restless heart

Summary:

Baablu couldn't believe this. He had no idea how he'd gotten himself into this situation, heart beating a mile a minute, breath coming in short. The biome they were in was cold and yet he felt like he'd burst into flames any second. And all of this because of a creeper they'd seen too late.

Or: Fantst and Baablu are forced to sleep in only one bed

Notes:

I'm so serious I don't know how this happened
No one will read this at least so I don't have to worry about that lmao
Couldn't resist when they always sleep next to each other like come on how do I have to be the one to write this...
Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

bubbo2000: everyone has a bed?

Baablu: yes

Boosfer: nooo don't

bubbo2000: where tf r u jack

Jackattack101go: I'm stuck in a cave guys

Jackattack101go: idk if i can makw it out to sleep

Baablu: dude

Baablu: dig up

"I can't believe this idiot", Fantst mumbled next to him, making Baablu look up from the communicator in his hand. "I totally can. He's gonna cost us the win, man", Baablu complained as he continued following Fantst across the open flower fields stretching in front of them, snowy mountains to their left and a taiga to their right. The cold wind brushed against his skin and through his hair, making him shiver slightly.

Gods, what he'd do to get this over with already. He could feel quiet annoyance bubble beneath his skin, eyebrows furrowing. He ignored it for now, unwilling to already ruin the lighthearted mood of this manhunt so early on.

He couldn't stop himself from rolling his eyes, though, when even more messages of Jack being unable to get to the surface in time popped up on the device in his hand. "We should've stuck together", Fantst said, turning his head back towards Baablu. The other's brilliant blue eyes landed on him, the setting sun illuminating him in a soft golden light that made his skin glisten, glittering like stars. Baablu ignored the sudden dryness in his throat as he scoffed.

"They would've slowed us down. We're geared up now and we even have some spare iron for one of them", Baablu argued, showing off the freshly crafted diamond sword with a slight grin. "We just need to sleep through this night and then we get Boosfer's ass." Fantst laughed at him, smile as intoxicating as ever as he steered away the tip of the sword from him with his right hand.

"Sure, yeah. The mechanics of this one are so lame, really. Can't believe there isn't more to it." Baablu could only agree. "He probably has something up his sleeve. Like- as soon as he gets to the End he's totally overpowered because it's 'constantly night' or some bullshit like that", he said, putting air quotes around the words after he'd sheathed his sword again.

It wasn't unusual for Boosfer to put a twist to his manhunts that made it almost impossible for the hunters to win after a while. Whether that be giving himself insane loot through random mobs or stealing their hearts whenever he killed one of them, reducing their health, he always made sure he'd definitely make it out on top. It was frustrating, sometimes, but Baablu would never turn down a challenge he was convinced he could win, so he always agreed to participate anyway.

Now, this wasn't really the case.

Sure, Boosfer gained strength, speed, regeneration and x-ray vision during the night, effectively making him much stronger than the rest of them, but they could easily counter that by stopping the night from happening. He'd even made that easier for them by erasing himself from the equation, only requiring the four hunters to sleep at the same time for the night to pass quickly. It seemed too easily counter-able to be one of Boosfer's manhunts. Baablu couldn't help but wonder what else the other had planned, suspicious of this way-too-easy challenge.

Then again, they probably were their own worst enemy, seeing as Jack was still in a cave.

He watched Fantst place down his bed, yellow sheets and a white pillow matching the one he still had in his inventory. They'd gotten them from a village pretty early on with Bubbo and Jack, everyone making sure to grab one and securely store it away. Bubbo had died to Boosfer in the beginning, but they'd managed to save his red bed and give it back to him. Baablu wasn't worried about him.

The sun was almost fully gone, the moon already showing it's face, crescent and hidden behind a few clouds. Mobs would be spawning soon, skeletons and creepers their biggest worry out here in the open plains. They had to get to sleep quickly, if just to avoid anything happening.

"I swear to god, if it's dark before Jack gets his ass in a bed-", Baablu said, placing his bed next to Fantst's like he always did. "I'll kill him myself-" "We have a whole field to us, why do you have to be so close?", Fantst complained, his frown obviously fake as he broke his bed to put it down two blocks away from his. Baablu bit down on his lip to keep himself from laughing, a grin threatening to spread across his lips at their familiar routine.

