The feelings swirling through Emori’s mind were a hybrid of relief and misery. She’d wanted—no, needed—this for weeks. John was always mad about something lately, always taking sarcastic jabs at her until finally, she’d said, “I’m done with this,” and walked out. For good.
She could breathe again, briefly, until she started feeling more alone than she had even in the Dead Zone. Raven listened to her cry and brought meals to her while she sulked, but she soon realized that ironically, the only person she wanted to talk to about how much she missed John, was him.
