'I'm sure this weeks mail will come in any time now.. ' Jahoda thought to herself while making Nefer's morning tea 'it's supposed to come today at this time, or did I remember something wrong again? Damn it Jahoda when will you learn!-'
"Jahoda what's taking so long?!" Boss's voice echoed through the Curatorium of Secrets walls
"Uhm!- COMING BOSS" Jahoda yelled back in a hurry, quickly snapping herself back to reality and placing the tea cup next to the arrangements of biscuits Nefer enjoyed,
The sound of her foot steps quickly making their way to their boss
"Here ya go, boss" she placed the tray on the table in front of the couch Nef was sitting on hoping she wouldn't be shooting bullets through her eyes when she enevitably looked at her.
Which she realized shortly after that she could choose the easy way out and avoid the gaze of her wicked boss all together! You're a genius Jahoda!
"Sorry for the wait" she said before letting out a nervous chuckle and turning the other way with her head down as if she had already known what she was going to do next (check for mail).
"Jahoda wait."
The poor girl could already feel the Shiver going down her spine. 'You really screwed up this time, jahoda. You should know boss hates waiting!' She scolded herself subconsciously before turning and facing her boss trying, to hide how scared she actually was
"Yes boss?"
"Take a seat"
Damn it. It felt like every second that passed she questioned why she took this toretureous job in the first place.
'Wait now that I think about it she's probably going to fire me, isn't she? I KNEW I WAS PUSHING MY LUCK FOR KEEPING THIS JOB FOR SO LONG!'
"Why? Whatsup boss?" She said anxiously sitting on the small couch opposite to Nefer
"I've been noticing something these past few weeks." She said taking a sip from her tea cup "every week, on the exact day the mail always comes in, my tea doesn't come out the way it usually does."
"Oh yea, about that boss I'm so, SO SORRY it won't happen again trust me-"
"And you always seem so excited to collect the mail." She said smirking and taking a bite out of a long, pale biscuit. "What I'm trying to say is I've noticed you've been getting some mail lately."
'So she's already noticed I mean I was s fool to think I could haide anything from her after all.'
Jahoda sighed before looking down at the floor in defeat "I'm sorry Nef I really shouldn't have been doing something like this behind your back." The blonde girl played with her fingers a bit "Ill completely stop sending the letters if that's what you want. I promise I'm not planning anything behind your back o-or anything!" She said fanatically waving her hands.
"Oh cmon don't be silly Jahoda I know that's not what you're doing. You wouldn't be giggling and blushing so much while reading your letters if you were, no?" Her leg crossing over the other as she said something she knew would make Jahoda's heart drop to her feet
"Heh. Hahahahah!" Jahoda tried to force a laugh before saying "boss, I have no idea what your talking about!" While Simultaneously feeling her heart bump harder than she'd like to admit and feeling her palms get sweaty.
And right before she started to ramble on about some lame excuse she made up on the spot, Nefer cut her off "look, of course you don't have to tell me your business if you don't want to but curiosity kills the cat sometimes. And im no exception." And ironically Ashru thought it would be the perfect time to lay down right next to Nefer on the couch.
"So I just have one question, is it a boy?"
And in that second she instantly saw an image of Durin come to tourment in her mind. His violet hair, his calmn demeanor and presence despite his massive horns and wings, how soft his voice sounded when he spoke to anyone and especially to her. She would be lying if she said she didn't miss him already.
That extra second that Jahoda had blanked out for was all Nefer needed to know that her guess was right on the bull's eye
"Would you mind me asking who it was?"
Jahoda figured that there was no use in trying to deny it anymore since she has already been figured out. Plus, there was no harm in Boss knowing, right?
"It's someone we both know."
"Really? How much?"
She pondered for a few seconds "not that much, I think? "
"Mhmmm.." She swirled the tea in her tea cup in amusement "someone from Nasha town?"
"No"
"A merchant, maybe? Anyone who travels to Nasha town frequently?"
"No not a merchant, and unfortunately I don't know if he will be coming back to Nodkrai anytime soon. "
"Oh so he's left Nodkrai lately? Anyone who helped us against rerir?"
Jahoda felt her face start to heat up. She was getting closer than Jahode would have expected so quickly. "Maybe."
"So he is" she put the last biscuit from her small plate into her mouth "so they're probably from... Mondstadt?"
If Jahoda's hands were sweating then than they would be considered rivers now "...if I tell you who it is, you have to promise me to give me at least one chance to see him in the near future" her voice sounding desperate in a way Nefer had never heard before. Almost like she was yearning for it.
"..." Nefer thought for a few seconds before sighing and nodding "I guess it would be rather cruel of me to keep two love birds apart. So who is it? "
"....its Durin."
"... Wait, purple hair dragon Durin?? "
"Yes?" Did I say something wrong to boss?
"She Durin who we wouldn't have been able to defeat rerir without???"
"Is there any Durin other than him? " Jahoda tried to joke off nervously
"Hmmm" Nefer grinned and Jahode felt the tension in her chest feel less suffocating "I guess you two would make quite a cute couple."
Never would I have imagined Boss's word's would makeme blush like this.
How about you go check if the mail arrived? I heard that it's coming later than usual because an odd object is coming in one of the letters. Who knows it might be for you~" Nefer teased and Jahode jumped out of her seat before yelling "THANK YOU BOSS" and running out of the room.