The banter made his heart beat faster as he broke his own bed to place it right next to Fantst's again, raising one eyebrow at him. "What's your problem?" Fantst threw his hands in the air, huffing as he decided to move his bed again, this time three blocks away. "You! Stop trying to get close!" "But I wanna cuddle", Baablu complained, whining slightly. He could see Fantst's terrible mask breaking, lips twitching up as he tried to keep scowling at him.

No matter who started this useless, repetitive argument, they always made sure to be as annoying as possible. It was exciting, in a way, to try and make Fantst laugh at his antics, to break through the annoyed mask he wore. He could tell he was close, could tell that Fantst was as amused as he was by the way his tail swished behind him, his gills on the side of his head twitching slightly.

"That sounds like a you problem", Fantst said, positioning himself between his bed and Baablu, crossing his arms. It wasn't really intimidating, the thick cloak he wore over his armour bunching up comically around his neck. Baablu accepted the silly challenge, setting his right foot behind himself before he tried to sprint around Fantst to try and place his bed down next to the other's again. He didn't succeed, Fantst getting in his way easily with a smug grin on his face.

Baablu groaned, heart in his throat as he stopped in front of Fantst, a few feet away from his bed. "Come on, we need to sleep." "You can sleep over here", Fantst argued again, gills pinned to his head when a sudden gust of wind rushed over the fields, stray leaves floating by. It took Baablu's attention away from the other, taking in their surroundings, that he'd previously ignored in favour of focusing only on Fantst, again.

It was dark. The sun had completely vanished, leaving only shadows and monsters behind. He could hear zombies in the distance, could see the red eyes of spiders in the taiga watching them, waiting to strike. A shudder ran down his spine, hair on his neck immediately standing up as his eyes quickly snapped back to Fantst. The other had his shield equipped, eyes skipping around, only taking in the situation in front of him.

It made it easy to miss the creeper coming up behind him, quietly walking towards Fantst with the single goal to get close enough to kill him. Baablu watched the creeper spark once before adrenaline shot through him, making him move towards Fantst without a second thought. The warning words got stuck in his throat, mouth open in a silent shout as he grasped for the other's hand, eyes wide, heart pounding in his ears.

His hand closed around Fantst's wrist, the cold, almost wet skin familiar beneath his calloused palm as he dragged the other towards himself. Fantst yelped, voice high and shocked as he stumbled away from the creeper. His shield connected with Baablu's chest plate with a loud clang, the momentum almost forcing them to the ground. Only years of practice and experience let them balance out the sudden shift, avoiding a fall to the ground.

It didn't really matter, because they got thrown to the ground by an explosion a second later, the creeper blowing up behind them. Baablu hit his head on the ground hard, Fantst landing on top of him. Air left his lungs in a choked gasp, head spinning from the impact as he tried to blink away the spots from his vision. He could barely process what had happened, body moving on autopilot when he equipped his own shield, blocking an arrow directed at his head.

"Baablu", Fantst gasped, pushing off of the other man slower than usually, movements stiffer than normal. Baablu knew it was because of the weather, knew that even when Fantst was good at pushing through he couldn't do anything against the hybrid part of himself that automatically shut down when it got too cold. It wasn't freezing and Baablu knew he didn't have to worry about the other, that he was a capable fighter and good at taking care of himself.

Still, he couldn't stop himself from pushing Fantst behind himself when they stood up again, protecting the other from a horde of zombies. "Get behind me- run, run, run!", he urged, pushing at Fantst's back. The hybrid didn't wait, slashing through a zombie before he ran towards the woods. Baablu followed him, ears ringing as he panted, blood rushing through his body.

"Come on!", Fantst yelled, building up on oak planks to escape the mobs, leaving Baablu behind. He didn't quite mind, ignoring the pain sparking through his skull as he jumped up on a block of cobblestone, following Fantst up into the air. It didn't take long for them to build a small house, if it could even be called that. The walls were mismatched and uneven, the roof brushing against Fantst's hair as he placed a torch on the wall to illuminate the small room.

