Work Text:

WARNING ⚠️ : Suicide

The room was dim, and the light barely reached the corners, but the person didn't seem to care. He was used to the dark anyway. The cold from the floor crept through the mat on which he was sitting, leaving him with a tingling chill that carved into his very bones.

His gaze was fixed at a small bottle of pills in his hand while his mind kept drifting through all his memories, as if he was desperately trying to find something, anything really, but everything he saw felt dull. After a while, everything lost its meaning and was... boring and empty. He always felt like he could have done more with his life... Would that have made his life a little more colorful? Or at least some  of that meaning he was looking for?

His grip around the bottle tightened as he steeled himself. No more hesitating. He decided that he was tired of a life so meaningless, dull and lifeless. Tired of feeling like he was running in circles. Tired of feeling like a stranger to himself as he watched his life unfold from outside. Tired of living like he was dead. Tired of living. He swallowed a few pills and closed his eyes as he drifted off to sleep. Forever.

...

Or at least that's how I thought my life ended. What is going on? Why am I suddenly conscious? Why is it so bright in here? I felt so drowsy that I couldn't even open my eyes. My hands immediately clutched a.. blanket? I don't remember curling in one. I could clearly feel lying on my back, but I don't remember my carpet being so soft. My mind started racing. What is happening right now?

I could hear something, I think. I'm not really sure as somehow my ears felt like they were about to ring. I have to be calm and retrace my thoughts. Ok, so the pills didn't work, the place is stupidly bright for some reason, and I can't make out what those voices are saying.

What are my options now? I could be hallucinating this, the side effects and whatnot. Or this could be some sort of weird dream? Maybe the afterlife? If not, should I call the police or my doctor? Or is this more of a therapist problem?

I suddenly became aware of my breathing, I was breathing too fast with shorter breaths each time. I could feel my fingers and my toes go cold as an uncomfortable heaviness settled in my stomach. I took deliberate and deep breaths to calm down. After all, panicking is not going to help. waited for what felt like a few seconds, I could barely make out what they were saying.

"What do you want to name him, dear?" A voice asked. It sounded very authoritative, but it was dripping with concern and warmth somehow. I slowly managed to open my eyes as blurry blobs were in my line of sight but, despite not being able to see clearly, I could say that the blobs in front of me were not the owner of the voice.

As my eyes continued to gain clarity, it eventually revealed a woman who seemed to be the blobs from earlier. The woman smiled brightly even though she clearly seemed exhausted. Her hair was a beautiful shade of sunset orange, and she had light emerald green eyes.

"Felix.." the woman replied. "His name will be Felix Lucias Valerian, the third prince of the Valerithia empire." Her bright smile dazzled as the light from the windows made her glow. "Welcome to the world.. Felix, " she said softly as she lifted me into her arms. She gave me a hug so warm that it melted all of my worries and panic. The hug was so comforting that I didn't even notice sleep settling in. I blinked my eyes closed, thinking how weird this memory is, as it has nothing to do with me. But if this is the last thing I ever remember, then maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

Author's Note:
And scene!~
I loved writing this chapter because I wrote all of his depression in like, 3rd person while I wrote his rebirth in 1st person!!

To symbolize is new life and new start and whatnot. Was this a good writing thing or did I fail to execute this properly? 🤔

Please let me know your thoughts!! I would also appreciate any constructive criticism since English is not my first language.

THANKYOU FOR READING MY WORK! HOPE YOU ENJOYED!!
