Together Forever

Summary:

Gidget and Manson talk about their future while watching Female Trouble.

Notes:

This story is a bit out of character for me, with no sex, violence, or gore. I felt it was very necessary, since it seems people only ever write about Gidget Gein if they’re portraying him as a loser drug addict. I’m not hating on most of these stories, but I think these stories don’t portray Gidget as he really was and is. He deserves to be remembered this way.
I have a special place in my heart for Gidget, and I’ve been wanting to write a story with him for well over a year at this point, but could never think of a story that was respectful to him, so I’m glad I wrote this, even if it may be short. Plus, I thought now would be a better time than ever.
Friendship is very important to me, and Gidget Gein and Marilyn Manson’s relationship is something I deeply admire, so that’s also why I wanted to write a story like this about them. I actually cried a little writing this, so there’s that.

Work Text:

“You like this movie, Manson?”

“Yeah,” Manson replied, staring forward at the fuzzy screen of the television. “I always wonder how you discovered things like this. I would’ve never even heard of Divine if not for you.”

Playing on the box-shaped television was Female Trouble, one of Gidget’s favorites. He had brought the tape along to their sleepover to show Manson what he was missing in the world of filth. It wasn’t Manson’s first Divine film—Gidget had introduced him to those some time ago—but Brian was finally adapting to the filth lifestyle, and therefore needed to see more in order to continue his growth.

As Divine stood on stage in all her glamour in cruelty, shooting at the members of the nightclub audience with her pistol, Gidget laid with his head on Manson’s chest.

“We’re going to be just like that when we’re famous, aren’t we, Manson? We’re gonna do so many crazy things…” Gidget said with a smile, tilting his head up at Manson. He sneaked his hand up Manson’s leg, stopping at his thigh and resting there, not too close, but not too far.

Manson felt something rising within him, but managed to keep cool. “Yes, we are.”

Gidget planted a kiss on his cheek. He sighed and leaned his head down to rest on his shoulder. His gentle hand stayed put on his thigh, much to Manson’s dismay.

‘Either do something or take it off,’ he thought to himself, but of course he’d never make any verbal complaints to Gidget.

“Would you die for art, Brian?” Gidget asked, suddenly asking his best friend a question rather than his persona. Manson could feel his gaze on him without even looking, still staring straight ahead at the television.

“Yes, Brad. Would you?”

“Mhm,” he hummed. “In fact, I think I will.”

“Oh, don’t say that,” Manson scolded, finally looking at him with a disapproving frown.

“What?” Gidget asked with a grin, pulling away from Brian and sitting up on his knees. “You don’t want me to leave you?” he asked in a teasing tone.

Manson swallowed, and he wasn’t quite sure if he was unnerved by Gidget’s question or by the man being unaffected by his assumed fate. “Of course not.”

“Aww, how sweet,” Gidget cooed, his smile becoming that of a taunting expression.

Manson couldn’t take it anymore. If he admitted to his need for Gidget, he might as well go all the way. “Could I…have a kiss?”

“On the lips?” Gidget asked, clearly a little taken aback.

Brian nodded, lips humming out an affirmative.

“Well that’s new,” Gidget remarked. He was fascinated, possibly even delighted by this new side of Manson. “Sure.”

Without hesitation, Gidget leaned forward, his hands planted firmly at Manson’s sides, and kissed him on the lips. It was a simple peck, and Manson held Gidget's face between his hands as he pulled away. “You’re the greatest friend I’ve ever had,” he whispered, his voice sweet and sentimental.

Gidget giggled. “Don’t get all sappy now. It was just a kiss, it’s not like we’re getting married.”

Manson paused. “Is marriage an option?”

“Don’t be silly, Brian,” Gidget laughed, pulling away and sitting back down beside him. “We’ll be together forever, of course, but you don’t really want to marry me, do you? I’m…well, me.”

“I don’t mind you,” Manson replied with true indifference to any sort of quirk there was in Gidget.

Gidget sighed with a snicker. “You’re a real romancer, aren’t you, Brian?”

“Do you think so?” Manson asked, a pretty straightforward question with a pretty straightforward expression on his face, staring at Gidget.

“Yeah,” Gidget muttered as he moved around on the bed, something shifting in his mind. “I do think so.”

Manson just stared. Gidget stared back, the movie playing in the background long forgotten.

Gidget was the one to break the silence.

“Can I kiss you again?”

“Yeah.”