There was barely enough space for them, but they were safe, at least. Baablu greedily took in air, taking stock of his own body before he looked over at Fantst, already eating a piece of bread to regain some of the health he'd lost in the explosion. "That was insane", Fantst said between bites, offering Baablu another piece of bread. He shook his head. "No thanks, I got my own- but yeah! That creeper came out of nowhere."

"You could've warned me", Fantst said, pouting slightly. "I tried!" "Instead you almost killed us both-" "I definitely did not!", Baablu protested, heart slowly but steadily getting back into a normal rhythm, his health regenerating after he'd eaten something himself. Baablu had only lost a few hearts, surely Fantst hadn't been that bad off. Besides, they were both alive, what did it matter? They were save, they were far enough away from the mobs, and they could get to sleep now-

Wait.

"Fantst", Baablu said after he checked his own inventory for the bed, reaffirming that he still had his own, looking tentatively over to the other. Fantst's gaze landed on him without hesitation, humming to signal that he was listening. "Do you still have your bed?" The other's tail stopped behind him, realisation quickly morphing into horror on his face when he looked through his inventory. It was confirmation enough to Baablu.

Fantst groaned. "No- I- ugh, it must have gotten destroyed in the explosion", he whined, dragging his hands over his face before he looked hopefully at Baablu. "Do you have two?" "Why would I have two beds?" "I don't know! To make sure Boosfer doesn't win?", Fantst said, voice still pitched high. He sounded desperate and Baablu couldn't blame him. They'd had one job, to keep their beds safe, and somehow one creeper had managed to ruin everything.

"It's so over", Fantst sighed before he sat down on the floor, wrapping his cloak around himself to preserve some warmth, most likely. He looked pitiful. Baablu wanted to wrap him up in his arms, warm him with his own body heat and kiss his pretty pink cheeks and chapped lips, that the other was currently gnawing on. Instead of doing anything like that he looked at his communicator, the device blinking with unread messages. If he looked any longer at Fantst he'd cave and do something he'd regret.

Jackattack101go: is it night already?

bubbo2000: ALMOST

Boosfer: nope

Boosfer: don't believe him hes a lying liar who lies

Jackattack101go: found a space with no mobs

Jackattack101go: fucking finally

bubbo2000: YES

bubbo2000: fantst baablu r u rdy?

Boosfer: calling it now they somehow lose their beds

bubbo2000: fuck offff

Jackattack101go: in bed!

bubbo2000: same

bubbo2000: guys where the fuck r u

bubbo2000: it's night now

bubbo2000: COME ON

Jackattack101go: HELlo

Boosfer: take your time boys

He rolled his eyes before he glanced at Fantst, who'd also pulled out his communicator. They didn't have two beds now, they couldn't sleep through the night. Maybe they should go out and try to find Boosfer, not to kill him but to follow him around until daylight. It wasn't the bast plan, it was barely a good plan, but they couldn't sit around and do nothing all night. If they couldn't sleep they had to do something productive, maybe enchant their armour and-

Fantst: almost got killed, getting in bed now

Fantst: sorry for delay

"What?", Baablu asked, confused at Fantst's message. When he looked up Fantst was already standing again, brushing the dust and dirt from his clothes, eyes and head turned away from him. "We can't let Boosfer win, dude. Not during such a lame manhunt", Fantst said, as if that explained anything. It just confused Baablu more, eyebrows furrowing when the hybrid finally looked at him again. "Yeah, obviously, but we can't-"

"You have a bed, right?", Fantst interrupted him, blue eyes locking with his dark ones intensely. "We can just share." What? Baablu could feel his face fall in shock, heart stopping for a second at the suggestion. Share the bed? Was the other insane? Sure they joked a lot but- Fantst snorted out a laugh. "Don't look at me like that! It's just for one night, it's not-" "No- I mean- what-", Baablu said, stumbling over his words as he tried to come up with something. "We- we'd never fit in one bed together."

