Work Text:

"Come, I have something to show you." Solak spoke in a soft tone, reaching out to Dolion.

The black knight hesitated, but eventually gave in, entangling his fingers into the fire knight's.

He looked up at the tall man, a hue of pink blooming across his pale cheeks. "How do you even know where you're going if you don't see." he asked innocently.

The black knight let out a breathless chuckle. "It's instinct at this point. The Lands Between were my home, after-all."

Solak's body language saddened as he spoke. His past was not something he'd tend to bring up a lot.

Dolion nodded solemnly, noticing a shift in the fire knight's demeanor and tried to change the subject. "May I ask where you're bringing me?" he spoke in a soft voice.

"Be patient. It's not too far now and I'm certain you'll love it."

They continued their walk in silence, enjoying each other's company as the night breeze gently cooled their faces.

The black knight drank in the view of Solak as they made their way to their mysterious destination. The way the moonlight bounced off of his fiery red hair, his beautiful, sharp features, all of it was breath-taking to Dolion.

If only I could run my hands through his gorgeous locks.

He had fancied the fire knight for quite some time now. When he escaped the wrath of the black knight dungeon in order to serve Messmer, Solak was one of the first people to greet him. He seemed protective of their lord at first, but Dolion couldn't blame him. The black knights had betrayed him after all.

"I'm here in peace!" he spoke in a shaken breath, blood of his old family still dripping from his armour.

Solak had brought his hand to the black knight's face, his fingers brushing on the fresh scar.

"Did they do this to you?" he asked, stoic.

Dolion winced as the fire knight's nails grazed his fresh wound. "Yes," he confirmed, fear in his voice. "I had to fight my way out of the crypt. I refuse to believe that Lord Messmer should be shunned for his origins."

Solak nodded, gesturing him towards the manor and the rest was history.

He didn't know at the time that the fire knight was blind and thought he touched his scar as some sort of initiation, but it made sense to him later. He'd gotten used to Solak touching him now, but yearned for something more intimate.

Over the time they've known each other, Dolion developed feelings for the fire knight. He'd shiver at the sound of his deep voice, blush so hard when Solak's fingers would graze his skin. He'd never felt this way before, so he did what he does best: repress those emotions in the deepest part of his mind. Anyways, there was no way the fire knight felt the same for a pathetic guy like him.

Dolion was snapped out of his thoughts by Solak abruptly stopping, pulling the black knight towards him.

"We're here." he rasped, taking a deep breath to enjoy the fresh air.

The younger man tore his eyes away from Solak to survey they area. The sight before him was unlike any other. Fields upon fields of flowers, all slowly swaying to the midnight breeze. The wind wafted the scent of nature straight to their nostrils, caressing them with their gentle aromas.

"How…" Dolion begun before the fire knight cut him off.

"I used to come here a lot. Before the war." his voice took a sad tone. "I noticed how much you love flowers and thought I'd show you."

Solak tightened his hold on Dolion's hand before letting go moments after. Seemingly encouraging the black knight to look around.

Dolion feared that someone - or something - would jump out at him while his guard was down.

"The villagers are all fast asleep during the night. There's no risk of you getting hurt." Solak said, as if reading Dolion's mind.

The black knight grabbed the fire knight's hand, pulling him towards a particularly beautiful patch of golden flowers.

They must have some roots from the Erdtree with that beautiful glow…

"These flowers," Dolion spoke, delicately tracing his fingers upon the plants' golden petals, "they look like tiny suns with the way they glow…"

He looked up at Solak in awe warmth pooling in his stomach. The golden shine of the flowers reflected the fire knight's blazing red hair like holy magic licking the flames of the volcano manor. Dolion thanked Marika that Solak couldn't see him right now, because he knew from the warmth on his face that blush bloomed across his milky white skin.

He's so beautiful…

If only he could convince himself to tell Solak how he felt. He let out a frustrated grunt, hoping it went unheard.

"What's wrong, boy?" the fire knight asked, squeezing Dolion's hand a bit tighter.

Fuck… I was really hoping day would go unnoticed…

"N-nothing!" he stuttered, embarassed. "It's just… I just find it so sad you can't see their beauty, Solak." he murmured.

"I'm flattered, but don't worry about me. My eyes have been damaged long ago. I can enjoy things in my own way."

The black knight squeezed Solak's hand harder, his breathing becoming quick. He wanted to tell him how he felt. This moment seemed perfect, but it was just so difficult.

"That's not what was bothering you, was it Dolion?" the fire knight asked in a gentle tone.

Hearing his name spoken by Solak was like music to his ears. The black knight could never get enough of it.

"No," he admitted, breathing a drawn out sigh, "I just don't know how to say it."

The fire knight released his grip from Dolion's hair, gently tangling his fingers into his auburn curls. "You can trust me, you know that, right?" he murmured, softly carding his hands through the black knight's locks.

Dolion hummed softly, he'd grown to love when Solak would play in his hair. He took a deep breath and built the courage to speak. "I want to be more than friends, Solak." his voice shook as anxiety took over.

This confession… it could ruin their friendship. He could lose his only friend, the only person he ever got close to. Had he ruined it? Was it ove-

"I'm not against it." Solak replied, stopping Dolion's spiralling.

He looked up at the fire knight, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "Wait, really?"

Dolion swore he saw Solak crack a smile before he spoke. "Why don't we explore those feelings together, my little sunshine?"
