Second Stop
Mike: I hate that you had to come out on your own. I’m so sorry that I froze up back there. I’ve been such an idiot, and so god damn scared. And you have been so brave. I’ve lost all claim to that title now. All hail Will the Brave! I’m not ready to assemble a full press conference like you did, but if we survive this I’m officially coming out to the party. Jesus, they’ve probably all figured it out anyways.
Will: Mike, what are you talking about? You like girls.
Mike: And boys.You know that.
Will: You never said.
Mike: I didn’t think I had to.
Will: Are you...? Are you telling me that you’re bisexual?
Mike: ...wait, you didn’t actually think I was straight did you? So not only have I lost my claim to Mike the Brave, but you’ve lost your claim to Will the Wise. We really did go crazy together huh?
Will and Mike look at each other in stunned silence as they try to reframe hundreds of memories in light of the false assumptions that they have both been under. From up above, Lucas shouts that it’s time to get moving again
Third stop
Mike: Time for one more confession? I’m greedy. I get to have you as my best friend, but I can’t be content with that! I’ve loaded so much meaning onto best friends that the phrase is starting to collapse under the weight. It can’t hold all of my feelings for you.
Will: What are you saying Mike?
Mike: I’m saying I want more. So much more. I assumed you knew. I thought that I was being so obvious. But I guess that I’ve been sending mixed signals, and that's not fair to you. The truth is, I need you so badly that I can’t see straight. It scares me how much I need you, and it’s turned me into a coward. I haven’t gone after everything I’ve wanted because I’ve been too afraid to lose what I already have.
Will is about to interject, but Mike holds up his hand.
Mike: Please, I… I need to tell you this, but I’m not good with speeches. I wish I had time to write all out, but you know, planet to catch. Can you give me a moment to try to explain myself?
Will nods. Mike hangs his head and starts speaking very quietly.
Mike: If you can be brave, maybe I can be wise. At least less of an idiot. I don’t want to hide behind “best friends” anymore. But I’m not the only one who's been hiding my feelings am I? I think that when you gave me that painting, those weren’t El’s feelings that you were talking about. You were able to perfectly capture all those emotions in the painting because they were yours. Tell me I’m not wrong.
Will: You’re not wrong.
Mike looks up and places his hand on Will’s cheek. His eyes are burning with desire. “I love you Will the Brave.”
Will lets out a breathy “Oh!” He rips that fuck ass beanie off Mikes head and tangles his fingers in Mike’s hair. “I love you too Mike the Wise.”
Will the Brave and Mike the Wise finally lean in for a kiss.