Fantst tilted his head, his gills moving languidly with the movement, the flickers of the torchlight catching in the blue and pink beautifully. "Weren't you the one who wanted to cuddle?" Baablu felt heat creep up his neck. "Shut up, you know I was joking", he said, sounding way too embarrassed. This was stupid. There was no reason for him to take this so seriously. Sure, his heart might jump out of his chest if he slept any closer to Fantst than he usually did, but the other definitely didn't need to know that.

He had to be normal about this. They were best friends, they could share a bed. That was totally fine and normal.

"Come on, Baablu", Fantst said, voice tilting up again, a pout on his lips as he looked down to his communicator again. "It won't be that bad. We can't let Boosfer have this." The reminder of Boosfer's stupid manhunt made a new spark of dedication erupt in Baablu. It was just one night. One night that would be over in less than five seconds, the server pulling them into a state of unconsciousness to quickly reset to morning.

Baablu couldn't let Boosfer win just because of his stupid crush on his stupid friend. There was just no way. He had his pride, after all. If he just gave up like this they'd never let him live this down. Granted, when they found out that he and Fantst slept in the same bed they'd also never let that go, but- well, Baablu didn't really mind that option all too much.

"Okay, sure. Whatever", he agreed, ignoring the flutter in his chest at the excited look on Fantst's face. "Just don't take the blanket for yourself." He forced his eyes away from the other as he looked through his inventory before he placed down the bed, barely fitting into the small space between the two men. "You know I will", Fantst said, throwing himself onto the bed almost immediately. Baablu tried to be annoyed by it, but-

Gods, he was about to sleep in a bed with Fantst. What the fuck was his life, really?

He watched with flushed cheeks as Fantst settled into the bed, pulling the sheets over his body, not removing any of his armour or clothes. It would be useless, they wouldn't be able to feel uncomfortable for long enough for it to matter. Still, part of Baablu was unreasonably sad at the fact he wouldn't be able to feel much of Fantst's skin against his, armour and clothes keeping just too many layers between them.

The other part was really worried about the logistics of two grown men in heavy armour fitting into a single bed, especially when one of them had a tail. There was just no way this would work, he should call this off. Either they'd both just end up sleeping half on the floor or half on top of each other and- that- that really wasn't something Baablu could handle. He'd die.

Fantst patted the bed impatiently. "You're wasting time, come on. Just get your ass in here and it'll be done." He was right, of course. "Yeah, yeah." Baablu rolled his eyes for show as he swallowed, walking the two short steps to be on the other side of the bed before he sat down. He could feel Fantst staring at him, eyes looking right through him into his soul, into his chest where his heart was beating erratically once more.

Baablu swung his legs up as he settled down on his back, immediately regretting his decision when he felt Fantst's chest plate dig into his exposed shoulder. He groaned, shuffling to the side a bit, almost falling off the edge of the bed in the process. "Fuck, dude, move-", he said, receiving a huff in response. "Move where? I'm barely on the bed, man." He couldn't quite believe that, but when he sat up to glare at the other he could see that Fantst hadn't been lying, his right shoulder hanging off the bed, tail on the floor.

Clearly, both of them laying on their backs wasn't going to work. Baablu hated his life. "Okay, just- lay on our side", he instructed, already moving to lay on his left side, facing away from Fantst in hopes of calming the fast pace of his heart and his racing thoughts. If he couldn't see the other, maybe he could pretend that this wasn't happening, that Fantst wasn't even an inch away from him.

His plans got ruined by Fantst's tail pushing against his back and then almost out of the bed. It was strong and cold, even through the layers of clothing, pressing against the backs of his knees, too. "Can you move a little more, or-", Fantst asked, before he got interrupted by an annoyed groan. "No, I- fuck this, this isn't going to work", Baablu said, frustrated and annoyed. This was a waste of time. They should whisper to Bubbo and Jack to meet them here, maybe, and then they'd make a plan.

He pushed himself up, ready to leave the bed, when Fantst's hand wrapped around his wrist, keeping him from moving. "Wha-" "Stop being so difficult!" "You know as much as I do that we both don't fit comfortably into this bed, it's just not-" "Obviously not when- ugh-", Fantst huffed, dragging Baablu back into the bed. "Just stay like this for a second, okay?" His heart skipped a beat, maybe two, when he heard shuffling behind himself.

