Chapter 1: The same old flame again

Chapter Text

Today was a cold autumn day-Sammie’s favorite-he was sat under his favorite tree. He momentarily looked up from his sketchbook book to look up at his friends. Bobby was talking about some comic he read to Rogue. They were cute together. He’d known Bobby for years, so he was happy for the guy.

Sammie tapped his pencil against his notebook. John was late to lunch, again. He didn’t know how he managed to be late to  every class. It’s not like the campus was big or anything. Sammie was starting to think he did it on purpose. Maybe to piss him off, or maybe because he way still in his rebellious phase at 17.

It was weird to think that they were turning 18 this year. Bobby and Rogue still had a year and some change, but him and John were about to be adults. That was a scary thought. He didn’t know what he’d do after school. This school was the only place he felt safe in, because of his mutation he had his rainbow patches all of his body. Bobby said it looked like vitiligo, Rogue said it made him look unique, and John said it was kinda cool. Sammie liked to think that was a compliment.

Sammie sighed and shook the thought. His head was always all over the place. It was like he couldn’t keep a single straight thought. Before he could rack his brain his thoughts were cut off by someone standing next to him.

”Scoot over will you?”
