Late Night Woes

Summary:

Allura is upset about her past relationship with the charming but untrustworthy Prince Lotor. Shiro is also upset, but not about the Prince. So, he comes to Allura as his safe space. Once Allura opens her door he realizes he came at the perfect time for a bonding moment, where they share everything to each other.

Notes:

A short and sweet Shallura fic since this ship is almost as dead as our beloved show (Voltron).

Work Text:

Allura sat on her soft white and baby blue bed. It was late at night, around 11pm. She was disappointed in herself again. How could she do that to the her team? to the Alteans? To the entire universe? Not just the team, the Alteans and the universe, but to herself as well.

How could she even love a man so… cryptic? She was wholly and utterly devoted to his plans. The fact that she felt was the absolute worst though, was the fact that she truly had feelings for him, and shared many affectionate moments with him.

Of course the man she was thinking about was Lotor. The only man she would ever bash herself over. She was embalmed in her regret, drowning deeper and deeper the more she reflected.

She thought of the very last time she heard the persuasive, long white haired man. His words replayed in her head endlessly, “Allura, my feelings for you are true… join me.” The overwhelming feeling of not wanting to leave him in the void turned into guilt. Leading to more self-destruction under the weight of her own mind.

Allura absolutely hated nights like this, when she couldn’t get out of her head. She was curled in a ball. Her knees were pressed against her chest and her eyes were droopy, as tears were falling down her cheeks landed onto her knees.

A sudden knock at the room door caused her to jump. “Allura?” A sigh of relief, it was just Shiro, but what could he want at such a late hour?

He knocked again as Allura wiped her face and slowly got up from her bed, her eyes glossy and her sclera a slight red.

Allura opened her door and stared up into Shiro’s radiant eyes. Somehow they always sparkled, even in the worst times. Shiro looked down at Allura with worry, his eyebrows raised and lips in a slight frown. He searched her entire being looking for a physical reason to why she looked so pained. When he couldn’t see a problem he asked, “Are you okay Princess?”

She slowly nodded her head, “yes, I am…okay.” The uncertain pause between her words did not go unnoticed by Shiro. He furrowed his eyebrows. He doesn’t want to prod, but he knows that sometimes, a little nudge can help a person spill what has weighed them down. “Are you sure you don’t want to talk about it?” He wanted her to say, “yes, I do want to talk about it.” or for her to say, “Of course I will share my most vulnerable thoughts with you.” He wanted -no- he was desperate to be there for Allura. He would love if she told him every trouble that burdens her and keeps her awake.

He wanted to be closer to her, to be her knight in shining armor, to be her detox after a long stressful day. To be there for her, meant everything to him.

Usually Shiro and Allura talked and laugh about business, or some silly thing they noticed after visiting a planet. On the rarest occasion, perhaps once, or twice a month, there would be days or nights like this. Where one of them came to the other and spoke about their heartfelt feelings and emotions. Shiro could feel that this night was one of those.

Allura looked around his face blankly, his white bang, his scar, his lips, then she stopped at his eyes. His sweet ever-shining eyes, that always looked so pure and so beautiful. After examining him and her feelings, she softly spoke, “come in.” He followed the instruction and was led to sit on her bed. “So… why did you come here so late?” Allura asked, trying to get Shiro to open up first. “I had a nightmare.” He chuckled, watching Allura’s eyes slightly widen.“Yeah, I know it sounds childish but I know you won’t judge me.” Allura shook her head, “It’s not childish, it’s concerning for you to come here for a nightmare. What was it about?”
