Katsuki always kept an eye on her. He didn’t really know why — he had to make sure she was safe. Even though it sounds cliché (and the thought alone made him gag) Ochako wasn’t like others.
After the U.A Sports Festival she proved herself as a worthy opponent and something shifted. He couldn’t brush her off like any other extra. She stayed in his mind, unignorable.
Now he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. She sat so far from him, surrounded by her friends, her giggles carrying across the room. Even her stupid laugh was addictive.
All of class 2 A had decided to hang out at a nearby bar. Of course, he (not so politely) rejected the offer, so he could have a much better time on his own. If it weren’t for Shitty Hair, who insisted on dragging him along just to spend some time with that pink extra, he’d be relaxing on his couch.
A small part of himself was grateful to his best friend for dragging him there. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have seen her like this — all dressed up. Ochako’s amazing body had never been a secret to anyone. Even in the school uniforms her curves were impossible to ignore. But the low-cut dress she was wearing now…
Katsuki’s mind went blank. He almost wished having an invisibility quirk, just so he could get closer and stare for a little longer.
His tongue clicked, fingers tightening on his drink. He was forced to be here, and he couldn’t even walk up to her. Why did he feel like such a pussy? He was Katsuki Bakugo for God's sake. That meant that he didn’t care about anyone, right?
A burst of laughter filled the room and he immediately turned to her. She was bursting up in laughter, tilting her head back a little, at something Mina had said. Ochako covered her mouth to stop laughing, looking around, embarrassed at how loud she’d been. Their eyes locked for a second, he scoffed at her pretty pink face.
“What was that?” Kirishima elbowed him, glancing in the same direction that Bakugo had just looked. From that angle Uraraka was still giggling about whatever joke Mina had made. “Ohh…” he smirked.
“What’s your problem, do I have something written on my face?” Katsuki growled, taking a sip of his drink.
“Relax man” Kirishima laughed, and Katsuki wondered why he let him become his friend. “It’s ok— I think someone has a little crush”. He pinched Bakugo’s cheek before he slapped his hand away.
“Shut up” he snapped, shoving his friend off the chair.
“Dude, chill, we all have a crush on someone, I’m not the one to judge”. He sat back, his tone a little more understanding, trying not to get a black eye. “Plus, she’s really cute, I get you”. Katsuki glared daggers at him, Kiri swore he could see sparks flickering in his eyes. “I… didn’t mean it like that.” His stare didn’t soften “I need to pee, see ya”.
He was alone once again. He sighed and ordered another drink, glancing back at her.
Her cheeks were redder than usual, she was probably drunk. Katsuki smirked to himself, eyes dropping to his glass before flicking back toward her. The chair where Ochako had been sitting was empty. His stomach dropped, and he began scanning the room with his eyes.
Katsuki then saw Mina dragging her onto the dance floor. Ochako was shy at first, barely moving, as she laughed at Pinky’s dance moves. But it didn’t take long for her to loosen up, hips slowly swaying to the beat.
The boy was stunned, he even forced himself to look nonchalant, when he realized his mouth had fallen open. She looked like she belonged in a movie, and Katsuki was admiring the scene before him.
Colored lights flashing across the room, dancing over her face, her smile. She kept dancing, glancing at him, or so he thought (or liked to believe).
Of course he wasn’t the only one who was speechless. Plenty of other men around the bar seemed just as captivated by her. But only one of them had the courage to walk up to her.
And sure as hell wasn’t Katsuki.
Some other bastard approached her, moving in close behind her. He had a stupid smile on his face, drink in hand. His free hand rested against her waist, fingers slowly brushing over the fabric of her dress. Katsuki’s jaw clenched when she shot him an uneasy look, as if silently asking for his help.
He wasn’t going to stare at some creep putting his hands on her.
