Chapter Text
A quiet garden. One remaining bloom. She was a firmly planted lilac named Lila. Sturdy branches support her delicate petals.
*THUD*
A young robin fell from the oak tree. Broken wings left it stuck with Lila.
"Why hello little bird! You seem lost, can I help?"
"Tweet! Tweet tweet!"
The baby cried out but Lila could not understand its cries for home. That night, the bitter cold did not help her new friend. As the bird began to shiver and freeze, Lila tried to frantically cover the baby and warm it. Miraculously, it survived the night, although it wouldnt last much longer. As the morning light bathed Lilas Flowers, she looked for the bird. Its frail body, placed to the left of her roots, just out of reach. Rodents came for the corpse shortly after, leaving only the bones as a grim reminder of what could have been. Every night, she wept for the bird, hating herself for not being able to help it. The once quiet garden, now filled with the mocking sound of Robin's above. As short as her time was with the bird, she still missed its company. Now, only the stars were her companions. Over the next three years, a baby bird would occasionally fall down and meet a tragic end. Lawnmower, car, dog. Lila began to ignore the comfort given from the stars. She would never let herself love another being again. Until that fresh bloom...
