Notes:

This is all the lore and worldbuilding for Everia!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Lightwings

Appearance: Scales shift color in light, can make scales glow, large and soft frills, no spikes or horns, smaller wings.
Abilities: Glowing scales, fire breath.

Queen: Queen Luminous of the spellwings is incredibly curious and kind, and frequently interacts with her subjects at festivals.

Naming Conventions: forms of light, colors, good things, some gemstones (Examples: Luminous, Prism, Crystal, Kindness, Quartz, Sunray, Moonbeam, Glow, ect)

Society and Social Conventions: Lightwing society is based around peace, art, and helping others.

Architecture: Lightwing houses typically have glass roofs, incorporate circular shapes, and are well lit.

Arts and skills: Lightwings center their society around art, especially painting, glassblowing, woodcarving, and fabric work.

Geography: The Light Kingdom is mostly grassy plains, with some small redleaf forests.

Food: Many Lightwings are vegetarians, although not all. The majority of them also love sweet things, so desserts are basically worshipped.

Environment (Flora, Fauna, ect): The Light Kingdom is home to many bioluminescent beings, from fireflies and other common bugs, to the blue Brightferns, to the fiery Redleaf trees, to the elusive phoenixes, to glowing fish in their waters. This is believed to be a result of Glowstone, a common rock that glows a bright teal color.

Accessories: Lightwings typically prefer items which are woven, wooden, or both. (Examples: Scarves, capes, charm bracelets, ect.)

Interactions with other tribes: Lightwings are Everia’s diplomats, artists, and healers. They excel at keeping meetings calm, expressing what needs to be said, and helping others communicate.

Combat: Lightwings are peaceful, however if combat was forced, their scales would provide an excellent way to distract enemies and leave room for a blast of fire.

Events and holidays: The Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice are some of the most celebrated events for Lightwings, and the rare hatching of a phoenix always brings festivities.

Monuments, landmarks, and significant locations: The palace and rivers.

Stormwings

Appearance: Blue and black scales, four wings, males have yellow patterns while females have purple patterns, fins on tails.

Abilities: Fast and agile flight, some known as Windwhisperers can control the weather.

Queen: Queen Hurricane is incredibly confident and clever. She allows her subjects to speak against her and makes changes based on their feedback, allowing for improvement.

Naming conventions: Weather, birds, colors, and electricity. (Examples: Topaz, Cloud, Gust, Whirlwind, Falcon, Eagle, Thunder, ect.)

Society: Stormwings build their life around freedom and choice.

Architecture: Most Stormwings do not have permanent homes and are nomadic, living in tents wherever they want. The palace is the one exception, being built atop the highest plateau and being made of topaz and copper.

Arts and skills: Stormwings use leather a lot, and learn to work with it. They also learn performing arts such as music, acting, and storytelling.

Geography: The Storm Kingdom consists of huge cliffs, high plateaus, deep canyons and valleys, and rolling hills, which when combined with waterfalls and rivers make it a beautiful mismash of heights.

Food: Stormwings mostly eat meat, really of any prey they can catch.

Environment: The Storm Kingdom has weather too chaotic for most plants, so the only surviving things are the dragons, grass, some birds, and a few herbivores resilient enough to survive off nothing but the dry, tough grass.

Accessories: Stormwings mostly wear practical things, like storage pouches, or a bracelet that includes a compass.

Interactions with other tribes: Stormwings don’t care about tribal associations, and are the messengers and merchants of Everia.

Combat: Again, Everia is peaceful, however when needed Stormwings take an evasive approach to combat, dodging attacks then responding with quick strikes, or a bolt of lightning if they happen to be a Windwhisperer.

Events and Holidays: The Gathering, an event where all Stormwings come together to compete in different competitions such as sports matches, card games, and music battles.

Monuments, Landmarks, and Significant Locations: The palace, the Gathering arena, Talon lake, and the rivers.

Stoneclaws

Appearance: Grey, black, white, and brown scales which look like rock, spiked tail, large claws, wingless.

Abilities: Fire breath, entirely fireproof, strong grip, great climbers, armor-like scales, can eat rocks.

Queen: Queen Mountain is firm and just. She can seem intimidating, cold, and uncaring, but she’s really just a giant armored teddy bear with a soft spot for children.

Naming Conventions: Rocks and geological formations. (Examples: Granite, Geode, Cave, Stalagmite, Cliff, Diorite, ect.)

