"Mhm...hm?" You let out a small grunt, feeling his arms slowly snake around your waist from behind. You slowly opened your eyes, trying to adjust to the sunlight streaming through the windows. Casting bright, deep golden rectangular glows across the bedroom.
"Hm.. hi honey..'m sorry.. I just missed your voice." Your husband's voice, Satoru Gojo's, murmured sleepily.
It was always like this, despite his usual energetic and
'the strongest'. Maybe he was strong, physically.
But not mentally.
No—not really.
He was just a clingy, soft, desperate boy deep underneath all of that cool act. You didn't mind it, though. You were there, always there for him through the downs and ups. Even after Suguru left. It hit him hard, Like a stab in the gut. You noticed it, you always did. The way his smiles didn't seem to reach his eyes, how he was a lot more quieter, how he distanced himself away from everyone, and taking up more missions than he should. A way to cope and try to push it away. But it never worked, not with you.
You were there, always with him. Staying up late at night, making sure he eats, checking up on him every so often. Enough to make him slowly come back to himself. Well, not fully. But enough for both you and himself, enough to feel brighter again. Rather than staying in the dark where shadows could of swallowed him whole if you didn't make it on time.
You stayed there for a moment, relishing in the feeling of being in your husband's arms. All warm and nice, like a heater, you called him.
You slowly turned around and faced him. His beautiful, bright, sapphire blue eyes stare into you. His snowy white hair falls into his eyes, soft and slightly uneven, making him look more exposed and open this early morning.
You noticed it, again. As your gaze drifts to his forehead.
Strands cling to his forehead, damp and out of place.
Had he got another nightmare? 'Is this why he woke me up all of a sudden?' You thought to yourself. It must be. You remembered when he told you yesterday night that he wouldn't have any missions this week, and how much he wanted to just sleep for the whole day from the lack of sleep he has been getting recently. Shown from his movements, the same, but a small bit sluggish. If you didn't look more closely, you would of never seen.
But now? Looking back at his eyes, you looked into them. As if reading everything he was trying to hide away under that act of his.
He noticed the way you were reading him. He turned his head away slightly in response. You didn't say anything else, didn't need to. You were there already, and he was right there, exposed in front of you. What else to say if you already knew? And so did he?
It was just quiet intimacy now.
Satoru was glad to have you. Always.
"I love you." You murmured quietly.
"I love you more, sweets." He replied, his voice softer than usual.
Another loving morning.
