Chapter 1: AN

Chapter Text

Warning: If you do not like Lyanna and Rhaegar this is not for you. I repeat, if you do not like R+L=J, this is not for you. (I know some people have strong opinions on them.)

I never intended to publish anything, originally this was just for me as a way to practice my writing skills, now that I seldom use them. However, I really wanted to share my ideas, but since I don't have anyone who would be interested, I thought maybe I could share them with all of you.

I do apologize if some things seem wrong, but I haven't read the books in like ten years, and I refuse to reread them until the next book comes out. For now, I had to make use of the ASOIAF wiki, my horrible memory, and some slight use of my imagination. If you want to know, I never finished the show; I’m terrible at watching shows, and I do mean terrible. I think I only got to the fourth episode of the first season when it first began. I do know what happens, though, which is why I refuse to watch it.

I did change a lot of the ages, and I tried to be realistic and provide context when possible, but if you find something that’s completely off and I didn't address it at all, just use your imagination for now. I tend to write really out of chronological order, but you can trust that eventually I'll address any confusion.

Also, I'm not really sure where I want this story to go because to be honest, I've been working on some other stories and this one kind of sprung out from those. Of course, none of them are actually finished, but I'm really focused on this one at the moment. However, if anyone is interested, I could definitely share those as well.

Finally, I hope this is semi-enjoyable, if not at least mildly entertaining.

Some background information

  • Robb and Sansa are twins and are 10.
  • Jon was born near the end of the rebellion. He's 6.
  • Arya is 6.
  • Bran is 3.
  • Rickon is unborn for now.

You might see this AN again later on, just ignore it. I copied and pasted it from there on here for more warnings.

Again: If you do not like Rhaegar + Lyanna, you might very well not like this story. Also, it's mostly going to revolve around Jon/Aemon.

I know people have issues with the whole annulment plot from Game of Thrones, especially because Rhaegar already had a son; however, I’ve decided to use it because it lends itself so well for some good drama. So, if you also don’t like that, I'm really sorry, but this story is probably not to your taste. I just don’t want anyone to be disappointed later on.

Obviously, as we continue the story, you’ll find out more information as to what happened, but I will give you a little more background info so you can decide if this is going to be something you want to read.

After his marriage is annulled, he marries Lyanna, who dies in childbirth, along with their baby, supposedly. As mentioned before, he marries Cersei to pacify the Westerlands almost immediately after/during the end of the rebellion. The Westerlands were considered “fresh,” while the rest of the realm was hanging on by a thread, so they wanted to bind them to the Crown to not only end the current rebellion but also just in case they thought about rebelling.

The marriage was agreed on without Rhaegar's input, while he was in mourning, hence why Cersei remembers the city being awash in black. The Mad King was dead by then, and no one really cared about him, anyway.

Before his marriage to Cersei, he had Elia’s children legitimized, since an annulment would automatically strip them of their noble birth. (An annulment makes it like the marriage never happened.) Now Rhaenys and Aegon are a bit older than Jon/Aemon. Rhaenys is five years older than Jon/Aemon, while Aegon is four. Meanwhile, Joffrey is one year younger than Jon/Aemon. Aegon should technically be the heir presumptive, but he was never given the title of heir.

Lyanna was crowned Queen posthumously, which is why she’s still mostly referred to as Lady Lyanna.

Cersei’s official title is "King Rhaegar’s second wife, Queen Consort Cersei," because, as per the annulment, he was only technically married to Lyanna.

I know there are still a few plot holes regarding the rebellion, but I will give insights into that later on. But also, this story isn't actually about the rebellion itself or my version of it anyway.

Finally, this is all just for entertainment purposes, so please don’t take it too seriously. Hopefully, some of you still enjoy it!
