Chapter Text
There stood Max, on the edge of the cliff, watching a tornado approach, Arcadia Bay was minutes away from being destroyed, and Max had to make a decision: sacrifice Chloe, his friend and the love of his life, or sacrifice the town, It was a very difficult decision for someone so young, how could he let Chloe die? How could he let an entire town die? Apparently, the right decision turned out to be the most painful, Max refused to even consider it, but in the end, there was no better option, she could only look sadly at Chloe, "Don't forget about me", those were the last words Max heard from Chloe's voice.
With tears in her eyes, Max pulled the photo from her pocket—the photo that had started all this chaos, she stared at the picture as everything around her distorted and spun around her, and then… she wasn't on the cliff anymore; now she was back in that damned bathroom, as soon as she saw the tiled walls, her tears turned into sobs, when she heard the bathroom door open, she started crying harder, but it was a silent cry, Max knew who had come through the door: it was Nathan, knowing that every word he was about to say wasn't comforting at all for Max, It was even worse when the door opened again and Chloe walked in.
At that moment, Max wished Chloe had never entered that bathroom, but that was the reality, as soon as he heard Chloe's voice, he covered his face with his hands to try and stifle his crying, but Max simply couldn't let Chloe die, the thought of a world without her made his stomach churn, he had to do something, but what? His only option hadn't ended well the first time, what could he do differently? The discussion quickly turned to Nathan pointing his gun at Chloe.
Seeing Chloe on the verge of death, Max decided she couldn't let her die, when Max saw Nathan pointing his gun at Chloe, she stood up and ran towards them, she hoped to push him away enough for Chloe to escape, but unfortunately, as she left her hiding place, Nathan heard her, this caused him to turn towards Max, and accidentally, Nathan pulled the trigger of his gun, then Max stopped.
Suddenly Max felt an enormous pain in her chest, she began to breathe with difficulty, then she looked down at her chest, when she did she could see blood, her own blood, at that moment the pain began to numb, her legs stopped responding and she fell to the ground, everything began to feel cold, her vision began to blur, she was bleeding out, she was dying.
It wasn't what he wanted to do, but at least Chloe would be alive, everyone in town would be alive, even with his vision blurred, he could see Chloe's face when she realized it was Max who was bleeding out in front of her, he also saw the expression of horror on Chloe's face when she realized Max was bleeding out, Before his vision completely went dark, he could make out David entering the bathroom and subduing Nathan, his vision finally darkened, but he could still hear things around her.
"MAX!", he heard Chloe's voice shouting his name, "MAX!", "MAX!", Max could only think that he had managed to save Chloe, "don't forget me," those words echoed in Max's mind, "don't worry Chloe, I never will," little by little the sounds became more distant until Max could no longer hear anything, "I love you, Chloe," was Max's last thought before he died.
