Chapter Text
A young woman with long raven hair sat at a table inside a room. She watched as the door opened and an African American man wearing all black with an eyepatch walked in.
"You're in a lot of trouble, young lady." He said as he approached the table.
"I didn't do anything."
Nick Fury watched the girl with his one eye. "The giant cat outside."
"Mine! Don't touch it!"
Fury gave a nod. "What's your name?"
"Kiara." She answered. "Kiara Shirogane."
Fury pulls out a chair and sits down across from her. "You're not from this universe, are you?"
Kiara snorts. "That's right." She nods. "I'm not. What gave it away? My mechanical cat outside?" She asks.
It was Fury's turn to snort. "That's definitely one way."
"My turn. Who are you?"
Fury straightened. "If you'll follow me Miss. Shirogane." He said as he stood up.
Kiara studies him, then shrugs. "Can't hurt." She too stood up to follow him out of the room, and she looked around the halls as they walked.
"I am Nick Fury, the Director of this facility." He turns to her. "My Earth is not peaceful."
Kiara looks at him. "Neither is mine." She shoved her hands in the pockets of her light blue denim jacket. "So if you've got a portal hidden in a closet or in a back pocket, I'd love to borrow it."
"It doesn't work that way I'm afraid." Fury said as they walk down a hallway.
She rolls her eyes. "Of course." She grumbled as she followed him.
Inside the mess hall, Steve Rogers just closed the fridge door holding an apple. He approached the table where Clint Barton who was enjoying some oatmeal.
"I'm telling you, Cap." Clint was saying and tapping the oatmeal box with his spoon. "This right here is the good stuff."
"I'm sure it is." Steve said with amusement. "But I'm still happy with the apple for now."
Clint rolled his eyes. "Fine, more for me." But choked startled when Fury's loud demanding voice filled the room.
"Agent Barton, shouldn't you be in the training room with Romanoff?"
Both Clint and Steve turned to see Fury standing there with a young woman.
"I would Director, but she's having more fun wiping Rumlow's face into the mat."
Fury hummed. "Very well." He nods. "Agent Barton, Captain Rogers." He turns to face Kiara. "This is Kiara. She'll be staying here until we can find a way home for her."
Before further conversation could continue, Kiara swiftly turns to grab the wrist of someone's hand and throws the person who decided to come up behind her, over her shoulder and into the room.
Jack Rollins landed face and knees on the floor and his butt in the air.
Clint tried hard to not snicker, while Steve gaped Kiara, and Fury turns to face her again.
"Miss. Shirogane what did my agent do to you?"
Kiara gave him an apologetic look. "I'm sorry sir."
"I like her." Clint grins.
"Agent Rollins get your face off the floor!" Fury demanded, making the man on the floor scramble to his feet.
"Yes sir!" He stumbled to his feet and dusted himself off. "Sorry sir."
"Right." Fury grunts. "Gentlemen." He turns back to Kiara. "We have business to discuss about your future here."
"All I want is to go home."
"Like I told you before, that can't happen just yet."
The door closes behind the two as they move on. Clint turns to Steve.
"I wonder who taught her that."
"Don't look at me." Steve said with a shake of his head. "She's new to me too."
"Great!" Rollins grumbled as he brushed off his chest. "Another rookie."
"A rookie woman, who made you kiss the floor." Clint said with a chuckle. "I gotta go tell Nat!" With that he ran out of the room. Steve moved to follow him.
