In a Galaxy Far Far Away

Summary:

A short story about Ezra Bridger while lost in the separate galaxy. Inspired by his line in the Ahsoka series asking Sabine if his plan did work.

Work Text:

Some nights as he dreamed he could see Lothal. The golden fields, shining towers, and clear bright blue skies. He could almost hear them calling his name telling him to come home. Those days the foreign landscape seemed less harsh and the fog less close. He could imagine how the restoration was going, what his friends were doing, settling into normal lives in the new era of peace he helped create.
Other nights his dreams were filled with the smoke clogged skies of ravaged Lothal. Still black and smoldering. No voices called him, not even anguished cries. Just eerie silence over the devastated plains. Those days the fog seemed too close, suffocating and he spent the hours fending off the whispers of dread that said, "What if nobody has come for you because there is nobody left? Your plan must have failed, Lothal fell and you were trapped a galaxy away unable to help,". Yet he would not allow himself to be consumed by these dark thoughts. He threw himself into survival and found friends among the barren rocks, learning their customs, but still he kept looking up to the stars with hope.
