Everything had gone black.
One moment they were in Sinister’s castle and the next they were surrounded by darkness. Morph looked around for any sign of an exit but found none. Realization hit them like a truck, Sinister had got them again. “No no no NO LET ME OUT,” they screamed but got nothing in response. Defeated, they curled into a ball and softly cried, praying someone would get Sinister out of their head.
They looked at their hands, they were back in their own body, but were they? What if this is all just another illusion? What if Sinister still has them? Slowly, they brought their knees to their chest and hugged onto their body. Quietly sobbing to themselves hoping that maybe if they closed their eyes tight enough, it would all go away.
They felt a strong hand land on their shoulder, causing them to jolt up. Looking up, they saw Bishop crouching down next to them. “One hell of a fighter Morph, give Wolverine a run for his money” Bishop remarked, though the attempt to cheer them up fell short.
All Morph could think about was how powerless they felt. How hopeless they were. How hopeless they are. Was it really that easy to gain control over them? Just tap them on the head and, poof? Not to mention that they hurt their friends again. The people who have shown them nothing but kindness since the beginning. “It’s only a matter of time until they become fed up with my antics and just let Sinister have me,” Morph thought to themselves.
Standing up, Bishop held his hand out, which Morph slowly took. “Hey, don’t beat yourself up over this ok? You didn’t hurt me, I’m fine,” Bishop told Morph. But Morph could see right through look in his eyes. He had hurt him, he just didn’t want Morph to feel bad about it.
“I’m going back to the jet, I’ll see you then,” Morph responded quietly as they dragged themselves towards where they had parked.

On the ride back from the mission, all Morph could think about was how Sinister had got them again. Not only was he able to take control of them, but he made them see things. Morph got nauseous just thing about it. The steam. The loud, running water. The way illusion Logan looked at them. The things illusion Logan said to them. “As if I don’t know” played on repeat in their mind. It wasn’t true, Morph knew that, but it felt so real. If Logan did know, he would hate them for sure. The thought alone sent shivers down their spine
Before they had time to dwell on it any longer, they landed back at the mansion. Everyone rushed off, surrounding Nathan and yelling over one another, worried for the infants health condition.
Of course Morph was worried too, but they barely had enough strength left in them to make it to their room let alone asses a child’s health condition.
Once in their room, they closed and locked the door. Sighing deeply as they trudged over to their bed flopping down on it with all of the strength left in them. As soon as their head hit the pillow they began to sob. It was so unfair, why did they have to be taken again? Why did they immediately forgive clone Jean, when it took months for the X-Men to trust them again?
“It’s so un-FAIR” they scream-sobbed into their pillow, hoping that would help dull out the noise they were making.
Their mind began to drift to Logan. Their best friend, their everything. The only person who never lost trust in them. The only person who always believed in them. The only person who was there when things got complicated. The only person Morph had ever truly loved.
Morph though about what the illusion had said. How that Logan knew about his feelings. But if he knew how come he hadn’t said anything? Was he scared? Did he not want to make things weird? Morph didn’t know, but he did know that Logan knew, he had to.
A light knock at the door pulled Morph out of their thoughts. “Hey bub, can I come in?” Oh god it was Logan, quite literally the last person they wanted to see right now. They cleared their face of tears and put on the best smile they could muster slouching over to the door to unlock and open it. “Hey Wolvie. Thought you’d be down in the medbay all night, what’r you doing here?” Morph asked tiredness written all over their face. “I came to check on you. Bishop said you had a rough night. It ok if I join ya’?”
The bewilderment on Morphs face must have been evident because Logan chuckled a little. “Yeah sure, If you wanna stay you can,” Morph responded stepping to the side so Logan could enter. Once inside Morph closed and locked the door once again. When Morph turned from the door, they saw Logan laying on one side of the bed, beckoning Morph to lay next to him.
All of this confused Morph even more than they already were. Logan should hate them right now, be pushing Morph away. But instead, he was being affectionate? Morph had never seen Logan ever willingly ask someone to be near him, let alone basically pressed against his body.
Morph cautiously moved to lay next to him, making their body smaller to create a small gap between them. In response Logan wrapped his arm around them and pulled them close to his body anyway.
“Why are you doing this?” Morph asked, genuinely confused by Logan’s odd behavior. Logan sighed a long, heavy sigh like that alone carried all the answers to their question.
