Work Text:
"Knock knock," Lal says, rapping her knuckles on the already open door with a smile.
Wine looks up from the documents spread in front of her, her glasses slightly askew, which she fixes with a precise press against the frame.
Her hair styled neatly over her shoulders, catches Lal's eyes for a moment too long. Images from last night flash unbidden in front of her inner eye. Wine spread out under her, hands tightly clawed into her sheets, cheeks flushed and hair splayed in untidy curls, uncaring about anything but getting Lal's mouth back where she wants it most.
When Lal looks at Wine's face, she can't recognise the woman from last night. The woman who demanded more, desperate and warm, tugging at Lal impatiently and sighing so lovely when she came. The stark contrast leaves Lal with nothing but the cold rejection from this morning.
She swallows the feeling down.
"Can I help you, Khun Lal?" Wine asks, professional, but cold. There's an edge behind it that wasn't there the days before.Lal tries not to let it bother her.
She lifts the warm cup in her hand, proving that she is here with a peace offering. "I brought you some coffee," Lal says quickly when Wine only raises an eyebrow, and sets it down on Wine's desk.
Wine watches the movement, as if the coffee might jump her and then frowns, looking down at the small cup, though she lifts it after a moment and sniffs, as if expecting that Lal had poisoned it instead. She takes a sip of it. "Why?" Wine asks finally.
"Why not?" Lal counters, smiling sheepishly. "I thought after last night you might need it."
Wine's cheeks flush, "Because we are not friends," she counters hotly and drops the coffee into the bin.
