Volt, Eddie, and Mac.✦ ݁˖

The relationship came completely out of nowhere. Kind of like a semi truck unable to break.

In hindsight, Volt and Eddie barely knew Mac before that fateful night. That was most likely due to the Computer never going to the breaker box, well until now.

It was a regular night as any in the electrifying bar. Johnny Splash was on stage singing very out of tune, but the regular patrons had gotten used to this occurrence. Eddie was working the bar, wiping the counters down and serving drinks. He chuckled and rolled his eyes at the sight of Volt dancing with the regulars or working the crowd as always. And then Eddie noticed an unfamiliar face.

They were sitting off to the side looking conflicted with themselves. They stood out because they were covered in RGB lights and electronic accessories. Eddie racked his brain. ‘Ah that’s right…The computer.’ Mac, he finally remembered their name. The human had mentioned them before but Eddie can’t recall ever actually meeting the bespectacled nerd. “Hey! You!” Mac jolted in their wheelchair, looking up at Eddie.

Their eyes were emerald green and impossibly beautiful. Eddie waved them over and Mac hesitantly rolled over. They stepped out of their wheelchair and onto a stool at the bar. They bore an expression of nervousness and curiosity. “You wished to articulate something to me?” Eddie chuckled. The human did mention their rather “robotic” vocabulary. But their enthusiastic voice made up for it. “I wanted you to articulate a drink order.”

Mac flushed slightly and shrugged. “I’m not really sure…” Eddie nodded. Not everyone was a drinker. “Not a fan of alcohol?” Mac nodded, thinking back on previous experiences. “I’m not exactly the most glamorous drunk you could say…” Eddie chuckled softly, he’d seen a lot of different drunken states. Almost none were glamorous.

“Well then what brings you here anyway? You’ve been sitting in the corner like a serial killer all night.” Mac seemed impossibly embarrassed from being called out on their behavior. “The human spoke very highly of this place so I was simply curious…” Eddie nodded in understanding. “Okay then…I could make you something non-alcoholic then?” Mac smiled oh so sweetly. Eddie was starting to understand why the human liked them so much. “That would be excellent!” Eddie asked some basic questions on Mac’s preferences, favorite fruits or flavors.

He ended up making this sour concoction that consisted of green lemonade, coconut water, and fruit punch. He also put some sour candy on the top. If he had to give it a name, probably Toxic Waste. He watched as Mac took a sip and sighed happily, slurping it up with fervor. He couldn’t help but laugh. “Glad you like it…” Mac smiled happily. “It’s amazing!!” Eddie continued watching them out of the corner of his eye the whole night.

Volt noticed and slipped away from the patrons to help Eddie at the bar. “Looks like you’ve set your sights on someone…” Eddie rolled his eyes and Volt chuckled. “Come on, I'm only joking! Are they as cute as Live Wire insists?~” Eddie turned slightly red and sighed. “Their…Cute, sure.” Volt hummed in thought, before going to decide himself.

Volt approached Mac, taking a seat beside them. “Hello! Wonderful to meet you, Mac isn’t it? Live Wire speaks very highly of you…” Mac looked up from their drink, looking a bit surprised that Volt had approached them. “Oh! A pleasure to meet your acquaintance as well! I was unaware the human told you about me…” Volt smirked, resting his hand a few inches from theirs. “Why yes! They described you as quite the character!” Mac smiled, sipping their drink.

“That’s great to hear! I was honestly skeptical about coming here tonight, but the human talked about it with such enthusiasm so…” Volt chuckled, toying with Mac’s straw. “It’s never a dull moment here I suppose!” Eddie watched from the bar as Volt charmed his way into a conversation with Mac.

Eddie had to agree with the human, although he’d never say such things out loud, Mac was fucking adorable. He was honestly surprised they’d never met until now. Eddie and Volt had basically met every electronic device in the house. Literally all of them. Phoenicia, Telly, Lux, Connie, the list went on. But never Mac.

Eddie presumed it was because Mac had just never come to the Breaker Box, despite its popularity.

And now, deep in his heart, he really hoped they’d come more often ❤️
