Work Text:
The sun is scorching hot outside as if it could penetrate your soul to fry it. This does not stop the hardworking laborers instead it fueled them to give their best to earn enough money. However, the same cannot be describe on the near empty lounge of Tingen’s Divination Club.
Only a few enthusiasts and self-proclaimed fortune tellers came in attendance today. A lot of divination rooms are empty. Glacis, one of those ‘self-proclaimed’ fortune tellers, exited the Topaz room in boredom. He had been waiting for a customer for two hours in that room yet no one seek his expertise. He knows that his skills at divination is far inferior from the late Hanass Vincent and that enigmatic true seer, yes, it’s deniably the truth not only to him but to the whole club, Klein Moretti. He shook his head thinking that he’s not that as bad like what he was a year ago. To be frank, after meeting Mr. Moretti, he was inspired to take this hobby of him more seriously.
Glacis went to the reception area where he saw Bogda, a returning customer that initially took Mr. Moretti’s service, chatting with Ms. Angelica the receptionist.
“Ms. Angelica, how long must I wait?! It’s been months but Mr. Moretti hasn’t visited the club! I even took a week-long vacation just to make sure I’m not going to miss the day he’ll arrive.” Bogda complained.
Angelica sigh and all she could do is console this hopeless person in front of her, “I’ve informed you many times that this is only a club. No one among our fortune tellers attend here as if it’s their full-time job. I’m sure that you have already experience this from Mr. Moretti himself but I’d like to remind you his philosophy: ‘Let fate decide our meeting.’ You’ve experienced this first hand in your first consultation.”
“I know.” Bodga shrugs. “It’s just, it’s been more than two months….” He trailed when he saw Glacis walking nearby.
“My friend Bogda! I could sense that you are about to take my services!” Glacis greeted Bogda with a smirked. The two of them became friends after this hopeless man started visiting frequently waiting for Mr. Moretti to come.
“Ha! In your dreams! Your skills are far inferior! I would not like an amateur like yourself to guide my life choices.” Bogda retorted back. He knew that his words are sharp and seemingly belittling Glacis but he knew him for a while now that such words will not offend him.
“Seriously, how many time should I remind you to forget that ‘investment opportunity’ that you are talking about. To this day, I’m still regretting my decision for not following Mr. Moretti’s advise back then. I know that it’s a small amount compared to what others invested, but it’s a shame as I could use that money in other stuffs.”
“That’s what I’m talking about! You’ve received an advice from Mr. Moretti! Why am I so unlucky? Does he don’t want to see me?” Bogda lamented.
“Could it be that…” while staring intensely at Bogda, “Mr. Moretti foresaw your visits and just decided not to come because you’ll just ask an advice on a scam investment.” Glacis told in a mocking tone.
A moment of silence came to the three of them before bursting into laughter.
“Now that you mentioned it, I believe that it might be the case now.” Angelica interjected. “Mr. Bogda, ever since your frequent visits, Mr. Moretti magically haven’t visited because he foresaw this!”
“N-no way! My concerns might not be that bad. Glacis I’m afraid after that declaration of yours, I should leave. I don’t to be banned by Ms. Angelica here for having bad luck and thus repelling their one and only Seer.” Bogda said in a dejecting manner.
“Bogda, I’m only joking. Do not take my words seriously! If you are truly unlucky, the divination club could have closed its doors upon your arrival.” Glacis shrug.
Bogda was about to retort back when a blond man with blue eyes and with distinct aquiline nose entered and went straight to the reception area.
The man before him was Joyce Meyer. Like him, this man also became Mr. Moretti customer after the former guessed, no divined, his arrival in Tingen. However, Mr. Meyer looks like he hasn’t slept in a few days. He decided not to greet him because it seems like the man have more urgent matter to ask for.
“Ms. Angelica, has Mr. Moretti haven’t visited? Or do you have any other fortune teller with enough experience? Of course I’m not asking for someone will skills like Mr. Moretti. He is truly one of a kind…” Mr. Meyer asked with complete worry in his eyes.
“What’s the matter Mr. Meyer? Are you experiencing nightmares again?” Angelica asked in a worried tone.
“I’ll be honest since most of you are my friends. However, I could not tell if this is a nightmare but a few days ago, I dreamed of Mr. Moretti! And ever since then I could not bring myself to sleep thinking that there’s something in that dream that I missed.”