“Bishop told me what happened. That…That He got you again.” Morph tensed up,”this was it” they thought,”this is where Logan tells me he can’t deal with my bullshit anymore and leaves.” Morph could feel the tears beginning to well in their eyes. Logan continued, “And I was just so…mad…frustrated that I wasn’t there to help. That instead of protecting you like I promised you I would, I was here putting a cool cloth on Jeans for head that really helped nothing.” Morph snickered a little at that. “What I’m trying to say is… I don’t know, I just… feel like I’ve let you down, in a way.”
Morph didn’t know how to respond. They hadn’t prepared for a conversation like this, they only planned for conversations involving rejection. “It’s not your fault Sinister got me again, it isn’t anyone’s fault but Sinisters,” they said as they sat up and hugged their knees to their chest. “And you definitely didn’t let me down, I can handle myself and sometimes bad things are gonna happen that you won’t be there to help me with.” “That’s the thing though I could have been there, I should have been there, but I wasn’t.” Logan responded now positioning himself up on his elbows.
Morph looked a Logan. They had already memorized every crease on his face, every wild strand of hair that deviated from the rest, the way his eyebrows creased together when he was serious about something. But the way he was looking at them now was different than anything they had ever seen before. He was looking at them almost affectionately? Like if he looked away for even a second he would lose them.
Before Morph could respond, Logan reached out and looped his arms around Morphs back and pulled them into a tight hug. Surprised, Morph took a second to hug back, but once they did, it was the most peaceful they had felt in a long time. Like nothing else in the world mattered anymore. Suddenly, Morph heard quiet sobs escape Logan. They pulled away just enough to be able to look a Logan. He had never seen him cry before, but the sight almost made them start crying along with him.
“God damn it Morph you have no idea how scared I was,” Logan sobbed “ I-I thought I lost you all over again. I-I can’t go through that again.” He gripped on tight to Morphs torso burying his face in Morphs chest. “You have no idea how much you mean to me. You mean the world to me, losing you would be like losing the world.”
Morph hugged him tight, softly shushing him while running their fingers through his hair. They couldn’t stop thinking about everything Logan said though. Was there a chance Logan felt the same way? Did Logan love them as much as they loved him? Morph didn’t know, but decided not to dwell on it as he felt Logan begin to shift.
“Morph I-“ Logan started but couldn’t complete his thought. Morph looked at home expectantly waiting for him to say what was on his mind. “Morph, I…I uh.. I need you. It’s so unfair, sometimes late at night, I’ll imagine my ideal future and every single time I think about it, your there, next to me no matter what. I don’t wanna live in a world where you’re not next to me.”
Morph knew that that was the closest thing to a confession Logan could communicate. “Logan are you…are you saying you…like me? Like romantically? Or is it like a I always want my best friend by me type a thing?
Logan began to chuckle, then he began to laugh uncontrollably which only made Morph more confused than ever. “God Kev, for being the smartest person I know, you have the thickest skull. Logan reached up and grabbed the sides of Morphs face. Morphs heart rate immediately picked up as Logan drew closer to them
“Can I?” He asked just inches from their face. Morph didn’t respond, as they moved their face forward to meet Logan’s. It was soft, just a peck on the lips really, but it was everything Morph had ever wanted. For Logan to want them the way they wanted him. It was the most complete Morph had ever felt in their entire life. As they pulled away, their eyes met Logan’s and they both began to giggle in each others arms. “God Logan I thought you knew I liked you and would hate me for it, all this time you’ve really wanted me?” Morph asked slightly out of breath. “Was I really not that obvious? I thought you knew for sure I was around you like all the time” Logan retaliated.
Morph dragged their eyes to look over at their nightstand, 1:47. “It’s late, we should get some sleep” Morph stated. At this Logan began to get up and walk towards the door. “Where are you going?” Morph asked slightly on edge. “Oh, you want me to stay?” Logan asked, genuinely confused. “Duh I want you to stay, it’s cold in here and you’re basically a living oven.” Morph said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “So you don’t want me to stay because you love me. Got it I’ll remember that.” Logan retaliated, but there was no malice behind his words. “Oh my gosh quit being a baby and get over here” Morph said as they lifted the covers.
Logan quickly crossed the room and cuddled into Morph placing his arms around their back and his head just under Morph’s. “Does this mean we’re boyfriends now?” Morph asked quietly. “Yeah, are you ok with that?” Logan replied. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted” Morph responded.
“Goodnight Logan”
“G’night Kev”
