Work Text:
I dream about knights and ninjas.
About legendary worlds and magic.
About strong heroes and elves.
I remember, when I was younger,
I used to spend hour imagining the most epic stories,
All night and all day long.
I was the knight, the ninja, the strong hero, the elf.
I was saving people's lives and I made them smile.
I was strong.
No matter what was happening.
I remained strong.
Through the adversity and evil,
Heroes never quit.
They're powerful and kind.
They face hurdles, of course.
But it make them better persons.
And I'd always win.
Of course, heroes always win.
.
..
....
Right?
.
.
W-well...
..
.
. .....
No, I'm sorry.
.
Heroes don't always win.
I realized it sooner than I should've.
And I cried.
I was in my world, I was a soldier.
I saved people.
I made them smile.
Then, it punched me in the face.
Like the villain I wasn't able to beat
It will never happen.
.
I cried, all the tears I had, alone, in my bedroom.
How this reality could be so cruel?
I wanted to be the hero of my stories.
how I tough this would happen?
I spent so much time daydreaming.
All for nothing?
Why?
And you wanna know what's the worst part of it?
I still do.
I still picture a life full of epic fights and warriors.
It's still my escape.
And thinking "that will never happen"?
It's still broke me into pieces.
I avoid that thought.
It's too hard to face.
When the whole world is getting cruel to you, what would you do?
Go in the Internet?
Talk to a friend?
Me, I dream.
Thinking about some awesome relationships and adventures.
It's the only way I found.
The only one that works.
Since my youngest days.
This was just a dream, I know.
But throughout my life it was there.
And it didn't felt like a dream.
