“Grian! Cmon we gotta go!” Scar whined as he pulled on Grian’s sleeve childishly.
The other man just rolled his eyes. “Scar you know Santa isn’t real right..?”
That only made Scar’s voice intensify. “Still!! We gotta go watch for Santa! It's almost 12. We gotta get there before midnight.”
It was a stormy night on Christmas Eve. You could hear the wind blowing, the fireplace crackling and Scar’s shouts.
“The things I do for you…” The unwavered man grumbled.
Scar excitedly dragged Grian in front of the tree where all the presents lay.
“You see?! Santa isn’t real! If he was then the gifts wouldn’t be here.”
“Cmon G, have some Christmas spirit, can’t a guy have his right to believe in Santa?”
The pair sat down in front of the tree. They both had matching ugly Christmas sweaters (from Scar’s request) and Scar had a little Santa hat while Grian had a reindeer headband and a matching nose.
“See? Isn’t this fun and cozy?”
“No,” Grian said blankly and grabbed Scar’s hand. “But I like being with you.”
“Woah Scar, your face is almost as red as my nose!”
“Hey, it's not my fault, Grian!” Scar said while shoving the now laughing man away. “If you don't want me to blush then stop being all lovey-dovey with me.”
“Isn’t that like, I don't know… The point of a relationship?”
“I guess, but it's only okay when I do it.”
“You’re an interesting man Scar…”
“But you like me so it's okay.”
They soon fell into blissful silence as sleep pulled to them. Grian was staring into nothing while daydreaming until he felt something on his shoulder.
“Scar?”
He turned around to see Scar who fell asleep on his shoulder.
Should I wake him up? Grian thought to himself.
He decided not to. After all it was his boyfriend’s favorite holiday and he wanted to let Scar have his wish of ‘staying up’ to see Santa even if he wasn’t real.
“Grian! Grian!” Scar called out amazingly chipper even though he just woke up.
Grian checked his watch. “Scar… Please, it's 6 in the morning, let me sleep.” He was originally on top of Scar somehow but Scar ruined their lovely arrangement. He laid back down on the floor and tried to bring Scar down with him but he refused.
“No, we have to open the presents now!”
“No.”
“Please?”
“I said no Scar.”
Scar shoved his face right in front of Grian’s and tried to put his most cutest saddest pleading face he could make. “Cmon Grian, you couldn’t say no to this face.”
Grian let out a long sigh. “Ugh, you’re right, I can’t. Finee lets go open gifts.”
Scar jumped up. “Yay!”
He aggressively ripped open his presents followed by a gentle hug to Grian because of his thoughtfulness. Grian always got the perfect gifts, even if he barely knew the person he was giving to.
“Alright, we’re done here right?”
“No, actually…” Scar said while getting up, he walked to their bedroom and pulled a gift out of its hiding spot and hid it behind his back. “I, uh, I have something to give to you G…” Although Grian didn’t particularly say anything about it, Scar knew his face was the reddest of reds.
Grian raised an eyebrow but didn’t seem upset. “Thats sweet, what is it?”
Scar shoved his gift towards Grian, forcefully putting it into his hands.
“Scar…” Grian said, tears welling up in his eyes. He hugged Scar firmly and Scar wiped away Grian’s tears. “Scar, I can't believe you got me poppies and lilacs. It brings back memories from when we first met, Thank you!”
Scar pulled away from Grian. “Would you say this is the best Christmas?”
Grian stared into Scar’s eyes, really looked at them. His eyes were just sparkling.
“Best Christmas,” he whispered
