The end of the start?

Summary:

Something I did while bored in school

Work Text:

This is the end.

There was this city, called Paradise, that was said to be perfect and have the most peace ever in history, but what made people question this claim was the fact that outsiders were never allowed in the city they could only visit but it was always on the outskirts of the city. So let's take a deep dive into this city that was known for its lively place that had tons of people, everybody said that it was like a perfect paragon. Everyone is happy. Well was, then the creatures? Monsters? Things? They don't really have names but they were these horrible things that came from a wormhole that opened up and dropped them here. In the beginning around spring turning summer they were harmless and even helped people but when it turned to fall they became slightly more aggressive, randomly lashing out and screeching but that was it.

During the time of fall most people started to become more careful and be watchful on what they do as to not agitate the things. Most people stopped asking for help and stopped bothering them but some were not the brightest. This idiotic way of people led to loads of them dying, a slow painful death thanks to that. A large group of people started to group together in abandoned buildings on the east side of the city to start planning a rebellion against the things and to try and kill them so that no others will die or get hurt due to them, but they were already too late. For the reason they went east is that it is the opposite side of where the things have made their nest.

Then winter came faster than normal, or well it just felt like that. When it turned winter, well lets just say that i'm happy not to be there when winter came. The things were highly dangerous and animalistic, they soon became so aggressive that not only did they kill humans but they also killed each other too, but  never harmed the animals huh, that's a little weird isn't it? The humans were frightened horribly from this, all they saw was a mess of guts and blood everywhere. The pretty way of the white winter soon turned into a gore show of red, blue and guts.

The only difference to tell what was human and what was the things was the color of the blood. The color of the things was a blackish blue blood that leaves a tar like clumps on the floor. This is a very striking difference compared to the red brown human blood. This is what the word well this city has become: a city where the only thing you can do is try to stall until death comes for you. This lasted so long that the human race in the remote city started to lower, the population lowered so much that you could literally count the amount of humans left in the remote city, and probably in the world too since the city was home to at least a billion people.

This went on until spring where they stopped attacking and went back to helping the people, well trying to help at least. Trying because most of the people of course were scared from the previous bloodshed that had occurred in the winter. Most people wanted to leave or just hide away, others wanted to fight back against the things while they were peaceful, and the last group, well ,they wanted to protect and stay with the things. Oh and one more thing about this city to give you a little more understanding, once you are in you can’t leave, you can’t get out of the borders that are there which is why you don't get to go in because why would  you never be able to leave this place. Oh and the borders are completely invisible and the weather goes right through it like rain and snow, but never people, like a one-way pass. The city split into two different groups. Group 1 wanted to help the things so they sabotaged the others and continued to help the things, treating them with care and kindness. Group 2 had decided to attack the things and get them out of their city, they set traps and even attacked out right but they always failed somehow.

One night in summer, when the whole city was dark and silent, group 2 decided to set the things huge nest they had planted on fire. The noise that followed was deafening and loud. The screeches and yells were louder than any tornado warning siren ever, some people fainted from the loud noise, then they swarmed. Every single thing ran out towards the people not killing not fighter just running into the dark forest, the people didn’t follow didn't celebrate they just stood there staring, soon after all the people in a swift movement had all past out, they all had die do to shock, eardrums busting and some of their heads even exploding due to the high frequency of the screeches.

Then that was it the end of  over 91% of humans the end of life, or so you might have thought the things they inhabited the forest and live longs lives there they were happy, and even began to evolve to have more defined faces, more app like bodies and they only walked on their feet now not all fours. Over the long years they started to remake humanity with no knowledge of it, they built houses and more, technology and on, and on, and on. Until it was like nothing ever happened to Paradise City, and to them it was. I mean they did have no memories of being the things, no memories of attacking, nothing just a fresh start of new.

Then one day it happened, a rip in space, a wormhole? It broke through the sky and monste–wait, didn't that already happen? In the first paragraph before they beca-...

OH, oh, oh, right I forgot this happened. Well, yes it seems this did happen before, this is because you are now at the beginning of the story. You the reader are seeing how this world repeats, how the never ending cycle of this universe goes on and on. You also get to learn that every place has its secrets, and even if it seems perfect there will always be cracks in that false perfectionism.
