More Than Rest

Summary:

Ruskin wakes up early in the morning to get Mr. Milverton in time.

Work Text:

Before he switched off the lamp, Ruskin, the secretary of the media mogul Charles Augustus Milverton checked if the container was on his bedside cupboard. It was indeed there, waiting for what he needed to do in those early morning hours when he would hear the sounds from the neighboring room. Ruskin didn't sleep deeply so he didn't doubt that he would wake up even without an alarm, but to make sure, he set up one. He knew that he couldn't miss it. Mr. Milverton didn't pay attention to things like these on his own.

But after all, that was what Ruskin was for.

After he reassured himself, Ruskin switched off the lamp and tried to fall asleep. He will need to wake up in a few hours to get ready for the mission.

He woke up before the alarm, but he didn't mind it. At least, he will not disturb Mr. Milverton's sleep. After that, he just lay in the darkness on the bed and stared in front of himself. He didn't let himself fall asleep again. He listened to the noises of the house and waited for his time to come.

He only needed to wait an hour. Then he heard movements from the other side of the wall. It was the sign that Mr. Milverton woke up as well - then the door of his bedroom slowly opened. The quiet footsteps echoed in the corridor. Ruskin jumped up and followed his employer to his destination.

To the toilet.

"Sir." Ruskin called the other man softly when he stepped in. Mr. Milverton got startled by the sudden noise and turned around.

"Ruskin. You scared me. It's early, why don't you sleep?" He tilted his head curiously and Ruskin knew that his employer tried to read him - but he was never able to do it.

Ruskin inhaled a deep breath and he was aware that what he asks from Mr. Milverton will be strange, but necessary.

"Mr. Milverton. I would like you to urinate this time into this." He said and he handed over the container to the other man. He saw that Mr. Milverton's eyes widened and he stared at Ruskin in confusion.

"Why?" Only this word slipped out of his mouth.

"I will send it to a medical check. It is important that once or twice a year, your urination will be analyzed to determine whether your health is good or is there a need for further medical checks." He explained it to him carefully.

"And you need my piss for that." Mr. Milverton repeated and it was clear that he still didn't understand it, but at least, he didn't sound opposing.

Ruskin nodded.

"Yes, sir. I am sorry for the inconvenience." He added, but Mr. Milverton just shrugged his shoulders and took away the container.

"Wait then." He asked and disappeared in the toilet.

Ruskin remained at the other side of the door and tried to be respectful while he listened to the sounds. Mr. Milverton finished in a minute. When he came out of the toilet, the container was filled with a yellow liquid.

"Thank you, sir." Ruskin told the other man and he was about to return to his bedroom to not bother Mr. Milverton anymore when his employer's voice stopped him.

"And instead of giving me the container last evening, you woke up hours earlier to make sure that I pissed right into it." He noted and he sounded amused. Ruskin suspected what he was thinking of. A smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"Well, your health is really important for me, sir." He answered gently. He could hear his employer's quiet remark behind himself.

"More than your own rest."