Baablu should make a joke, maybe. Should look. All he did was stare at the cobblestone in front of his face, shallow breaths escaping his lungs. What was Fantst doing? It sounded like he was moving, sheets rustling and armour clinking together. Where would he be going? What was his plan? The only way for them to get comfortable would mean way too much contact. Surely Fantst didn't-

He almost jumped out of his skin when he felt a hand on his shoulder, steady and familiar, not quite warm. "This is so much easier", the other said, breath brushing against the back of Baablu's neck. He suppressed the shudder threatening to run through him as he processed their situation, Fantst throwing the blanket over both of them. They- Fantst was laying right behind him, his face so close that he could feel the other's breath tingle across his bare neck, hand on his shoulder.

Admittedly, Baablu wasn't as close to the edge of the bed anymore and Fantst seemed to be settled as well. It wasn't necessarily a terrible solution to their problem, and yet Baablu wanted nothing more than to sink into the floor. He could hear his pulse in his ears, could feel the lump in his throat and the sweat on his hands as he grasped onto himself just to hold onto something. Fantst was right there. Gods.

"Sure. Let's just sleep", Baablu replied, glad that Fantst couldn't see his face like this. His voice didn't sound as shaky as he felt, so that was a win at least. If there was one thing Baablu could do it was bluff himself through terrible situations. Hopefully this wasn't anything different.

With everyone in their bed, it shouldn't take too long for the server to reset to day. It meant he only had to endure this torture for a bit longer, hold his breath and pray that Fantst couldn't hear his heartbeat in the silence of the night, that the other didn't pick up on his weird breathing pattern. Just a few more seconds. This was fine. Baablu could do this. He'd survived swimming through lava, surely the presence of his best friend against his back wouldn't be the thing that burned him to death.

Baablu could almost feel sleep take him under when he felt Fantst move closer, their chest plates clanking against each other while the hand moved from his shoulder down his arm. The contact snapped him out of it immediately, eyes opening as he froze in spot. "Dude, what?", he asked, trying to sound nonchalant and not like he held his heart right on his tongue.

Fantst didn't answer immediately, instead just pressing closer against Baablu from behind. He felt the other's nose brush against the nape of his neck, right below his hairline, just before he pressed half of his face against Baablu's burning skin. The contact was cold and slightly moist, like it always was when he touched Fantst, or the other touched him. It still managed to feel scorching hot, the touch making Baablu's blood boil.

"You're warm", Fantst mumbled against his skin, lips brushing against him, mockingly similar to a kiss. Baablu could feel the hairs on his neck stand up, skin flushing as he tried to laugh it off. "Of course I am to you. That doesn't explain why-", he said, getting interrupted again by Fantst, the other's arm worming it's way beneath Baablu, his shirt riding up in the process. "I need to get warmer or I won't wake up."

Baablu almost didn't hear him, attention on the hands skimming over the sliver of skin where his chest plate ended and the armour for his legs started. The other hand who'd previously been on his arm had abandoned its place, fingers instead sneaking beneath the edge of his shirt, making him shiver. Baablu didn't know what to do, could barely comprehend what was happening. Fantst was- he was touching him? To get warmer? That had to be a joke. This couldn't be real.

The other's right hand slipped fully beneath his shirt, cold palm pressing against his side and stomach. Baablu's breath hitched unintentionally, too loud in the silence of the night. Fantst froze behind him. "Baablu?" Gods, his mouth was so close to his ear, Baablu wanted nothing more than to turn around, turn his face and kiss him. The uncertainty in the other's voice made him halt, though. "This is fine, right?", Fantst asked quietly, thumb brushing against his skin.

Baablu swallowed, scared he'd make a noise if he opened his mouth too soon, before he answered quickly. "Yes! I- of course. Don't want you to die on me, dude." He cringed slightly, even when he felt Fantst relax behind him, webbed hands moving across his skin and leaving goosebumps behind again. "I wouldn't die, idiot." "Shut up." There was no bite behind his words, his voice just a bit too breathless when Fantst pressed himself impossibly closer.

