
Chat noir took out his staff and extended it as he used it to leap away.
“Miss you already bugaboo!”
He shouted from a few meters away.
“I told you like a million times to not call me that!”
Ladybug yelled back at him.
She hated that boy, but in reality she doesn't know where she'd be without him.
Marinette landed on her balcony, detransforming with a pink flash. She quietly opened her balcony trapdoor, crawling onto her comfy bed and laying down on it as she sighed.
“Is everything okay Marinette?”
Tikki asked.
“Everythings..fine Tikki. I'm just thinking about Volpina. Why would Master Fu not tell me before adding her into our team? How does he know she's trustworthy?”
“When Master Fu chooses a miraculous holder, he's very careful to pick the right one! He must have not had the time to let you know about her, but I'm sure you can trust her Marinette! Master Fu is a very wise man.”
“You're right Tikki.. I should probably stop thinking about her too much.”
Marinette thinks back to when Volpina was so close to her face. She remembers the smell of her lipgloss, how soft her lips looked. The girl blushed, and shook her head. Stop thinking about her Marinette! she thought to herself.
“Goodnight Tikki.. I'm going to bed”
Marinette turned onto her side and pulled her pink blanket over her and closed her eyes.
“Goodnight Marinette..”
Tikki yawned and laid down right next to Marinette's head.
The moonlight shimmered through her window, the city quieting down as night fell.
