Chapter Text
A tired sigh was let out as the figure stepped into the school gates, "Geez what a great day to interact with a bunch of morons.." Just as he thought that it couldn't get any worse than this, an obnoxiously cheerful voice called out from behind.
"Ming-Xiong!! Wait up! " He felt a shiver go down his spine as he seemed to recognize the voice calling out from behind. He tried to calm his nerves down, and he ultimately decided to ignore that person in favour of walking towards the school entrance.
But just as he was a couple steps away from the entrance someone had abruptly embraced him from behind. As he immediately tried to steady himself to avoid both people from falling, the person from behind just started to hug tighter. "Ming-Xiong! Why did you ignore me?! " the cheerful person whined as they refused to let go no matter how much the latter tugged on their arms.
"I wouldn't have ignored you if you were less obnoxious in the morning. Now let go of me! " he huffed out as the person finally decided to let go of him with a small pout on their face.
The person— who was previously being suffocated—is called Ming Yi. and the perpetrator who was responsible for doing such acts, and who is also currently pouting, is named Shi Qingxuan. Shi Qingxuan would always regard them both as 'bestfriends'. Although, Ming Yi doesn't seem to share that same sentiment. As he would regularly refer to them as an 'annoying prick to my side'. Even so, they keep insisting on calling each other that no matter how many times the former pushes them away.
"That's still not a good excuse for ignoring me! " they retorted back as they put their hands on their hips. Ming Yi just simply rolled his eyes and turned away from them, "Well if you don't want to be ignored for much longer then either you shut up and walk quietly or you leave me alone. " He gave a barely noticeable smirk at the hurt expression on their face and it almost made him feel pity towards them.
Keyword: Almost.
He rolled his eyes and started walking away from them whilst silently counting down, " 3.. 2.. 1.. " just as he finished counting down, he heard the footsteps he knew oh so well to the point where he had already memorized them. "Hmph! Well either way I'm going to stay by your side whether you like it or not and there's nothing you can do about it! " Shi Qingxuan huffed out in an exaggerated manner as they ran to his side.
Ming Yi simply sighed at their over the top performance as they both went inside the school and towards their classroom.
The moment he opened the door and stepped into their classroom, he heard a voice that was just as obnoxious to him as the person standing behind him, "Well hey there 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙞! Haven't seen you in a while huh? What have you been up to?" a young man with long dark hair and a looming eye patch on his right eye sneered as he looked at Ming Yi with a sly smirk on his face.
"Not exactly the time 𝙃𝙪𝙖 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙜. We'll talk later. " Ming Yi huffed out as he gave him a harsh glare to which, the latter had returned back with the same level of intensity. After a couple seconds of seeing all the tension, Shi Qingxuan couldn't help it anymore and chimed up, "Okay that's enough now! How about we all just talk it out like calm and matured people, okay? "
Although, it almost seemed like Hua Cheng was deliberately ignoring him as he continued on, "Oh? And here I was being 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 about you after all this time. "
"What are you even talking about?! Just shut up and leave me alone for once!! " Ming Yi snapped back as he stormed away towards his seat with a very tense Shi Qingxuan trailing behind.
Hua Cheng didn't say another word as he watched Ming Yi walk off to his seat, a distant yet knowing look crossed his eyes as glanced at the seat behind him. He then let out a sigh as he walked back to his seat next to his beloved.
For the rest of the class, Ming Yi noticed that it seemed rather quiet today at class as he also saw that a lot of people looked pretty gloomy. Though what surprises him the most is that even Shi Qingxuan was quiet today! And that was already unusual on its own since Shi Qingxuan is often the loudest one in their class.
He was rather curious as to what was going on but decided not to dwell on it further. after all, it'll at least make the day a bit more bearable for him. Just as he thought that, he felt a slight tugging on the back of his head and so he quickly turned around and saw Shi Qingxuan who was innocently smiling at him.
He raised an eyebrow at their behavior before bringing his hand up to where they were previously tugging at and felt something intertwined between the strains of his hair. And soon he then started to untangle whatever was in his hair and quickly brought it in front of him.
"𝘈 white chrysanthemum? " He took a glance back at Shi Qingxuan and saw that they were still looking at him with a huge grin on their face as they kept playing with one of the flowers. And when he looked down at their desk— he found there were a cluster of white chrysanthemums all scattered out on their desk.
Ming Yi simply gave out a long, exasperated sigh as he had thought that Shi Qingxuan must have sneaken those to class as per their usual shenanigans. And so he just focused on the lesson and kept Shi Qingxuan at the back of his mind.

As the bell rang for the final time the day, Ming Yi stood up from his seat and began to pack all his stuff. At the corner of his eye, he saw Shi Qingxuan had already packed all their stuff up and skipped towards his side. " Ming-Xiong! Let's walk home together, okay? " they cheered happily as they tried to hug him again, though at the last second he managed to side-step away from them before they could manage to do so and successfully saved himself from a reenactment of what happened earlier in the morning.
"Whatever, but don't just randomly stop and look at different stores while we walk. Like you 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 do. " Shi Qingxuan then looked at him with an almost pitiful expression as they retorted back, "Hey! It's not my fault they always display such cute and adorable items displayed at the front windows!! " Ming Yi merely rolled his eyes at their pathetic excuse as he turned and headed towards the exit, "Well, you better hope there isn't anything 'cute' on display cause otherwise I'm not gonna stop and wait for you when you inevitably gush over them. "
"You meanie!! " Shi Qingxuan exclaimed with a hint of playfulness to their tone, but they ultimately ran to his side and they both started to walk out of the school together.
As they began to walk home together, Shi Qingxuan started to ramble about all kinds of topics and constantly asked Ming Yi's opinions about all kinds of things. though he would more often than not just nod his head or hum in response to what they said and rarely ever spoke back unless they pestered him enough.
After a couple minutes of walking they had finally made it to where Ming Yi was living at and he immediately went and unlocked the front door, "Okay you can leave me alone now. You already got the whole day of annoying me so just leave me be-" He then turned to face them and before he could process what was happening Shi Qingxuan had already hugged him and burried their face into his neck.
"Yeah.. see you tomorrow. " Shi Qingxuan mumbled softly into his neck and he felt an inexplicable chill run down his spine. Weird, spring had just started and yet he kept having cold chills run down his spine... Oh well, it's probably just the wind.
"Yeah yeah now get off of me! " Ming Yi grumbled annoyed whilst pushing them off him. Shi Qingxuan just giggled looked at him with a smile on their face. " Okay finee, but I'll be sure to come back and annoy you tomorrow!! " they cheered happily as they turned and started to walk away.
Ming Yi watched as their figure walked away towards the sunset and into the far distance. He stood there for what felt like an eternity before he snapped out of his daze and finally went inside the building.
