Work Text:
This tree’s weirdly smooth, though, maybe it’s on me for expecting it to pierce through my thick clothes.
We lost… I don’t really know what to think of that. We got the bough, I guess. I’m not in a place to complain.
Weird… My pain is gone, as it should be after Dante brought me back, but my chest… It feels weird.
I can feel my heart beating, that doesn’t happen when I’m relaxed.
Demian… I don’t know how he got there. I’m glad he was there… but how?
Talk about Demian ex machina.
Heh… I should tell that one to the folks when I get the chance.
“Deus ex Machina…” That means God in the Mechanism I think.
That’s like the opposite of what the insurrectionists think. They believe God is in the flesh, and only the flesh… Does that make my family Godless?
Their prosthetics upset me, but that shouldn’t mean they’re beyond saving. Nobody deserves to die because they want their life to be better… Wait– Maybe they do.
I miss them… I hope I’d be able to look them in the eyes even with their prosthetics.
Hm–My legs.
My legs were melted before the fight ended… I probably would’ve needed prosthetics if Dante couldn’t bring me back.
If I had prosthetic legs… Ewwgggg–
I probably wouldn’t even get the choice for it. If Dante couldn’t bring me back for whatever reason I’d simply be fitted with metal limbs while unconscious.
The company… They’re clearly using us to locate the Boughs… What happens when we’re done? Do we get freedom when we’re done? How can we be sure?
This tree is actually starting to pierce my clothes.
I can still feel my heart beating.
I guess I can be happy about that. I can feel. Feelings mean I’m still human. That’s what I want to be… Maybe I am fighting alongside Kromer in a future not too far from this one.
I’m a lot like her in that way… unfortunately.
Hmm… The bus smells really nice.
…
Oh. Kabobs. They kind of remind me of how I skewered Kromer during our fight. The color is akin.
I’m hungry.
I hope there’s some left for me.
