Chapter Text
The camera flickered on. The view was blocked by a dusty maroon sweater that quickly backed up to reveal a tall, lithe man with a finely maintained mustache and bright azure eyes.
"I believe we are good to go!" He grinned to himself, putting his hands on his hips proudly. There were two others on a deep blue couch behind him: a shorter, stockier man dressed in a white tank top, sunglasses, and simple black jeans; and a taller, muscular man with ebony skin and a dark blue bandana over his head. The one in the maroon sweater backed up to sit on the couch.
"About time," the one with the sunglasses smirked. He got a light swat on the head for his impatience, making him chuckle.
"Hello, everyone! I am Elias. These are my partners, John and River," he gestured. "We-"
"Ask us questions."
Elias and River turned to John and his dead expression. He glanced over before doubling back. "What? That's the point of this. We don't really need to… butter up the words."
"We could have had an intro…" Elias hummed to himself, pursing his lips in a slight pout and crossing his arms.
"It's fine, Ells. Johnny didn't mean anything by it, eh?" River piped up, scratching the stubble on his chin. John's slightly remorseful look was replaced by one of annoyance at the nickname. River either didn't notice or ignored it entirely. "Basically, you guys might have questions 'nd we got answers."
"Yup!" Elias piped up. "Ask anything you want! We're open books."
"Don't be weird."
"That too," he nodded in agreement with John. He opened his mouth to speak again but was interrupted by a loud meow that was more akin to a scream. John just groaned and stood up, mood soured.
"I hate that cat…" He muttered as he stalked off toward the source of the yowling. River and Elias couldn't help themselves but chuckle.
"Eh, I gotta start on dinner anyway. Doesn't need to be a long video, does it?" River asked, turning to look at Elias while leaning forward on his knees.
"No, not necessarily. I just wish it was…"
"Don't stress it, Ells. It's a simple video, doesn't need to be big," he patted the others shoulder before grabbing a cane to help him stand up.
Elias stood up and picked up the camera.
"So… yeah. Ask us anything!" he smiled.
The camera clicked off.
