Work Text:
There was only one thing in the world that Pantalone valued more than money and it was time. He knew that as a moral he didn’t have it much, that’s why he always made sure that his schedule was followed, never missing a meeting even by a second. Every second in the Banker’s life was calculated. Everyone knew that, especially his husband.
That’s why Dottore was worried sickly. They were supposed to have a meeting regarding a few failed projects and the money that went into them. It was a few minutes past the time they scheduled it and it drove the Doctor insane. His husband should already be there, scolding him for wasting his mora on projects that were set to fail, but he was nowhere to be seen.
He stood up from his chair and went to look for the Regrator. Something was really wrong and if anything happened to the Banker, he was willing to burn the whole world down as an act of revenge.
Pantalone was the only person Dottore ever cared about. He was his husband after all. That’s why just a mere feeling of something being wrong with the other man, sent him into panic.
The Doctor was walking quicker with every step, his heart - that he wasn’t quite sure if he still had - was racing in his chest. Where could Pantalone possibly be? He wasn’t in his office, because that’s the place that Dottore just left. Maybe talking to one of the other Harbingers? For sure not. The Banker wouldn’t waste something so important to him like time for his co-workers (other than Dottore of course. For that man Regrator would waste every second of his mortal life).
Dottore tried to think of a last place that Pantalone could be. They talked about his plans for today last night before bed! Surely the Doctor remembered something! He should’ve listened to him in the first place!
He quickened his pace. Anything. He needed anything just to have a stupid clue where Pantalone was.
Thankfully the man found himself - or rather in utter horror he was carried here. The 11th Harbinger was helping the 9th get to his office. The Banker was bleeding from his chest and left leg.
Fuck
~
Pantalone was sitting in Dottore’s lab after his husband took the bullets from his body and bandaged him.
“The client got quite angry with me for not being interested in what he had to offer and you know how it is with men when they don’t get what they want,” the Banker said.
Dottore was finishing with his cigarette. He never smoked, but when confronted with the fact that some mere human would dare to hurt his husband, because of something so stupid, he need to relief his stress in some way (and hurting that motherfucker was not an option, since the 11th, who was present at the meeting, already handled that).
“Are you feeling any better?” Dottore asked. For now all he had to worry about is the Banker’s well being. Pantalone just smiled.
“Aww you’re worried” he teased the Doctor just rolled his eyes at that. Maybe he was deeply worried, but he would rather blow his brains out than tell him that.
“In your dreams” he murmured and the Banker laughed, which was then followed by a groan of pain. Oh, it’s gonna be a long night.
Pantalone couldn’t walk without it causing him pain and Dottore didn’t want his husband’s wounds to open. That’s why he decided that they’re gonna stay in the lab for tonight - he would be here anyway, since he had few experiments to finish, so Regrator was stuck with him.
~
It took Pantalone two weeks to finally be able to walk without it causing him pain and while dealing with that he also had to deal with an annoying, overprotective Dottore.
“Careful” the 2nd would say if he even saw a glimpse of discomfort on Regrator’s face after he put too much pressure into an injured leg. It pissed the Banker off. Every time his husband made a comment, Regrator wanted to strangle him.
Another thing that his dear Doctor loved to point out was Pantalone’s lack of knowledge on how to walk with a cane - which he needed after getting shot in a leg. Not like the Banker wanted to listen to anything Dottore had to say about his health, even if it would actually help him.
“You’re causing yourself more issues walking like that, dear” he said one morning while they were going to work.
“One more word and I am gonna punch you with that cane, Zandik” Panatalone just responded. He was way too tired to deal with this shit right now. He just wanted to go to work and bury himself in funds requests. He quite liked pointing out the mistakes that his co-workers made in them.
The Banker loved to be a pain in the ass for people and usually his husband was the victim of that, but ever since walking to Dottore’s laboratory became very painful for him, he had to find a new way to piss people off.
That’s why later in the day his husband’s segment walked into his office pissed off.
“The door is there to knock on it, dear” Pantalone said, not looking up from the reports.
“Prime is wondering why you cut his funds by 10%” said Delta.
“Tell Prime to either come here himself or go to my assistant if he wants to talk about that matter” The Banker did not have an assistant and they both knew that.
Regrator quite enjoyed messing with the other man - partially because he knew that the Doctor’s threats were empty. Also he just wanted to see his lover while in pain! Archons forbid!
Delta left his office and the original appeared there 30 minutes later.
“Why did you cut my funding?” Dottore asked.
“Your reports haven’t been exactly detailed. I don’t really know where all that mora is going for” Pantalone responded. The Doctor looked at him like he was crazy. In the comfort of their house he has been going in exact detail over every single project he’s been working on and the Banker - back when he still could - often visited his lab to see what he was working on. He cannot just use the ‘reports haven’t been detailed’ on him for fuck’s sake!
Dottore loved his husband, he really did, but while at work he was the most annoying person he had ever met. If literally anyone else was the Banker they would be long dead by Dottore’s hands. The 2nd also isn’t stupid, he knew that the real reason why Pantalone was playing with his money was, because he wanted the Doctor to visit him (or piss him off because of all the comments about his health he made) - as much as he wanted to seem professional, he wasn’t. Humans often get carried with their emotions while working.
Not like Dottore was any different from his husband while it came to that matter, but he wouldn’t admit that, even to himself. The 2nd was - in his own eyes - was never driven by emotion. What the Doctor failed to realise that the only feelings he carried were the ones to his husband and those often influenced his work.
“Loney…” Dottore sight. His husband was just smiling.
“So if I write more detailed reports my full funding will be back?” Dottore asked.
“I’ll think of that once I read that report,” the Banker said. And why does Dottore love that man?
