Dusekkar in my AU I guess

Work Text:

Dusekkar hadn’t thought much of the first followers. Telamon had them, Builderman had them, Doombringer had them, it was more shocking that it had taken this long for Dusekkar to get some. He figured it was fine. Was it irritating to have his name used as a swear? Yeah, but that was really the worst they were doing.

Once they started recruiting people Dusekkar got concerned. He didn’t like the idea of having a large organized group of people worshipping him like a god. He’s an imperfect being after all.

That was the only time he visited the followers. They weren’t dangerous. Dusekkar actually ended up relieved when he visited the small church. He read over all the “holy” books. There was nothing outrageous in them. He actually spied on them for a good week or so. The rules were very relaxed.

They really were just followers, praying and studying magic in most of their free time. If not doing that, then gardening. Plus they believed all things that could respawn must be treated with the same level of respect. So nothing like that time when a cult dedicated to Builderman tried to kill all abnormals would happen, hopefully.

So when other followings popped up he figured it was fine and ignored them all.

Then, several centuries later he was forsaken and met Two Time.

Part of him wanted to cry, most of him, however, was simply angry. Every word from the cultists mouth was so undoubtably wrong. The belief that you had to work to earn a respawn? As if he had set rules to it! It was a blessing gifted to every creature. Only ever revoked if the creature in question was a threat to the entire universe.

And the “Spawn”? A creature itself? No. Dusekkar made the spawn, spent decades perfecting the magic before weaving it into reality itself. It was only that, a spell. A very powerful spell intwined into the fabric of reality, but still only a spell. No different from inventory.

It was disrespectful, to discredit him like that. As if he didn’t even exist. To entirely ignore everything he did. Not just him, but the others as well. To claim that a nonexistent god had created everything. As if John had never ripped the first experience on accident with a sword. As if David and Eric hadn’t spent countless nights figuring out how to use the new pocket dimension. As if 2x2 hadn’t been the one to create every single thing before even the admins.

There was a certain element of regret of course. If he had paid more attention, if he cared more. Would it be different then? It probably would. Still, he cannot rewind time. He cannot go back and pay more attention. He doesn’t even know if Two-time’s cult even began with any relation to him, or if it was always about the spawn as its own creature.

So he tries to tolerate the misinformation and disrespect. He tries to not scream the truth at Two Time. He tries to stay kind. Tries to not force food down their throat, tries to not sew their mouth shut so they stop praying, tries to not tie them down and explain everything.

Dusekkar wishes he had paid more attention.
