When The Curtain Falls

Notes:

This chapter is a little over exaggerated about Pierrot and his hurt shoulder I’d say so? I forgot about Ticket Taker at the end of this chapter, SRRY TICKET TAKER FANS! Spare me, my moms kinda homeless🙏

But next chapter Harlequin and Pierrot will be interacting more~.

Chapter Text

It was another busy day. Handing out fliers, practicing tricks, setting up for nightfall, and plenty of the puny brained humans. Commotion at the blocked off entrance of the circus grounds had arose. Ticket Taker and Harlequin struggled to keep the crowd of humans calm, so no action of violence had to break out, in order to keep everyone out. This was their last day in the crowded town before moving locations somewhere else. That’s why today was going to be the busiest of days they’ve had in a long time.

Harlequin spoke quiet enough for only Ticket Taker to hear, “ I wonder if the next location will be even busier~” he says with a sarcastic yet frustrated tone. Ticket Taker responds with a face that could say “Seriously” if he wanted to, but now was not the time for words.

The crowd got increasingly bigger and bigger! Harlequin doesn’t prefer huge crowds, but for Ticket Taker he’s very used to the sight of huge crowds around him, most likely because he takes people’s tickets and is always at the entrance of the circus where the crowd usually is.

Inside the circus grounds, where Jester, Doctor, and Pierrot, frantically run around the circus setting everything up Pierrot trips over his own foot from running, and causing him to fall on his bruised up side. Pierrot is assigned to hand out fliers earlier in the day, and is quite often beat up on the street(which is why injuries are very common for him). He would stand up for himself, but it would only bring bad attention to the circus if he were to beat everyone up, and no human, even the softest and most understanding of people wouldn’t bother to hear out the circus freaks themselves, regardless if they were in the right or wrong.

Pierrot struggles to lift himself up with his hurt shoulder, only to be suddenly pulled up by Doctor, standing Pierrot up infront of him eye to eye.
“We’ve talked about this… you need to tell me if you’re hurt. Your injuries won’t heal themselves overnight”. Doctor explains while gently rubbing a finger on Pierrot’s possibly broken shoulder.
The silent giant huffs, looking down at the ground, he signs “After the show” telling doctor he can tend to his injury later that night. Doctor nodded and patted him on the not-broken shoulder before slowly jogging towards his assigned tent.

Hours have passed, Harlequin and Ticket Taker were on the verge of madness with the crowd of impatient people, trying to hold them back. Jester sent Doctor, and Pierrot to help tame the herd of annoying gnats, before officially opening the gates.
Only a few preparations needed to be dealt with until finally releasing the four from the hellhole of people.
Jester finally signaled to them to open the gates. Ticket Taker sprinted back and opened the entrance to the finally open circus. The crowd poured in quickly, causing the three that were left behind to quickly get stuck in the crowd.
“This’ll be so much fun Sir gimp-a-lot~” Harlequin teases Pierrot while poking at the silent one’s face. A look of exhaustion loomed over Pierrot’s face, not ready to face the horrors of an oh so filled night with no breaks whatsoever.

The performers made their way back to their respected personal tents. They had a long night ahead of them. It’s only been ten minutes, and Pierrot was already waiting for it all to end. He placed a hand on his hurt shoulder he landed on earlier.

It throbbed.

The pain in his shoulder caused him to let out a painful groan, before he knew it, his shoulder started to bleed out. A silent tear ran down his cheek.
“Why.. does it hurt so much-” he whispered in pain and frustration with himself while his shoulder ached worse than earlier that day.

Jester peeked through the curtain of Pierrot’s tent, squinting just a little to make sure he was decent. The silent one shot up quickly, silently wincing in pain from moving his shoulder even a little. Jester walked over to him, inviting himself in. Jester’s eyes narrowed, looking closely at Pierrot’s shoulder, the stench of blood alerted Jester and he immediately leaned back, placing a finger on his own lips. Usually it’d be an iffy decision on whether one of the performers could excuse themselves from performing one night, but Jester examined the silent giants injury and decided quickly. “Stay in here. The chances of further injury are high out there, for now sit tight and Doctor will be here soon” The purple grape exclaimed before leaving the room with a slight strut.
While Pierrot sat in his tent somewhat relieved, Jester gave Doctor an extra hour for his act. Though it wouldn’t do much harm, no one hardly ever goes into his domain of the circus anyway.

Finally, the end of the night was near, and the performers were exhausted. Unfortunately Pierrot was asked to help with a fight that broke out between a couple, the circus members (Minus Harley) wouldn’t have asked for his help, though Pierrot was good at lots of things, resolving fights through kind hearted words was his specialty. Since the members didn’t want to start a ruckus they wanted it dealt with calmly, which didn’t last very long. While the silent one tried to help the situation, it only got worse, drawing attention from people walking around them, causing the couples to get more heated, now taking the anger towards eachother out on Pierrot.

*BAM*

A fist flew straight at Pierrot’s hurt shoulder, making a cracking sound due to the damage that’s already been done to the injury.
Pierrot lashed out in pain, roaring at the man that punched him. Just that caught the attention of ALL the circus members, forcing them to run from their places and step in. Pierrot black eyes sharpened at the lesser man, while his golden pupils turned to tiny dots, showing a clear sign of pure anger. He grabbed the man by the collar of his shirt, and was about to murder the dude, until Pierrot felt a cold pinch in his back, making him stumble and fall into Doctors arms that shot him with a sedative.
Jester and Ticket Taker discussed the matter with what was a happy crowd, now a crowd full of questions.

The circus has now closed, everyone has left, and the chaos is finally over. Pierrot’s now asleep drowsy body lays on a hospital bed in the light of Doctor’s tent. Jester and Doctor stand above Pierrot’s asleep body. As Jester is now lost in thought, Doctor undoes Pierrot’s shirt, revealing a gruesome scene before them. Harlequin and his perfect timing steps in uninvited, “ Me and Ticket Taker fini-” before he could finish his sentence, he pauses and stares at the bloodied monster in the distance of the tent. He runs forward unaware of his concerned expression, now looming over the sleeping beauty’s body.
“I didn’t know you felt concern for your dear nemesis?” a surprised tone slips from the purple grapes lips. Harlequin forces a cough and gets back into his act “Well- I mean who would I be able to piss off so easily? The pitiful dog himself nee-” Jester puts his hand over the yapping green demon, as Doctor pulls out a suspicious little jar with what looked like bright red liquid within the bottle. He announces before pouring the liquid on Pierrot’s shoulder “This might be loud”. Harlequin has a puzzled look on his face, until Doctor pours the liquid onto the broken shoulder causing the sizzling pain from the suspicious liquid to wake Pierrot, making him yell in pain. It took a few hours to try and figure out how to heal Pierrot’s shoulder, which didn’t work. The silent giant now has a wrapped up shoulder and pain meds, his wound was to severe counting the fact he has a broken shoulder now, couldn’t be magically healed by Doctor like all Pierrot’s other injuries he’s had in the past. Pierrot was walked to his tent, considering he was a little loopy from what Doctor gave him. Pierrot sits in the middle of his bed, letting his mind get lost in thought.
