Work Text:
Setting:
- Early 2000's Hartford Connecticut
- Junior year of Chilton, Season 2 of Gilmore Girls. Rory and Dean have gotten back together, Lorelai called off the engagement with Max, and the POV is realistic where Rory is unbearably annoying
-Tristan has gotten over Rory, and for the sake of plot, he never got sent to military school. He is obviously the classic, mean, popular kid. Cocky, entitled, thinks the entire world is made to kiss his ass. Especially after Rory, his smartass-ery reaches new heights.
- Mandy is an OC I've created. This will be almost exclusively written from her POV and therefore can be treated as a reader-insert
Amanda (Mandy) Jean Cohen:
Family:
- Comes from wealthy tech investors
- The oldest daughter of three
- Household is tumultuous, her parents argue often, cold unfeeling greed is paraded as familial love
- Her best friends don’t go to Chilton, though she still has friends in school who aren’t as close
Hobbies/ Interests
- Spends most time in her art studio, but she doesn’t take art classes in school
- Hates school because of the people, even though she’s academically strong
- Loves the beach
- Every time she travels to a new place, she visits the local art museum(s)
- Has the stereo on in her room constantly while she sketches in her sketchbook or hangs out with her friends
- Likes concerts, punk-rock, classic rock, alt-rock, pretty much all things rock and roll
Personal life/ Goals
- She is fairly undecided in what exactly she wants to do for a career, the only concrete pathway she knows is to inherit her parent’s business and fortune
- She has a love for the arts and creativity, though she wants to protect that passion from becoming draining work
- She wants to travel to meet new people who are not preppy rich assholes
- Mandy values authenticity greatly. If she can’t be at least 75% candid around someone, she immediately wants out. She feels suppressed into the perfect eldest daughter at home, so she will never pretend to be someone who she is not
Appearance
- She is 5’4, has brown eyes and dark brown/ almost black hair. Though, she dyes it over summer when she wasn’t subject to Chilton’s dress code
- She often wears her hair in a messy bun + claw clip, or down and straight
- Her everyday makeup routine was just mascara and lipgloss
- She often had her nails done, medium-length almond acrylics.
- She almost never wears her Chilton uniform jacket, tie, or knee-high socks. Half the time, her button up shirt isn’t tucked in, the top button is left undone, and her skirt is almost always higher than ¾ of an inch above the knee.
- Outside of school, she wears baggy, wide-leg, jeans or denim shorts. Band tee shirts were her go-tos, sometimes she mixed it up with tank tops or a halter top.