Bakugo got up. Fists clenched and posture tense. Ochako saw him head toward them, eyes widening slightly . At that moment Bakugo wondered if the glare that she had given him actually meant something— or even if she was even looking at him. He wasn’t gonna waste the chance to mess this guy up, the thought alone of someone else touching Ochako made sparks crackle at his fingertips.
Katsuki “accidentally” slammed into the guy, causing him to spill his drink all over himself.
“What the fuck?” he snapped “what is your fucking problem, man?” The guy walked up to Bakugo, shoving a hand against his broad back. Ochako stood there, unable to process what was happening.
As soon as Katsuki felt the guy’s touch he turned to him with a murderous glare, eyes glowing red beneath the flashing lights. The whole atmosphere of the bar shifted. And more so when this guy recognized Bakugo.
“Wait… You’re —” His face drained of color and Ochako thought he might actually pass out.
“Get the hell out of my sight, you disgusting creep” Katsuki towered over him. The now insignificant man looked seconds away from pissing himself.
Bakugo continued on his way, heading to the bathroom, brushing past Uraraka as she mumbled a shy “thank you”.
Whatever— he hadn’t done it for her anyway.
She stood there, too stunned to speak. But before she could stop herself, Ochako found herself following him toward the bathroom.
She had changed a little since he’d first met her. Ochako Uraraka was never the kind of person to be left speechless, she wanted to know why he did that and she was going to get an answer. Then again, she was a bit tipsy.
Before Bakugo could close the door of the restroom, she slipped inside. He stared, confused.
“The hell are you doing here Cheeks?” he barked, crossing his arms over his chest, as if the idea of her following him into a secluded area didn’t turn him on a little.
“I…” the words didn’t come out, she was dizzy and couldn’t think straight. Part of it was for the alcohol running on her system, but another part of it was Katsuki himself —his overwhelming presence that made her heart pound against her chest.
“Don’t tell me you came here for me” one corner of his lips lifted, looming over her, “what, Uraraka? You get needy when you’re drunk?” something shifted. He wasn’t intimidating anymore, now Ochako was afraid of losing control around him.
“WHAT?” her face turned red, and she hid it behind her hands. Bakugo grinned at her reaction.
“Relax Cheeks, it isn’t that time of the night yet” he teased, tapping the top of her head, his big hand covering it almost completely. Then slipped past her, their bodies brushing against each other’s, as he walked out of the restroom.
Ochako was left standing there, all flushed, overwhelmed and with the question still stuck on her throat.
Maybe some more shots could help… Or so she thought.
About twenty minutes had passed, and Bakugo was sitting by the bar, alone once more. He didn’t even know where Uraraka was, but for some reason their last conversation made him feel a bit relaxed.
He heard someone sitting right next to him. Those kinds of things pissed him off. Why the fuck would someone sit right beside him, when all the seats are empty. He turned, prepared to insult the shit out of whoever it was. But he couldn’t.
“What the fuck happened?” he growled. Ochako stared with unfocused eyes at him. She was way drunker than before.
“What do you mean?” her voice came out soft, words slightly slurred. Her pouty eyes looked up at him. Katsuki’s heart nearly stopped. How could she be so damn cute?
“Forget it, keep drinking like that and you're going to end up in a ditch, idiot”.
Ochako rolled her eyes and leaned back in her chair. Bratty bitch, Bakugo thought, with an amused huff.
“Excuse me, could I get a shot of tequila please?” a little tipsy, she propped herself against the bar, the neckline of her dress slipping just enough. Katsuki could see the bartender's gaze wandered, unable to stop staring. Bakugo shot him a murderous glare.
“Ummm… coming right up” the man mumbled, intimidated by him. Ochako was too drunk to notice any of this.
Katsuki could hear her quietly humming to herself, eyes closed, breathing slow and steady. He found himself staring at her, in a daze.
“Here you go, it’s on the house” the bartender snapped him out of his thoughts. Bakugo instantly felt the urge to kill him.
