Work Text:
As they sat on the floor of the practice room, waiting for ⅗ of their band to return so they could start filming, Keiten had to ask a question that’s been buzzing around his brain for the past several months.
“Don’t you think that Youngjun is a bit overbearing at times?”
Hagiwa blinked once, twice at Keiten, before tilting his head innocently. “It’s normal, isn’t it?”
And Keiten had to restrict every fiber in his being from saying “dude, have you not seen how I’m literally shoved away so he can hug you every time I stand in his way?” because then Hagiwa would be asking him for evidence and that wouldn’t end well. (They’d basically be doing a marathon watching all of the Youtube content on the official hrtz.wav account. Even if he was trying to prove a point that Youngjun may or may not have an obsession with Hagiwa, Keiten would really rather not watch himself third-wheel for x amount of hours when he’s already forced to experience it 24/7 back at their dorm.) Upon realizing that Hagiwa was patiently waiting for his answer still, Keiten cleared his throat to try to focus on the topic at hand again.
“Maybe you’re used to it, but to an outsider it looks…” Keiten paused, trying to find the right term without trying to offset an entire in-depth discussion of what healthy jealousy should look like. “Possessive, I think.”
“Really?”
As if on cue, Youngjun appeared wrapped his arms around Hagiwa’s shoulders from behind, innocently asking, “who’s possessive?”
Well, innocently to Hagiwa, who immediately brightened up upon seeing his beloved boyfriend, and suspiciously to Keiten, who was starting to sweat from the silent daggers that Youngjun stared into him.
“Younjun!” Hagiwa mispronounced as usual, leaning back into Youngjun’s embrace with a bright smile. “Where were you?”
Boy, did that work like medicine for the pianist though. Any silent warnings Youngjun was sending his way through that flare stare immediately stopped as his gaze softened towards Hagiwa and oh God, Keiten was third-wheeling again because Youngjun proceeded to lean down and rub his cheek against Hagiwa’s affectionately, making the latter laugh. The staff was laughing about how the two were like cats coddling each other for affection and Keiten wished he wasn’t this self-aware since the stray warning glares Youngjun sent his way as he basically dug his fingers into Hagiwa’s hoodie was very much so not needed.
“Meeting with the cameraman.”
“Oh, reviewing the photos?”
“Mhm. Hagiwa looked very cute in all of them.”
“Of course! Hagiwa is the most handsome member after all!”
Cute and innocent conversation without context— a concerning and one-sided conversation with context. (Keiten saw Youngjun’s phone gallery by accident once and the amount of candid photos of Hagiwa he had on his phone was to the point that it didn’t look like a boyfriend’s camera roll and more like a stalker’s camera roll.)
Riaan opened the door and called out to Hagiwa then, beckoning for Hagiwa to come over due to their manager calling for him. Without paying much mind, Hagiwa gently pushed Youngjun away and got up to follow after their leader, leaving Youngjun with Keiten.
Now Keiten didn’t mind spending one-on-one time with the pianist because without Hagiwa thrown into the mix, Youngjun was just his awkward, introverted-self, so Keiten could take a breath of relief when the tense atmosphere dissipated as Youngjun settled into properly sitting on the floor with him. Just then, Youngjun’s phone slipped out of his pocket and fell to the ground next to Keiten, letting Keiten catch a glimpse of what Youngjun had been looking at before joining them:

The phone was snatched from his sight and Keiten, once again, was sweating and could feel that dark gaze fix onto him, the atmosphere turning frigid in the blink of an eye.
“Did you see?” Youngjun’s tone was low and quiet, but the unspoken threat was loud and clear as Keiten felt terrified to his very core.
“Uh– y-your lockscreen of Hagiwa is sup-per cute!” Keiten honestly surprised himself by being able to bullshit a lie like that when Youngjun was triggering his fight-or-flight instinct like this.
There’s a moment of killer silence before Youngjun’s expression lightens up to a semi-familiar soft smile, as he shows off his lockscreen of a sleeping Hagiwa. “Isn’t he?”
“Y-Yeah…”
That soft smile morphed just slightly as that dark gaze fixed onto him again. Youngjun possessively held the photo close to him, borderline smirking, “My Hagiwa is so perfect, isn’t he? He’s so precious that I wish he’d never leave my side.”
Keiten did not know how to respond to that. All he knew was that although he may technically be an adult now, he desperately needed an adult now to help him from this situation.
