Chapter Text
Rain, how long has it been since Gingerbrave has sat back and just enjoyed the rain? Had he ever even enjoyed the rain?
He wasn’t sure but the sounds of the water droplets against the ground made his head a little clearer, his face being a bit wet from his crying earlier and all he could do now was look at the cloudy sky: He was lost, VERY lost which did make him glance around nervously among the fog
He shifted and shifted a bit, finding discomfort in his sitting state because he didn’t know where to place his candy cane and how to tug his legs in so that none of the rain touched his fur
He curled up as much as he could and tried to maybe take a nap to pass the time….
Just as he was about to doze off though, he heard faint squishing of feet against the wet dirt of the ground below, he dismissed it as a cake wolf passing by or a lizard trying to scurry away from the rain at first
But the footsteps came closer…And closer until they stopped infront of him. Gingerbrave didn’t dare open his eyes, not yet, as he felt his fur stand on its ends but he didnt dare move. The figure he couldn’t see seemed to stand completely still with an almost predatory silence before it heavily settled down next to him, sitting with a thud that almost made the small cookie’s body shake involuntarily.
A prolonged silence seemed to stretch between the two before a voice spoke up…A voice Gingerbrave could only still hear in his nightmares ”You do realise that I can tell you are awake?”
The small cookie was frozen for what felt like hours before he slowly sat up, opened his eyes and fearfully gazed up: The sight that greeted him almost made his heart stop…Longan Dragon cookie, right then and there, sitting next to him and yet they weren’t threatening..They weren’t preparing to kill him no, they were torn as if they had dragged themselves from the bottom of the sea just to get on land: their long white rope had streaks of green and black on it, leaving only some of it that was wrapped around their shoulders and neck to be somewhat white yet it looked a bit more grey, their own normally grey skin and slight scales seemed oddly pale, the only part of their golden armour that surrounded their frame was their shoulder blades and chest plate but the metal seemed almost rotten in colour, their hair was let down - pooling around them and their horn..A prominent feature they had was obviously torn off (From their previous battle the two had) and seemed to be leaking something black..Oddly the wound on their head seemed fresh “So, we meet again…” The dragon grumbled out, their voice not as booming as last time, more so tired and..Conversational
Gingerbrave struggled to get up as he picked up his candy cane and shakily pointed it at them “Wha..? How..?” He was gonna ask but the Ivory dragon held one finger up, silencing him
“I’m just as surprised as you are, weak one” Longan’s eyes focused on his small frame, they seemed to sort of maintain the same intimidating gaze they once had “When you defeated me and I fell into the ocean..I was..Dare I admit, insane” they once more placed their claw back in their lap “I was certain that my demise was here and I was ready, at all costs, to continue my presence through my child..Dragon Eye cookie” They leaned back as Gingerbrave still held his candy cane aimed at them and he hesitantly approached as if confirmed they weren’t a threat at the moment “…And?” He asked, almost as if he was testing to see if they were gonna attack him or not
“And..with immortality, I started to drown” The Dragon calmly continued “it took me a while to notice I wasn’t sealed away or to realise I had no magic put on me..My demise never came” They hummed and took a moment to rub their chin weakly “First I was numb to the feeling..And then the pain in my chest grew and grew until I dragged my almost paralysed body out of the sea onto the shore of the main isle instead of one of the Tropical Soda Islands”
Gingerbrave let out a small wince, almost as if his sympathetic nature was coming in and yet the other part of him, the one that still remembers their almost near annihilation of Earthbread, didn’t ease his tension “…That sounds painful”
“You’d be correct” Longan tilted their head side to side to crack it, a seemingly unusual for them, at least from the little Gingerbrave knew about them
Silence stretched between them once more, this time the two were staring each other right in the eyes for what seems like a few hours (It was 20 minutes)
Gingerbrave’s legs were slightly shaking from standing up for so long without moving before the Ivory dragon let out a sound that was something between a growl and a scoff “Sit yourself down, you look pathetic with your shaking…Like a fawn about to fall over” Gingerbrave almost immediately obeyed and sat down, cross legged with an awkward expression as he felt some of the rain against his back
”Not like that” The Dragon’s tone got cold/annoyed and, shockingly, picked up Gingerbrave and place him next to them, not close enough but just enough so the rain didn’t cover both of them: their claws felt cold and gross but the little cookie didn’t comment on it out of fear “There” They grumbled and leaned back before closing their eyes
Gingerbrave placed his candy cane to his left (Because Longan was sitting on his right-) before putting his paws on the ground and sat there as he shook off a bit of the water from his fur
The two sat silent for a long while and yet the cookie’s mind swirled with questions: well Longan answered the majority of them but somehow he didn’t feel like he got the full story and so he just stared up at them in disbelief and wonder
The dragon only opened their one eye for a moment to look down at the cookie and when they saw that gaze, they almost wanted to go back to their original plan of crumbling this weak one…And yet something seemed to stop them, a tug at their chest so they closed their eye again..It was gonna be a longgg wait for this rain to stop with the brewing questions Gingerbrave wanted to say