Society: Stoneclaws are dragons of order, community, and hard work. (The order part is ironic because they have no sleep schedules.)

Architecture: Stonewings are the greatest architects of the dragon world, their buildings seeming to be a fusion between the styles of greeks and vikings. Due to their winglessness, they must incorporate guardrails, and the other tribes have added them too.

Arts and Skills: Stonewings are also great crafters. They specialize in stonecarving, metalworking, jeweling, and inventing.

Geography/Geology: The Stone Kingdom is the largest of all the kingdoms, spanning every cave below Everia, and multiple distinct environments. (If you want an idea, check out the minecraft lush caves, the hidden world from httyd 3, and area zero from pokemon sv.)

Food: Stoneclaws actually eat rocks as mentioned in the abilities section. Gems are considered desserts.

Accessories: Stoneclaws will grow plants on themselves.

Interactions with other tribes: Stoneclaws gladly share their creations with others, and the underground hot springs are a popular vacation spot for most tribes. (The Stoneclaws consider the hot springs weak, and instead swim and bathe in lava.)

Combat: Stoneclaws never win when aboveground, as their opponents can fly, but when underground they can use their tunneling abilities to jump opponents with their fire, claws, and tail spikes.

Events and Holidays: Stonewings have horrible senses of time since they spend their lives without day/night cycles.

Monuments, Landmarks, and Significant Locations: The palace, each different biome.

Spellwings

Appearance: Purple with black or pink patterns, large frill, four horns.

Abilities: Fire breath, those born under new moons can have telepathy, the ability to see and speak to the dead (known as Spiritspeak), and visions of the past (usually called the Dimensional Scream). Also the first non-Starwing tribe to have animus magic.

Queen: Queen Amethyst is a quiet, intelligent, and reasonable ruler except for matters concerning her adopted daughter when she can be rather impulsive and territorial.

Naming Conventions: Magic, shades of purple, nightwing names. (Examples: Violet, Arcana, Mooneyes, ect.)

Society: Spellwings are the most varied of the tribes, and their society is built rather loosely around living independently and enjoying life.

Sleep Schedule: Spellwings are active during dawn and dusk, and sleep during night and day.

Architecture: Spellwings usually have magically created homes which are bigger on the inside. Outside, their cities resemble something in between the Rainwing treehouses and bridges and the Silkwing webs between the Hives, except made entirely of crystal. Roofs are often flat allowing for gardens, dining areas, or other desired areas. The palace is made of a central tower, four smaller towers, and bridges, is solid amethyst with huge glass windows (City of Tears style), and the inside is like a 3-D maze.

Arts and Skills: Spellwings mostly focus on storytelling and their magic.

Geography: The Spell Kingdom is a narrow, mountainous peninsula covered in pine forests, a bit like the Night Kingdom or Oregon.

Food: Tea and sourdough are the signature dishes of the Spell Kingdom.

Accessories: Spellwings are the only Everians who wear metal and gemstone accessories regularly, and most of their pieces are enchanted.

Interactions with other tribes: Spellwings are mostly peaceful like all Everians, gladly sharing knowledge and magic, however due to recent events surrounding Princess Eclipse they are somewhat hostile towards Phyrrians and Pantalans. In the past, Spellwing hybrids were incredibly important for alliances as they brought animus magic to other tribes.

Combat: If in combat, Spellwings would fight completely reliant on their enchanted items.

Events and Holidays: New and full moon festivals, meteor showers, and the winter solstice are times of celebration for Spellwings.

Monuments, Landmarks, and other important Locations: The Spell Palace, Silver Mountain, Comet Peak, and the library.

Starwings

Appearance: Evolved into the tribes of today, when they lived they had no front legs (Wyvern) and seemed to be made of light itself. (See Ultra Necrozma for reference.)

Abilities: As they were the ancestors of all modern dragons, they had all imaginable powers.

Queen: Unknown

Naming Conventions: Constellations, powers, references. (Examples: Animus, Pinetree, Stella, ect)

The First Dragons: The Starwings were the first dragons to exist, creating modern tribes. Little is known about them, and some say they never existed in the first place. They are worshipped by most Everians.

Shared Shores

The shared shores are a community area shared by all tribes on the northeast part of Everia. It mostly consists of markets and Unity Tower, where the queens meet every week and whenever necessary. The area has been heavily terraformed and is now unrecognizable from what it once was.
