Work Text:
The air was crisp and fresh, the wind gently blowing and the leaves swaying with it. Team 7 had just come back from one of their missions, and all of their energy had drained from it, hence being the reason why Kakashi had forced upon the team a much needed break.
Sakura's windows had just started letting the sunlight peep through, illuminating her face with a soft golden yellow hue, as she slept soundly in her bed. It had been a while since she had gotten so much sleep, so she intended to stay in bed for as long as she could without really waking up.
Sasuke, on the other hand, had different plans.
He wasn't used to the idea of a break, and with Kakashi threatening him about training too much and how he would take his "training privileges" away, Sasuke was forced to sit all day, doing what normal civilian boys his age would do.
He didn't quite know what he was going to do; he had make a whole list of things he could do to pass the time, but none of them seemed fun and entertaining. He had thought about reading about skills that could come in handy in future missions, but all of the books were in his parents old room, and he did not want to spend the afternoon accidentally crying over little objects that reminded him of his old family.
He had also considered hanging out with Naruto, and maybe the other guys Naruto always seemed to hang out with. However, knowing how loud Naruto would be, he'd doubt he could become "energized" with a day hanging out with him. Plus, he'd likely just annoy the hell out of him with "ramen" this, and "ramen" that.
So, he decided to go meet Sakura and spend the day with her. He really hoped she was free today, and knowing her - she was either with that annoying blonde girl and that purple haired Hyuga that always turned red around Naruto, or, she was just in bed sleeping the day off.
He somewhat hoped she was in bed - he didn't want to see other girls that would talk his ear off, he just wanted to talk with Sakura, maybe eat out with her, hang out in her room, or maybe take her around the village or in his room to hang out - whatever she prefered.
Sasuke was on the tree infront of her window. It was around nine o'clock in the morning, and the sun had already risen, the rays strong and the heat quite strong as well. As Sasuke peered through Sakura's window, he noticed that she was still in bed. At this hour?? He thought. Of course, she could just be tired, she did do most of the work in this mission, but they had also gotten home quite earilier than they had expected, so there's no way she could have been staying up so late just to sleep in.
Sasuke sighed, and slid the window open. He knew to the pedestrians that it would look quite stalker-ish, or perverted, though Sasuke and Sakura always did this, whether it was for news about missions, or simply because they were bored enough to want each others attention but not enough the a whole team bonding session.
Sasuke climbed through the window, making sure that he was as quite as possible. It was eerily quite inside, the only noise being Sakura's breathing and Sasuke's feet as they landed on the floor. Her floor consisted of various fluffy carpets, all in shades of red, white, and pink. Sasuke looked over, taking her desk chair and propping it up to the side of her bed. Sasuke sat down, and looked over at Sakura. She looked so peaceful like that, as if time was never a thing, or, rather, that time preserved her in a way to show that she was it's only favorite being to preserve ever.
Sasuke didn't know how long he spent staring at Sakura, but soon, she started waking up, slightly shifting towards him, stretching. A loud shriek came out of her once she opened her eyes, thinking an intruder had gotten in, and quickly took out a kunai from her pillow, that was barely stopped by Sasuke.
"Oh my god, Sasuke, how long have you been here? Did I forget about a mission? Or did Kakashi ask for me?" Sakura scrambled up, her wrist still being held by Sasuke.
Sasuke, suddenly feeling shy, ducked his head. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out." He mumbled, only now realizing how his intentions could have been percieved.
Sakura, having his words sinking in, had a smile of glee itching away at her mouth.
"Of course we can! Let me just freshen up a bit - I won't take long, I promise!" Sakura said, getting up from bed and leaving the room to her bathroom.
It took a while, and when Sakura finally came out, she was in a simple shirt and shorts, her hair slightly damp. Sasuke did not notice her until she sat infront of him, as he had zoned out looking at her bed.
"Sasuke! What do you want to do today?" Sakura asked, giddy with the idea of spending the day with Sasuke rather than sleeping it away.
Sasuke did not answer, but rather grab her wrist, pulling her down towards him. He trapped her in a hug, inhaling the sweet shampoo's scent in. He could feel Sakura give a confused gasp, then immediatly return the hug.
Sasuke - in short - wanted to do nothing that day. He wanted to stay in Sakura's room, and just be in her presence. He lifted Sakura, settling her on his lap, making sure that she doesn't feel uncomfortable, though Sakura had different plans.
"Sasuke, if you want to just be with me all day," Sakura started, moving her head slightly back so that she could see him, "how about we just sit on the carpet, it would be a lot more comfortable."
Sasuke nodded in response. He honestly didn't care where they were going to sit all day, but since Sakura suggested it, he was more than happy to do so. He let Sakura get up first, then sat down on the ground, leaning against her bed frame. Sakura was about to sit down next to him, but at the last second, Sasuke inched towards her so that she landed on him.
Sakura thought she was going to fall, feeling a sort of imbalance. She gave a soft gasp as she reached out to grab at Sasuke's hand, and stabalize herself. Once she did stabalize herself, she turned around, facing him.
"Sasuke! I almost fell!"
Sasuke wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him.
"Why would I ever let you fall if I am there?" He pecked at her temple.
Sasuke rested his head low on her neck, feeling the warmth of anothers flesh seep through his skin. Sakura wrapped her arms around him, fiddling with his hair, drawing patterns in his scalp. The sensation of her fingers through his hair left Sasuke in shivers, his hands twitching near Sakura's back. He squeezed her shoulder and sighed into her neck, trying to focus on her, but not her.
"Tell me about what's been going on in your life - besides from training." Sasuke tells her. Anything to get his thoughts out of the gutter.
Sakura, noticing his facial language, decides not to question his sudden demand, and pulls him closer, whispering about her day. She knew she had an affect on him, and she quite enjoyed knowing how much of it she had when she could feel him shiver, sigh and blush. It made her feel joyous.
They spent the rest of the day huddled close, whispering and laughing, warm from each others presence.
