In the city of Pristella, after the witches' cult attack, several people had their names devoured by the Archbishop of Gluttony.
Two of these people were inside a bar: Natsuki Subaru and Liliana Masquerade. They were drowning their recent sorrows in a good old drink. The only problem was that Subaru wasn't old enough to legally drink in Japan, so he was stuck in the water.
The one who was really drowning her sorrows was Liliana. The bard was drunk and in a strange cycle of having strong impulses and motivation to rebuild everything she had lost, and strong urges to give up and cry.
It was something that oscillated between Liliana playing her banjo in a intimidating way with a speech something like: "I won't let this shake me! They'll see what happens when you mess with Liliana Masquerade." Two seconds later, the bard let her head fall onto the table and began to cry and lament: “It’s impossible! It’s just impossible!” Subaru still wasn’t sure if she was drunk or if this was just her normal behavior.
A person sat down next to Natsuki. He turned his head to check who it was and discovered it was just his friend Julius. Subaru returned his attention to his water before processing what he had just seen.
Subaru turned his head back to Julius, his eyes wide. “Julius, why are you in a bar? I expected this from Otto, but not from you!”
The most honorable knight looked at Subaru as if he had grown another head. “Do you remember me?”
