Tonight We Steal the Moon

Summary:

Betty's made some mooncakes for the Festival

Notes:

Today was a day that needed more fluff in the world. <3

Work Text:

“Aiya!  Out of my kitchen!  Go!”

A rich chuckle rumbled through Franklyn’s chest as he nimbly dodged the snap of Betty’s towel. Eyes dancing in merriment, he splayed his large hands low across her hips.

“But my dear!  They smell nearly as good as you!”

She followed him as he sidestepped to duck around her. “Mmm. And they will continue to smell good.”  She reached up to tap a dainty finger along his collarbone, admonishing him with a laugh. “And they will not taste good until festival day!”

“Torture!”  He took a long dramatic sniff of the air while plying her with his best pleading stare. When she merely arched an eyebrow his way, he began to sway with her, humming low into her ear.

She tipped her head, letting his lips slip down along her neck as she swayed with him. “They need to sit for a few days, let the oil return.”

He grabbed her hand & twirled her around into the living room, laughing in delight as her cheeks flushed.  He pulled her close and continued their quiet dance, gazing at her lovingly.

“Franklyn!  I need to put the mooncakes away!”

He dipped her low, his mouth nuzzling at her jaw. “Forget the cakes!  YOU are my moon. My stars. My everything!”

Delicate hands swatted at his broad chest, her tinkling laugh filled the air.  Admonishment danced in her eyes. “Your sweet words won’t get you a cake!”

“No my love?”  Franklyn reached out to the side and a small hand slipped a confection into his. “Strong work Eddy my boy!”

She huffed as the young boy scampered away, his mischievous grin matching his father's.  “Having the children do the work while you distract me?  Quite a bit of effort, all for unrested mooncakes!”

He wagged a finger as he lifted the pastry with a satisfied look. “Ah!  But it is an unrested mooncake I can eat now!”

Betty smiled sweetly, gazing up at him through thick black lashes. “I put durian in one.”

“Betrayal!”  His eyes narrowed as he gazed back and forth between her face the cake he’d been about to bite into.

“So the question is then, are you lucky my husband?”

“Gross!!!  Awww mannn!!”  Frank Junior’s voice floated out from the kitchen, ringing with disappointment as Aaliyah and Eddy whooped with laughter, Noah babbling along in confused toddler gibberish.

His dark eyes danced as he pulled her in for another kiss, his deep warm chuckle enveloping them.

“The luckiest, my love!”
