"Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten." - David Ogden Stiers

Robin was bored, Bruce was boring, and Barbara was at home doing homework so that he couldn't bother her.

He huffs. He was sitting on the roof's edge, near the Batmobile. He sits there pouting before he perks up at hearing a noise in the alley, where the Batmobile was.

He peeks over the edge, curious. He sees a rumpled kid in a faded red hoodie and ripped jeans that look to be ripped from scraping knees and getting the fabric caught on something. The kid had their hood up, so they couldn't see the kid's face. The kid was doing something with the tires of the Batmobile.

He hums and pulls out his grappling hook and shoots it at the building on the other side of the alley so that he can gradually make his way down.

Robin does this as quietly as he can, and when his feet touch the ground, he just watches the kid for a second before clearing his throat and saying. "Hey wha—"

Before Robin can say more. The kid throws the tire iron at him. Robin narrowly dodges it, not looking back at the tire iron that was just now hitting the ground with a clang.

Robin puts both of his hands up in a placating manner. "Hey, whoa, I'm not going to hurt you, kid."

The kid in question looks offended and says in a voice that clearly sounds like a kid trying to sound tough, "Not a kid, you traffic light wannabe."

Robin stares at him for a second before crossing his arms. "That was rude."

The kid scoffs and says, not impressed, "Wah wah wah, cry about it, birdbrain."

Robin rolls his eyes, ignoring the jab, and looks to the Batmobile, which has one tire already off its axle, then to the kid with a raised eyebrow. "Sooo, want to tell me what you're doing?"

The kid crosses his arms and looks down, kicking a stray pebble on the ground. As they do this, they mumble something.

Robin tilts his head, not catching it. "What was that?"

The kid sighs long and annoyedly. The kid looks up to the sky like a teen annoyed with the world. Then looks to Robin and says. "What do you think, boy wonder?"

Robin shrugs, "I think you're stealing the tires for some reason... but what is the reason? Hmm."

The kid rolls his eyes. "The bat wouldn't miss any of his tires. The bat must have a lot of them."

Robin hums; that didn't answer his question, but he will let it slide. "Oh, why do you say that?"

The kid scoffs, "The man has a car that looks like it would cost billions."

Robin thinks for a moment before saying, "Rich asshole?"

Kid loosens a little and smiles like that's what he was thinking. "Yeah, like he is some rich asshole." The kid really looks at Robin like he's seeing him in a new light. "You’re weird," the kid says like it was a fact.

Robin hums, "Yeah, I get that a lot." He shrugs.

The kid's stomach growls in hunger. The kid blushes, and Robin smiles a little. "Want to get something to eat?"

The kid looks at Robin with a hint of want before its apprehension. "Maybe..."

Robin smiles wider. "Well, if you want to come and eat with me, you've got to put the tire back." He puts his hands on his hips for emphasis.

The kid looks like he was debating his options before sighing and mumbling. "Fine..."

Robin's smile softens, and he grabs the tire iron and hands it to the kid. The kid nods a little in thanks and starts working on getting the tire back on.

Notes:

I'm doing a fic about Fem!Bruce Wayne and the JL finding out who Batman is. Batman is presented as male or people assume Batman is male. So stay tuned for that fic... it also might have some Jason getting captured by the JL at some point 👀... that's all I will be saying hehe.
I will link it to the next chapter notes.
