After her death, pure vanilla is lost.

Notes:

Work Text:

Pure Vanilla had always been the positive type, at least on paper
No matter how bad things got, he always tried to be positive, or at the very least show it.
He couldn’t pretend anymore.
He had lost his one and only, the one that their fated reunion kept him going
But fate is cruel; it takes away things that seemed just in reach

He never really understood what it meant to grieve. In his existence, he had to say goodbye to so many. His whole kingdom, even. He had loved her. He never had enough time. Maybe there was another universe where they could be together. But why not this one?

He sat down thinking of these. The first time he could think after burying himself in work after her death. He couldn’t think. He didnt want to think. Black Raisin had insisted that he took a break. They both knew, but they didn’t really know how to say it. His sorrow and exhaustion was nothing he had really seen in himself.

Meanwhile….

White Lily, long after reuniting with her fallen friends and companions, had returned as what some would call a ghost, her freedom allowing to travel across earthbread. She had visited her friends quietly, seeing their denial and acceptance. Nothing could have really prepared her for Pure Vanila. She knew he would blame himself, but she knew he was strong.

When she got to him, his sad sunken eyes and glow that had vanished brought her to a state of sadness. She wished that she could tell him. That she loved him. That she was free. But those words would never reach the cookie in front of her. She sat down and leaned onto his shoulder. He seemed to loosen up, but his expression didnt seem to change. But of course. He didn’t know.

Im so sorry i didn’t get to tell you white lily…

She perked up. It seemed that he had just started rambling to himself

I.. love you so much, more than you could have ever known

“ He…. felt the same?”

but she couldnt tell him
He couldn’t either

In every way

They were both too little too late.
