Sunghoon was 13 when he first realised that he liked boys, in the romantic sense.
Sunghoon was 14 the first time he saw that boy and his family move into the house across from him, he thought he was daydreaming or going crazy. Perhaps the latter. “When Sunghoon almost had a heart attack because he thought he saw an angel and was gonna die” is what his 2 best (debatable) friends Jake and Jay called it. There was no way a boy could look that beautiful and be real. But boy was he proven wrong a few hours later.
Sunghoon didn't have anything to do on that weekend as Jake and Jay were out at who knows where, probably up to no good, so he went to the nearby convenience store. He was peacefully snacking on some coffee ice cream and scrolling through his phone, spamming through countless instagram stories and scrolling through stupid takes on twitter (there was no way he was calling it X, what kind of app name even is that!). Ding! The bell at the store’s entrance chimed. And a familiar face appeared, it was the same boy from earlier. He walked around the store and headed towards the freezer area, picked out mint chocolate ice cream (that has to be a mistake. mint choco tastes like toothpaste and is an abomination to society!! is what Sunghoon would say out loud if he was with his friends, but he wasn't so he kept his mouth shut.) and plopped down right next to Sunghoon. There were so many empty seats around and he chose the one next to him?
Also how could a human possibly be this bubbly? Sunghoon didn't even know the boy's name and he was already busy chatting away about what he ate that day for breakfast and lunch. He later learned (while watching the sun set) that the ethereal boy's name was Sunoo. A beautiful name for a beautiful boy indeed.

“Come on Sunghoon, it's been 2 years since we first went to university and you still can't wake up on time??? You have a test later!! ” huffed Sunoo as he was arranging some new decorations in the kitchen. Wasn't he doing that last week too? Whatever makes him happy I guess. “Cut me some slack, yeah? Jake needed some help with his research last night even though he's the one taking the course, not me!!”
Sunghoon swore he heard a I sure wonder why that is before Sunoo left to get ready for his day. Right. Sunoo has different classes now that they are in university. It's been 2 years and he still can't wrap his head around not being with Sunoo the whole day.
As his hyung, Heeseung, would tease, your mind is just wired to be Sunoo, Sunoo Sunoo, there's nothing else in there! And he would be a hypocrite to deny that statement. Why object when it's true?
Ever since that fateful day in that neighbourhood, they've been glued together. When you need to find Sunoo, mark Sunghoon. Is what many people would say during their high school days, including their teachers. Which would be embarrassing for other people, but Sunghoon isn't “other people”. He took that statement with pride, if anything it boosted his already high ego.

Sunghoon was 15 when he realised that the butterflies that fluttered in his stomach wasn't something you felt with just a best friend. Sunoo was 14 when Sunghoon finally confessed his feelings after months of pining after each other.
Jake was the first to know the good news, because well it was Jake. His other half and emotional support throughout his gay panic. Which may have led to Heeseung giving a lecture to Sunghoon on how to treat Sunoo right, the way he deserved to be, because Heeseung would never admit it, but everyone knew that he had a soft spot in his heart for Sunoo. He was the one that encouraged him to try out for the basketball team which led their school to nationals after all.
It was about damn time, god. Was what Jungwon, Sunoo's soulmate (Sunghoon still gets sulky when he hears that title, which he thinks should rightfully be his. But he can never refute Sunoo, so he keeps his silence) said after they announced they were dating to the entire friend group. Jay was considering throwing a whole party because his months of matchmaking (which didn't work by the way, the lovebirds were too dense to notice anybody but each other) finally “bore fruit”. Nobody believed that but they let him have his cake anyway.
Riki was elated at the fact that he would now have two parents (the other being Heeseung and Jake), “Sick! I have 2 couples to freeload off of now, who wouldn't be happy with that?” which was shortly followed by a knock on his head by Jake, who was blushing furiously at the thought of being a couple with Heeseung. (they weren't official back then, everyone was taking bets on when they would finally rip the bandaid. Sunoo bet on before Heeseung graduated, which seemed like a long time. But well, 2 years later he reaped his winnings of 50 dollars and a pack of his favourite gum so, other than the guy that got his cherry popped, who was the real winner? )
Sunghoon never really told his parents about his sexuality, preferring to stay on the low and perhaps in the closet. But when they found out he was dating Sunoo through the grapevine (Jay and Jake), they were beyond proud. “I always knew you had it in ya, treat him right for the rest of your life, alright?” was what his father said while giving a pat to his back.
Sunghoon blushed profusely back then, but he still kept that promise.
Sunghoon and Sunoo (affectionately called sunsun) were always in the top 3 of the list of favourite campus couples after all. The other top 2 being Yeonjun and Soobin (even the gaylords couldn't outgay them, which said a lot), and Ningselle (Ningning, the founder of the university's sorority and Giselle, her girlfriend of who knows how long at this point. They've always been together.)
So all in all it's pretty easy to say, Sunghoon (that one hot kinesiology major) and Sunoo (that cutie in humanities) were always meant to be together, a match made in heaven in fact.
