Work Text:

The air was dry here on the Heights.

A blow of soft wind brought a warm scent of flowers from far, far away. 1x1x1x1 didn't recognize it—he didn't know what flower even was, yet he did like the sweet, faint smell. Along with the aromatic breeze, a slight curve climbed up to 1x’s face. Some birds flew past the burning clouds, leaving petals of feathers falling behind.

This was the twelfth time 1x had seen birds since he was created. He couldn't help but feel a sense of delight growing inside his chest. He knew his creator would soon be back—the birds were a sign.

His dear creator.

As he expected, a silhouette soon appeared up in the sky. 1x felt his eyes ache a bit from the blinding sunlight, yet he still beheld that pair of wings in awe—against the golden rays, Telamon looked like some kind of god, his god.

“Telamon's back.” The speaker landed his feet effortlessly on the ground. A feather flew on 1x's hand weightlessly with the flaps of Telamon’s wings. “Did you perform well while Telaman's not here?" 1x nodded at Telamon’s words, almost eagerly.

“Good boy.” 1x felt a soft hand stroking his hair. His creator then smiled at him—1x loved that smile.

His creator always got a curve on his lips, but the genuine ones were rare, very rare.

Sometimes, they appeared after 1x and Telamon had a fight.

1x1x1x1 would usually lay exhausted on the battleground, as he gazed at the sky in daze, clouds and flying birds seemed afar.

As for his creator, he would still look smug and energetic as always—but 1x never failed to capture the slightest bit of tiredness in his eyes. At this moment, Telamon would lower his head and match 1x’s gaze.

Then he would smile—truthfully and gladly, maybe for the satisfaction after fighting, or the improvement he saw in his creation’s movements.

Sometimes, they appeared in the most normal moments ever—after Telamon got back to the Heights by the end of a so-called day.

1x1x1x1 would sit on the edge of the battlefield, legs swinging, as he eagerly awaited the winged silhouette to appear.

After Telamon returned, they would stay by the battleground and watch the eternal dusk in silence for quite a while.

Then, when 1x took a peep at his creator’s side face, he would see the silhouette carved by sunlight finally show a soft smile on his face.

That masterpiece was way more beautiful than sunset.

And this time was one of those moments that 1x1x1x1 was able to see the masterpiece.

1x felt something in his stomach.

Happiness, ecstasy, euphoria.

In this eternity-like moment, 1x1x1x1 felt these emotions blooming—they’re even more vivid than emptiness. The feeling was lovely, addicting almost.

So he wanted more, he craved for more.

1x1x1x1 often tired himself up, from fighting, from attention seeking, from everything.

But he didn’t care.

Attention, praise, smile, touch. Everything from his creator felt sweet, sweet as saccharine, as drug.

Your love is my drug.

The warmth of Telamon's wings brushed over his creation’s cheeks, as the latter gripped tightly onto the golden feather in his pocket. His nails dipped deeply into his own fist, as blood stained quickly into the divine piece of feather, but 1x1x1x1 smiled.

He could just pick another one later. He had forever of time.
