My Sweet Girl

Summary:

Robin has a rough day, Nancy is there for cuddles and comfort <3

Work Text:

The noise of the bus on the way home from school was both quieter and louder than normal. Every sound brought Robin one step closer to a complete sensory overload meltdown. It had been a real fucking day. Despite knowing it was a joke, something about the usual teasing from her friend that day gnawed deep, deep inside her, to a point she couldn’t explain. She had never played the sport she was assigned to in PE, and he kept telling her that she was horrible. Dry humor. Dry humor. Dry humor. She repeated it to herself, and he made sure she knew he was only kidding. Then three words got her “Just apply yourself,” Jesus Christ. And right when she thought she couldn’t feel it deeper, a big, bright C+ on her math test. “Apply yourself, Robin,” her mom’s voice, then her dad’s. She explained it all the second she got into Nancy’s room.

“Honey…” Nancy said with pursed lips, that universal expression of “sorry.” She frowned as Robin hugged her and she could feel a tear on her face. Nancy pulled back, Robin sat on the floor, knees to her chest. Sounds of fabric brushing against fabric, and clothing falling to the ground could be heard before Nancy sat next to her, wearing an old t-shirt and holding one out to Robin. She changed quickly and Nancy placed a kiss on her forehead. They climbed into the bed and Nancy pulled her as close as she could, Robin’s head fitting neatly against her chest.

“You know I love you, right?” she says, giving another kiss. “I-I know,” Robin says, the words already making her feel better, “it is nice when you say it though. Like really nice. It makes me feel really really safe and I love you too, a lot.” Nancy smiles against her hair, “Good, because you are safe. So safe. Okay? And I’m not disappointed in you, they shouldn’t be either. You’re trying… so hard. I see it, okay?” Robin sniffles, “t-thank you…” she buries her nose into the crook of Nancy’s neck. “You don’t need to thank me, baby. It’s all true. You’re so sweet… my sweet girl,” Robin squirms just a touch at that.

“Oh, you like it when I call you my sweet girl?” She makes sure to emphasize each word distinctly. Robin nods sheepishly, Nancy giggles quietly. “You’re such a sweet girl. Such a good girl,” she cups Robin’s face in her hands, kissing gently on her forehead, then one on her cheek, “What a good girl you are, honey. So good. So good for me.” She rewards her with even more face kisses. “So… so good.” Robin takes a long, shaky inhale. “Feeling better, sweetheart?” she finally looks up and makes eye contact, “Much, much better. Thank you,” Nancy kisses her forehead again, then smirks, “I need to ban you from ‘thank you’… and maybe ‘sorry’ too,”

“Sorry…” she whispers quietly against Nancy’s warm skin, “Shit! Wait! Sorry! I mean—“ Nancy quiets her with even more kisses, “I’m just joking, baby. You’re such a good girl for me. You love behaving and following rules, huh?” Robin hums softly in response. “You’re adorable,” they stay tangled up like that for a few more minutes, Nancy playing with Robin’s short hair, before she asks gently “W-will you read to me? Please?” Nancy can’t resist, not even in the slightest when she’s all cute like that, “You’re such a good girl, how can I say no when you’re so good? My sweet girl.”