Before Uraraka could have her shot, Bakugo snatched it off her hand and drank it himself.
“Hey! That was mine!” Ochako yelped, jerking in her seat at the surprise.
“You were too damn slow, Cheeks” he shrugged, his lips curling into a mockingly grin.
“I paid for that!” she squeaked.
“No, you didn’t.”
She frowned at him, crossing her arms over her chest, lips forming a small pout. He could swear that if he had one more shot, he would kiss every inch of her pretty face. Of course, then he’d have something to blame it on.
“Excuse, could I—” Ochako was about to ask the bartender for another shot, mainly to annoy Bakugo, when he covered her mouth with his hand, nearly covering half of her face.
“It’s time to leave, where are your friends?” he said, amused at how she didn’t try to shove his hand away. He slowly removed it.
“They left a while ago”. She answered quietly.
“What? They left you alone? That’s fucked up” Katsuki snapped.
“No, no, it’s ok!” Ochako rushed out, having flashbacks of the Sports Festival, remembering Bakugo didn’t make exceptions for anyone. “They left, but you are here”.
“What makes you think…?” He noticed how drunk and tired she was. If he left her alone (not that he’d even consider it), anything could happen. Anyone could do whatever they wanted. He couldn’t even think about it. “Yeah, I’m here.”
Ochako smiled. He felt the heat crawling up from his neck.
“Let’s go” Katsuki grunted, avoiding eye contact, he felt he’d lose whatever self-control he had left.
“Okay! I hope I don’t bother you”
“Of course you do” Bakugo lied effortlessly “Catch” he threw her his jacket.
“What’s this for?” she seemed amused at Bakugo suddenly acting like a gentleman. She obviously knew why he’d given it to her— she just wanted him to say it.
“For mopping the floor, idiot. It’s cold outside, and you’re practically naked” he barked, reaching for the handle of the door. Ochako huffed quietly before following after him.
The walk back was quiet, especially because Ochako looked seconds away from falling asleep.
“I love late-night walks,” she hummed, leaning her head against his shoulder and closing her eyes. Katsuki’s heart skipped a beat, but he wasn’t some extra, he wasn’t gonna freeze up like Deku.
“They don’t completely suck” he slipped a hand around her waist, to steady her a bit and maybe to have an excuse to touch her.
“Wow! Something doesn’t suck to you?, that’s a surprise” she left out a soft sleepy laugh.
“Shut up Cheeks, I’m full of surprises” he tightened his grip on her waist and made her flinch, earning another quiet giggle from her. Warmth spread through his chest each time she laughed.
“What would Mina think if she saw us like this?” her hand settled on the fabric of his shirt.
“She doesn’t have to know shit” he answered, brushing his head lightly against hers, trying not to seem too clingy.
“Stop it” she huffed, pushing him away. He immediately pulled her back against his chest, and wrapped his arm around her waist again. Ochako gasped and felt heat rush to her face.
“Full of surprises” he shot her a cocky grin, while she silently went through an internal crisis.
They walked for a couple more minutes. No need to say anything, just enjoying the little time they had left.
“This is it” she stopped. Katsuki almost let out a whine, not wanting to let go of her, but gratefully he stopped himself. “Thanks for walking me home” Ochako smiled, and softly kissed his cheek.
Katsuki wasn’t new to love nor kisses and stuff, but he felt like a middle school kid, being kissed by the girl he liked. His heart dropped, heat creeping up his neck.
“You weren’t that annoying” he hummed, looking away.
She gave him a last smile, before opening the door and disappearing into the building.
He felt dumb. Lightheaded. And he wanted to grin at the entire damn world. What the fuck was happening.
Before he could walk away a window opened.
“Bakugo!” she squeaked. He turned around to see her leaning out the window “let’s hang out sometime”. The alcohol in her system kept her from feeling embarrassed.
His lips curled upwards, before he could stop them.
“See ya Cheeks” he said, giving her a small wave “soon”.