His hands were still cold against Baablu's skin, making shivers run through him and heat pool in his gut, right behind where they rested now, drawing small circles into his skin. The fingers brushed against his waistband again and again, threatening to dip below but never daring. It was unbearable, electricity running through Baablu with every touch, every breath that fanned over the back of his neck. His whole body felt like a live-wire, like a rubber band ready to snap.

To think that they were supposed to sleep.

Butterflies threatened to choke him, stomach flipping when he felt Fantst's knees press against the back of his own, the other completely hugging him from behind. They- fuck, they had never done this before. This was- of course they touched and hugged and even killed each other but- never this. They had never been this close before, never had so much physical contact and yet Baablu cursed their clothes and armour.

If they were on another server, somewhere where they could sleep through the night normally, somewhere where they'd undress- they'd be able to touch so much more. As it was, Baablu couldn't feel the press of the other's chest against his back, couldn't feel as much of the other's cold skin against his as he wanted. It was already too much, every point of contact sending heat through his body, but he'd give everything for there to be more.

Fantst hummed behind him, the sound low and almost too quiet to hear. Baablu's head was spinning, heart beating way too fast in his chest when the hybrid's hands pushed up, moving below his shirt and chest plate slowly. They brushed against the hair on his stomach, coming to a stop somewhere close to his sternum. Baablu bit down on his lip, breath hitching with every breath that pushed Fantst's palms against his skin, trapped between his body and the iron armour.

Oh gods. Fantst's arms rested against his skin now, the contact foreign and amazing, more skin to skin contact than he'd ever allow himself. He felt his skin twitch with every move, could feel the way his muscles tensed as he tried to keep himself in place. He didn't know where he'd move, if he'd try to follow the hands in front or push back against Fantst, to try and be even closer. Fuck, if they weren't wearing armour he could-

"Your heart's racing, dude. Are you okay?", Fantst asked, the words brushing softly against Baablu's skin. He tensed, blood freezing in his veins as his heart stopped beating. Oh gods, Fantst knew. Of course he knew, his hands were right above his heart. It would've been a wonder if he hadn't been able to feel his quick heart, hammering against his ribs in an attempt to break through just to finally show the other what he felt.

This was terrible. What was he supposed to say? He couldn't lie, couldn't say that it wasn't beating fast because it was. Had been ever since Fantst had offered to share. How was he- what could he even do? He could lie, could say it was excitement but Fantst would never believe that. Should he just leave the server? Log out? He'd at least be able to avoid this conversation.

At least he wouldn't have to wait for Fantst to push him away, to leave him. He wouldn't have to live with the rejection or disgust. Maybe he'd even lose their friendship, because now Fantst knew. And that- that changed things and that's all Baablu never wanted to happen. He'd wanted to keep this to himself forever, never risking the chance of losing Fantst, of changing what they had, and now- now he'd ruined that and it was only a matter of time until Fantst would let go and turn around and-

And Fantst pressed a kiss against the side of his neck.

That wasn't- that wasn't supposed to happen. What? Was Baablu hallucinating? "Relax, I was just teasing you", Fantst said, pressing his lips against Baablu again. His heart was going to give out at this point, his whole body flushing immediately. What did this mean? Baablu had to say something, he needed to joke about this, to destroy the tension. His mouth was dry, no sound leaving his throat.

"Just sleep", Fantst said. "It's fine." It definitely wasn't. In what world was any of this fine? Baablu was losing his mind. Fantst had kissed him. It might've just been his neck, but that didn't matter. He wanted to ask so many questions, wanted to know what any of this meant. Did Fantst not care? That almost seemed impossible and even then there was no reason for him to kiss him, except-

But that was laughable. There was no way.

Baablu tried to make sense of it, but after so much time in the bed the server was pushing hard for him to finally fall asleep. Fantst seemed to be gone already, no longer moving aside from the slow, steady breaths he took in. He tried to keep his eyes open, tried to push through, if it was just to stay in this moment for a second longer, to stay in Fantst's arms for as long as he could.

