She pulled out her spear and pointed it right at the ghoul-like creature, going infront to protect her friends. But then, she went too close and killed the monster.
Her grip on the spear seemed to loosened a bit as she processed what she had done.
But everyone seemed to be in relief and in shock, praising her for killing a monster. Graecie seemed to notice her distress and assured her that it's all fine.
It really wasn't.
Everything that happend next was a bit of a blur for her: first she killed a mob by accident, then she was helping to get somebody out and next there was two more of those nasty creatures and she managed to kill one. Their icky blood was dripping from her spear and onto her hand.
Everything felt suffocating.
--
After some time had passed, her, Legs and Graecie went off to a small adventure in the capital.
" I would like to see the stars once again.." Zam suggested, the other two agreed and the three hiked up to a mountain where the top is flat enough for them to rest onto.
The sun had set and the moon shined as bright as ever. It was beautiful. The moon's light illuminated the nature surrounding the trio, everything was gorgeous to look at.
Most importantly, the stars were appearing one by one. Decorating the sky with it. Zam couldn't help but let herself glow a little too, something she does when she's content.
The night was beautiful but short, the trio went along their day anyway. They went to a ruined village, found Tim and they bid goodbye promising to come back with more food and continued walking on the path. Their day was going great until it wasn't.
They ran into a wolf. And Graecie was terrified of wolves, so Princezam did what she had to do: protect her. So she pulled her spear out once more and aimed it at the wolf, intimidating the animal, only for it to walk into the weapon and died on the spot.
Zam was so stunned she didn't noticed she dropped her spear, took a few steps back as she stared at the lifeless body of the wolf. Everything around her went still. Her eyes still fixed on the animal.
She heard Leg's voice trying to assure her that it's fine but the ringing in her ears were loud.
Poor wolf.
--
As Princezam was curled up in her bed, drowning in guilt, she thought back to Graecies offer..
" Do you wanna lay down in your room or in one of ours, Zam?" Graecie asked
" Oh uhm, I want to stay in my room. I wouldn't wanna take Twilight away from there, she likes it there.."
" Oh, it's okay!"
" But uhm, I really do appreciate the offer, that- that I can stay over there sometime.."
" Always, anytime." "Always!" Legs and Graecie both say in unsion.
' Maybe...' She thought, immediently shook her head no. ' Maybe they're all asleep, I wouldn't like to disturb their slumber..'
' But then..'
Her little thinking train was interrupted by a small nudge on her hand, it was Twilight.
" Oh.. Hi Twilight, what's wrong?" The dragon had a sad look on her face, she must've been sensing her owner's feelings.
" I'm fine Twilight.. just, a really not good day..." Zam let her dragon jump on her bed, the dragon nuzzled her head in Zam's neck and letting out a small whine.
" Twilight, I-I am sure that I am fine. Are you fine?" She gave comforting pats to her dragon, worried that her dragon might be feeling down or sick. But Twilight started to push her owner off the bed, struggling as she was not that strong yet.
" W-wh- Twilight? What's- ah!" Zam yelped as Twilight succesfully pushed her owner off the bed. Zam winced as she rubbed her face, trying to ease the stinging pain.
" Owh... Twilight.. That's not very kind.." she whined while her dragon was headed to the door.
" Oh? Do you want to go out?" The alien sat up, her dragon shook her head no. Zam dusted herself before fully standing up.
" Do you want me to go out?" She asked again, rewording her question. The dragon nodded and made her way back to her owner and started nudging her towards the door.
" Okay... I think you want me to go see Graecie or Legs..?" Twilight let out a noise that seemed to be approval. When Zam was at her door, she looked at twilite.
" Do you want to come with?" To which, her dragon responded by shaking her head 'no'.
" Okay, sleep well Twilight," She paused and looked at the copper golemn. " Friend, take care of her for me.. Okay, thank you! Goodbye!" Zam closed the door of her room and quietly made her way to the Fele's dorm.
She stopped for a moment to look through the glass dome above to look at the pretty stars, then continued to go up the stairs and to Graecie's room.
' Will she be awake at this time of the night?' Zam thought, hesitating to knock on Graecie's door. ' What am I doing... she's probably asleep already... I should just go.' Zam was about to leave, but then the door suddenly opened and revealed a sleepy Graecie.
" Oh, hi Zam! What are you doing here? Do you want to come in?" She asked, voice soft and gentle with a tinge of grogginess.
" Oh no, did I wake you up? I'm sorry.." The alien's antennas and tail lowered a bit, expressing guilt.
" Oh, no no, it's okay, I was just doing something in my room and I didn't check the time at all!" She giggled nervously before continuing, " I just felt that there was someone at the door and went to check it out and then I found you here! Come in!"
Zam nodded and walked into the room, looking around and seeing the lovely flowers. She sat on the edge of Graecies bed, tail curled into her lap as Graecie sat next to her.
