Li Yu shivered as he watched the last rays of light disappear above him. An underwater arctic expedition was not his idea of a good time. But the ones in charge had decided that that was what would happen, and unfortunately, Li Yu was in no position to try and change their minds. So he had pulled on as many layers as he could and hoped that the only thing his tiny, one man sub, would see was a few specs of arctic sea algae and maybe a school of fish. Anything more was too much for his poor imagination.
He found that, underwater and completely alone, time had little meaning. Supposedly, the surface was in constant contact with him, to ensure he didn't implode or anything. In reality, there was only a faint buzzing noise every few minutes. Li Yu tried to pass the time, by watching the sea life move out of the way of the high powered lights, through the tiny window at the front of the sub. It was there that he first saw it. At first, it was just a shape in the darkness, and Li Yu tried to pass it off as just a product of an over active imagination.
But as time passed, he noticed the shape more and more. Worse, he noticed it was getting closer. The closer it got, the more Li Yu realized how human it appeared. "Please don't let it be a dead body, please don't let it be a dead body, please please please don't let it be a dead body!" Li Yu chanted as he stood transfixed by the window. He purposefully ignored what the implications of it not being a dead body would mean. That's when he heard a new sound. Someone or something was knocking.
Li Yu let out a whimper as his knees gave out and he fell to the floor. Tears blurred his vision and it was all he could do not to start wailing. The knocking continued, it changed positions, as if whatever was out there was trying to find the door. Li Yu curled into a ball and tried to shove himself under the equipment, as if that would somehow protect him from whatever was knocking. Then he heard something so much infinitely worse. It was the sound of the submarine's hatch door opening. Li Yu was unconscious before the water even hit him.
Mu Tianchi smiled to himself as he made his way inside the strange vessel that his mate had been trapped inside. His mate still walked on two legs and couldn't breathe underwater, Mu Tianchi knew he'd have to act quickly to stop him from dying. He manuvered himself inside the vessel and quickly sealed his lips over Li Yu's. Once he felt his mate's breathing stabilize, Mu Tianchi pulled himself and his new mate out of the contraption and started swimming full speed towards his home, deep beneath the Arctic Ice.
