Work Text:
If Emil had known how the day would’ve ended he would’ve just stayed home. Sitting in this supervised empty room wouldn’t be where he was if he had just stayed home.
Emil could feel the clock's hand tick on how still the classroom was. Just beyond his peripheral vision was a knocked-out-to-dreamworld teacher and an Asian boy slightly taller than himself. The worksheets that were given were beyond completed by now, little doodles of puffins filled the bottom of the white thin papers. All the boy could do was observe the room.. which he has done more than 53 times.
Maybe it should just leave. He didn’t know how detention worked anyway. He completed the work so… it was probably fine. Emil started to shove the sheets into his bag, ignorant about the thought of handing them in (they probably wouldn’t care less), making his way towards the front.
“Hey.” The uncertain tone to the voice definitely made an impact on the quiet room. Right, the kid. The one who let him here in the first place.
Leon, a popular Asian boy in his class, decided today was the day to suddenly chat to him like they were the bestest of friends (They never interacted till this day). He blabbered his mouth so much it led him and dragged Emil into the amazing overtime of detention. Wonderful isn’t it?
The Icelandic surmised this was his way to tease him. He only tolerated him because he never bothered him until today.
Emil sighed with exhaustion, slowly turning to face Leon. He could feel the annoyed frown on his face making the former just more nervous.
“I just wanted to… apologise. I didn’t mean to get you dragged here–”
“Then why did you?” Emil interrupted with a stern tone he didn’t know he could produce. He watched as the Asian boy got out from his seat to approach him, their height meeting up to expectations.
“ I just.. wanted to..be friends?” Leon struggled to string his words. It looked like a failed attempt to make an excuse. Emil scoffs before trying to make a leave. “Wait!” Leon grabs hold of Emil's arm. If Emil could he would’ve snatched it back, but this desperate… thing had a good grip on his sleeves.
“ I mean it! truly! I just didn’t know how to approach you, because you always run out as soon as the bell rings!!” Leon frantically blurted, his thick brows furrowed for the sake of not letting go of the Icelandic’s arm, scared he would just leave with no response. The desperate look on his face was like a puppy pouting at his owner. Emil broke into cold sweat, because it really was working. No wonder he was popular, with his expressions looking so… Adorable? Emil sighs, the Asian boy finally letting go. That would probably leave a red mark soon by how tight he grasped onto it.
“Fine, just don’t pull that again.” Emil had given up. “Let's just get it over with and go," he added.
Leon probably died inside, he was bright red and his eyes were sparkling brighter than the sun. He ran to grab his bag chasing Emil out of the classroom.
“See ya Torris!”
“It’s Mr. Laurinaitis!”