" Are you okay, Zam?"
" Huh? Oh uhm.. Yeah, yeah I'm okay."
Graecie didn't seem to buy her lies.
" Was it because... of what happened?"
Zam tensed a bit before turning her head away, avoiding her friend's worried gaze.
" ... Sorry." She mumbled, as she started to fidget with the copper and iron rings and bells accessories on her tail, the ringing of bells softly echoed in the room.
" You don't need to be sorry for anything, Zam. It was an accident and I know you only wanted to protect us right?" Graecie affirmed, shifting a bit closer to Zam.
" ... Yeah. But still- I... I didn't mean to kill the wolf, I only did it to uhm, scare it away but..." Zam's voice wavered a bit, her antennas fully drooped down and stopped fidgeting with the accessories.
Graecie reached out and placed a hand over Zam's, carressing the back of it with her thumb.
" It's completely okay, no need to be sorry about, Zam! I know you don't like violence but, I think it's okay since it was scaring us and hurting us, and I think you did an amazing job protecting." She assured her, offering Zam her gentle smile. It made the alien smile too.
" .. Yeah, uhm. Thank you, Graecie.." Zam mumbled out, her gaze now on Graecie who was smiling as bright as ever.
" Do you want to sleep here? Oh! We're gonna have our first sleepover!" The white-haired gasped, pulling Zam's hand close to her chest, practically beaming.
" If-if it's okay with you then.. okay."
" Yay, oh blessed bells! Do you want to sleep in my bed or in another bed? The bed they gave us is pretty big and can fit 2 people, but only if you want, it's okay!"
" Perhaps? Maybe.? I-I don't know. I mean- uhm. I might wake you up when we are in the uhm, same bed.?"
" Nonsense! I'm pretty sure I can endure your sleeping habits!"
" Really.?"
" Yeah! Now, get comfy on my bed- wait Twilight isn't here?"
" Uhm no. She wanted to stay in my room and- and resting."
Graecie let out a small humm and nodded as she laid down on her bed, patting the empty spot next to her.
" Well, too bad Twilight's not here. Fleece would've loved having a play date.." The white haired frowned.
" Don't worry- uhm, Friend is taking care of her, so I know she is in good hands."
" Oh that's wonderful Zam! How is Friend doing?"
The two girls chatted for a while, two hours went by and they both started to feel a bit sleepy. Zam laid down next to the girl, leaving some space in the middle.
" Goodnight, Zam." Graecie whispered, turning on her side facing the alien girl.
" Goodnight, Graecie." She smiled before closing her eyes.
--
" I didn't mean to.."
Stab
" I'm sorry.. I'm sorry.. I'm.. sorry."
It hurts
" -am?"
" Graecie, run. Graecie, run!"
Stay away from her please
".. Zam?"
" Back off.!"
Violent
" I-... I.. I didn't think that would happen- I was just-"
You're a violent alien.
Violent.
Violent.
VIOLE -
" Zam.!" A familliar voice called out.
Zam shot up, panting and clutching her chest.
" Zam, are you okay? You- you were tossing and turning and mumbling something in your sleep and your face was all scrunched up so I was worried." Graecie explained briefly as she sat up and placed a hand behind the alien girl's back, rubbing it in a circular motion.
" I- I'm sorry- I- I... I don't- I don't know.. I.. I didn't mean- I'm not violent- I- I swear I'm not I- I'm not-!" Zam tried to explain, her voice all sounded broken and small as tears began to well up in her eyes.
" Zam... please.." She pleaded, hurt very clear in her voice.
" I'm sorr- uhm.. Maybe I should go, Graecie I- I didn't mean to wake you up like this..I-I.. It's stupid-" Zam was cutted off by a finger pressing against her lips.
" Zam, it's okay, it's been a long day. It was scary, especially the wolves but- you don't have to blame it all on yourself. Everything was unexpected! Please, Zam.. Friends are here to look after eachother right? Now don't cry, everything's okay." She pulled Zam into a hug, the latter clutching onto her like a baby koala, with Graecie kissing the top of Zam's head.
" ... Y-yeah. Okay.. Okay.. I'm sorry, Graecie."
" No worries, Zam." Graecie pulled away, " Now please stop apologizing, please?"
" Okay.. Can we- can we go lay down again, Please.?"
" Sure!"
The two girls were back laying down on the comfy bed, Zam curled up and Graecie on her side. Both facing eachother.
Graecie took Zam's hand and intertwined it with hers.
" Thank you, Graecie. Thank you for being my friend."
" That's what friends are for. Thank you for being my friend, Zam. Blessed bells."
Then they both fell asleep peacefully, holding hands. No worrying thoughts, no wolves to scare them, no monsters. Just pure comfort and the warmth of friendship.