It didn't matter much, because Baablu wasn't stronger than server mechanics. His eyes fell closed and his consciousness faded, pulling him into a deep, restless sleep for only a few seconds. He couldn't tell how much time had passed when he opened his eyes again but he knew that morning had arrived and that Fantst was still around him.

It was surreal. Baablu felt like he'd slept for hours, even if he knew it wasn't real, his mind taking some time to realise where he was, who was behind him. Whose hands were still against his skin, not as cold as before. The other woke up at the same time, moving his head so his face wasn't pressed against Baablu anymore. He immediately missed the contact, his skin feeling bare, wrong.

Then the conversation from before the server reset came into his mind again and Baablu just wanted to die. He needed to leave this situation, needed to normalise this before Fantst asked anything. He could save this, somehow. Even if- Even if Fantst had kissed him, and he'd been the first to touch him and the other had been the one to suggest sharing, looking way too excited when Baablu had agreed.

Fuck.

Had the other known before?

It was so over.

Baablu was about to stand up, to roll out of bed and away from Fantst when he felt the other's lips brush against the back of his ear. He froze, breath stuck in his lungs, waiting for Fantst to say something, to do something. Maybe he'd- "Good mornin'!", Fantst said, voice high pitched with an annoying lilt to it, just like always. It shocked a laugh out of Baablu, the whole situation so incredibly weird.

Fantst laughed as well, pushing himself away from Baablu to stand up. He left a pleasant coldness behind, the touch lingering for far longer on Baablu than it should. It didn't take long for Baablu to stand as well, collecting his bed while Fantst looked at his communicator, typing something, prompting Baablu to do the same.

bubbo2000: guys srsly he's gonna be stacked if u don't go to bed soon

Jackattack101go: it says 4/4 bruh

Jackattack101go: is it broken?

Boosfer: lemme check

Boosfer: nope

Boosfer: very weird it should work

Boosfer: not that I'm complaining

Jackattack101go: ugh

4/4 players are sleeping

Boosfer: NOOOOOOO

bubbo2000: thank GODS

bubbo2000: did something happen fantst & baablu

Fantst: no

Fantst: probably just Boosfer being ass at code

Boosfer: I'M NOT

Baablu: you are

Baablu snorted out a quiet laugh as he pocketed the device again. "Do you think it was because of us?", Fantst asked, capturing Baablu's attention easily as he mined the cobblestone on one of their walls. "What do you mean?" He followed Fantst down when he jumped, saving himself with the help of his water bucket. "The server not resetting immediately", Fantst explained, looking at Baablu with furrowed brows. He shrugged.

"I don't know. Maybe?" It was as much thought as he wanted to spend on the night if Fantst was acting like nothing had happened. It was definitely preferable to any other scenario, so Baablu greedily tried to steer the conversation away. "Maybe it got confused with two people in one bed", Fantst suggested, smiling at him.

Baablu felt himself flush, looking away to seem busy as he swapped his bucket for his axe. "Could be. We should get another bed to avoid it, if that's the reason. There was a village a few blocks to the left, so", Baablu said, already walking off. Fantst caught up to him easily, left hand reaching for his to stop him. "Nah", he said. Baablu looked back at him, an eyebrow raised. "What-"

There was a blush on Fantst's cheeks, the pink darker than before as his gills twitched, making him look even prettier. "We don't need that", Fantst said, interlocking his fingers with Baablu's as best as he could, squeezing his hand. "One bed is enough, don't you think?" Baablu was going to die. Logically they still should get another bed, to avoid being completely bed-less if something like last night happened again, but- he couldn't care less about being logical at the moment.

He grinned. "Sure", Baablu said, squeezing Fantst's hand back as he turned around to walk into the direction they'd been going in the night before. "Let's beat Boosfer's ass." Fantst laughed next to him, his hand staying in Baablu's comfortably. They'd have to let go soon enough, but Baablu didn't care as long as he had this, now, heart so full it might explode.

Maybe, Fantst knowing wasn't so bad after all.
