hard work makes the dream work

Summary:

In pursuit of a good nap, a Dust Warrior cleans up their quest book. They just need... one more monster... before they can go sleep...

Prompt: Mental Training

Work Text:

"How good is your mental training?" been one of the questions proposed during orientation.

They went on to explain that the power of the mind is a heavy one indeed. Not all students are capable of cutting down the largest creatures available and indeed should not expect themselves to clear- nay blow over an entire curriculum in the turn of a day just because their fellow students can.

Patience and inspiration are all that one needs in order to take down even the most dangerous of creatures after all.

And the more experienced gained from fighting monsters can always land in a dust warrior's favor.

They yawned at the time and now, unable to use the comforts of caffeine this late into the day. The fairies bob around them all the more curious but no closer to defeating them then they are. Maybe even less. Their head continues to linger on the piece of paper they've been scribbling idle thoughts into and the occasional idea they wanted to pick up later down the line.

But it can be so tiring and the urge to just walk away even more than they cared to admit. The fairies are still going to be there when they get back, right? They are ahead of their studies after all.

The fairies bob up and down again seemingly in encouragement.

However they are just but a few dozen words before the fairies will go away. The dust warrior yawned, pressing their pen back against the paper in search of more inspiration from within. There are those other scraps they discarded over the years they could expand on or even a few new builds for that thing they liked playing with so.

Kumaw trilled ever curious at the head of the pack, the true creature the dust warrior has been testing their mettle against. Sure the professors have discerned a little bit of their knowledge but just enough to help them find the way home or make this place more comfortable for their lot. Nothing to do with curious questions or words outside of need and home.

However there is something charming about watching the aging fairy step into his own- find new hobbies with the other Dust Warriors and sleeping under the same trees as they are.

After a while, the same sleepy energy crawled over the fairy. Together they laid down for a nap.
