Louise was sitting very bored in class. Today was a lecture by there guidance counselor Philip Frond. She hated these especially when he was going over such well-known magic.
“Soul mate marks are very important. They determined who you are best suited for and what your relationship will be. You all soon will be developing an amorphous blob on your arm. If you are compatible with someone most likely a heart will appear. Now this symbol can be very abstract and should be read by a professional like myself. In fact in some states it’s illegal to marry a person without compatible mark checked by a professional. Any questions?” Said Philip
“What are the other less common marks? Oh and I hear they can comes with special Magic benefits? Can you tell us what they are?” Asked Rudy
“All soulmate marks come with minor benefits like one word messaging between the marked. They are exceedingly rare but the most common of the less common ones Is heart with a star. it allows for more coherent messaging and they can even see through each other‘s eyes on command. I know Louises parents have that one.” Said Philip
Louise ground she hated being called out in class.
“Now by far the least common Is the shared heart. There is 50 known cases in the past 50 years and that’s worldwide. That one you can teleport to each other. See out of each other’s eyes trade bodies. And use each other’s special family magic.” Said Philip
“Now what is everyone family magic? Mine is Photomancy I can create Photos and animate them including in 3-D space.” Said Chloe
Louise rolled her eyes chloe would mention this whenever she could. They didn’t get this magic in till there soulmate marks are developed. And Louise’s family the belcher’s was not all that good. Accurate temperature. Most family magic can easily be replaced with mundane objects like a thermometer or a camera. Good magic was very rare.
“Now ate the end of today everyone’s soulmate Mark will activate. It’s highly unlikely you will find someone in your class or at all. But I will be available to analyze any of them if you think something happened. Now it’s free time good luck.” Said Philip
Rudy came up to Louise.
“Should we test our marks? We don’t have to if you don’t want to.” Asked Rudy
“Let’s” Said Louise they touched there marks together. There was nothing.
“ Friends it is.” Said Louise
“Friends” Said Rudy
They both parted a little forlorn as a pair of eyes follow Louise. Millie Frock watched Louise happy. Millie was happy about this now it was her chance. She pushed past the crowds of people.
“Let’s Touch marks.” Demanded Millie
Louise looks at Millie she was a dangerous and annoying girl. But there was a good chance this could end her obsession. That would be great.
“Ok but I am sure nothings going to happen. ” Said Louise
“I am sure something will happen.” Said millie
“When nothing happens this will be the end of your obsession with me. Is that a deal?” Asked Louise
“Sure, in the unlikely event of that happening.” Said Millie
They touched their marks together and there was a flash. And split between their arms was a hart.
